Liberty Mens Basketball wins the ASUN Championship

With a 73-57 win over Lipscomb on Sunday, the Liberty men’s basketball team won the Atlantic Sun Championship and clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

It’s the second straight ASUN Championship for the Flames, who won their first NCAA Tournament game in school history in 2019. Elijah Cuffee and Caleb Homesley each dropped a team-high 16 points.

last year, totally different scenarios, lives from two years ago. Before Liberty was in Phoenix, they they beat Florida Gulf Coast, you know, they, so they came into the league last year kind of top dog, they returned most of their whole team last year and kind of the consensus that they were gonna win the conference and they had a great year. You know, and then Liberty comes in, you know, as a second place team, and goes and you know, steals the show last year and canvas. And we all have a cloud Astro, you know, Liberty Hill, probably only a couple of things, you know, Liberty played well. You know, kind of the same focus this year. Well yeah, I talked about this being a fat champion, you know, that really only played six player so yeah, they had a five year old, you know, five starters and then they bring miles Axel Val, which is more or less it should be an offensive lineman for the football team knows about split split six, you know, probably pushing you know, 252 66 you know, but you know, we’re talking about on the 16 points ain’t easy do things for the team at 50 points, a game handle antics and Player of the Year. He’s kind of a jack of all trades, I could score rebounds, you know, set The whole audience kind of goes through him, you know, they got shooters around him like coffee had a great game 16 points which is a season high, you know, he doesn’t know it consistently, you know, hit him with a, you know, the shot over here make open shots, he’s more resistant, a great defender, you know, out to Liberty Christian Academy kids, so he’s a local kid who you know, kind of heart and soul. You know, the best shooter, you know, shooters on a team. You know, Derek McGee was a sophomore from North Carolina. And then also Georgia particular or cheese kind of runs the show as a 20 guys. Another kind of the guy who definitely doesn’t, you know, fall out of points, but there’s no point to take a shot at the end of the game. He hit the key shot last year, you got to flip some and you know, you don’t have a lot of hand in the fourth quarter because there’s money in the crypto line, just a great player and you know, the rest of the team I think the best you know, the most crucial player the team is Guy James, that double double machine you know, 13 points 10 rebounds a game. He’s not flashy, you know, he’s kind of a blue collar guy.

You know, I think this is our job, you know, their clothes. something to definitely look at. And of course, a son championship is a new conference for Liberty University and they’ve dominated two years in a row. I mean, is this something that Liberty could Go to a different conference in the future or do you think they have a long relationship with a sign? You know,

football right now, which is okay because you know, a sign doesn’t have a Football Conference so it works out well you know, it’s a good basketball league is better than a big stop. We talked about that last week. You know, and mega baseball, which is kind of our other big sport men score, you know, solid softball and women’s basketball. We said it very nicely there. It’s geographically good. I will not make any create too long trips. I got a really team that really kind of just doesn’t really fit in as, you know, nurturing the Institute of Technology, you know, we got all these styles and whatnot. But um, you know, everybody’s gonna have to deal with that. But everything else is kind of geographically sound, liberty and go and then kind of go into a lot of that. Major you want to play in your conference and Harry Potter is where you’re gonna want to recruit while our sports we want to recruit Florida, go in the Georgia area. That’s Little Lies, you know. And I’m going to say that you know, the team that Liberty plays in the sunlight testing University, which is I believe outside of Orlando. They had three really good freshmen playing for them this year. They gave me Liberty everything they wanted you in the eyes and also see them earlier this year. So I think you know, they’re led by Yo, Danny Jones. Coach had a couple different major universities and believe last stop was at South Florida. He did a very good coach in a program is going to change his password. And also I know that his team was absolutely atrocious this year and that’s kind of thought they didn’t win a conference game only won one record. gain all of yours. looking at the other conference tournament schedules on the ACC has a tournament from March 10 to the 14th. That begins very soon. Big geese B starts on March 11. And ends on March 14, the big 10 it’s as March 11 through the 15th, big 12 March 11 to the 14th. So a lot a whole lot of these conferences. They’re just going to start this week. We’ll go through each conference and see what are your thoughts who might be the winner or top two. Let’s start with the ACC Ryan, who do you think will finish that? I mean, you have to win these conference championships to have good seating or like, what’s the rules here?

depending on how many was in a conference, you know, some do double ba and the ACC, you know, first time, you know, in a very long time, I think it might be a great time to scuba dive in ACC. The four day seminar was on a regular season title. So we’ll be in one seat. You know, they play really good sound basketball, you know, a Leonard cheeky No, they, they’re really long and lanky. They don’t have a great offensive player, but you know, they didn’t get the job done. You know, that doesn’t mean they don’t score this for a bunch of transitions office deals and turnover. there they’re gonna be a good choice, but can I go gotta go with the top dog They got the NBA players on the team they got an ACC player here. Trey Burton Carrie who should be a lottery. That’s kind of you know, you know you got the team where the best regular season in Florida say and then I think the team have the most talent I do

something to definitely look at ACC begins and march 10 to 14 I believe all the tournament that tournament will be played in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Big East will be playing in New York March 11th to 14th Who are your top picks there?

Ryan Christa
I try to like the crane blue today. Santiago, why this tank, you know, typically typically, crane has a under Greg McDermott, is you know very often to focus on the scene as they shoot the ball while you’re on this space before. Alexander is a great player but Same time do I didn’t make much difference on this thing and other crazy this team can get that a lot of stops, you know, they’re better defensive, the most creative things I’ve seen in the past. And also, you know, I kinda, you know, I try to go get it, you know, Jay Wright is the best coach, Brent, you know, this is that team that I got players around and they got players a better system. I don’t know. The team I think, you know, it doesn’t it’s not always the greatest thing ever to win your conference tournament. So sometimes you just got yourself playing, you know, three games in three days. You know, when you’re probably not a contender to win your own or win the NCAA Tournament. You kind of got to go for your, your conference tournament. I think that’s what you’re gonna see in the Big East. I don’t know if you’re seeing any NCAA Tournament champions out of this, but you’re gonna see a very highly competitive old school tournament down in Madison Square Garden.

something to definitely look at. You know, it’s funny because I was doing some research This Morning about in what college conference, which college basketball conferences to cover. And you were right. There’s definitely more than the power five, there’s there’s probably at least 10 of them. They’re good out there. Yeah.

You know, the biggest thing better than most of the power five conferences, especially like in the PAC 12 I don’t think that’s a very good conference.

Which org he wants to leave the PAC 12.

Because a lot of money that’s trickling down, you know, I think your football teams are making money, your basketball teams and your other teams aren’t going to get the resources that they need to survive. But that’s for another day. But I think he’s definitely a great team. These are basketball focused schools, you know, there’s no football teams in a school really. So you got teams, you know who live and die, you know, November. to March, and then you got to go look at you know, another conference is having their conference tournament this next two days in Las Vegas, and that’s the West Coast pathway. And you’ve got Gonzaga, who’s definitely gonna be one seat. And then you got St. Mary’s is like their slot up, and there’s probably no higher team in a country right now. That you know, yeah. You know, I, I think that’s almost a better basketball conference right now than is the PAC.

Pac 12. Yeah, um, to keep in mind, guys, we have announced that Ryan crystal will be will be covering the big GIS, the West Coast Conference, and potentially the big 10. He hasn’t made his final decision, but I hope he takes it. But yeah, Ryan crystal will be covering the West Coast Conference, Big East and potentially the big 10. We’ll have Justin Riley covering the SEC, Caillou board and we’ll be covering ACC and the big 12. And we’re done. Flynn gonna fill in the spots for the PAC 12, Atlantic 10 and Mountain West Conference. Those announcements will happen later this week.

So we already have a Mountain West Conference champion and that’s the Utah State Aggies. That was this weekend.

What about for Oh, for for the Mountain West Conference? How was that tournament?

Yeah, they got that big upset. You talk to me. I kind of get some relief off of them next week. And you know, Dino’s on the bubble, do not worry about that. Let’s go win our conference tournament was a big implication of that, though. Is that is that going to knock San Diego State off the one line and send them to the to save somewhere else?

Interesting. Interesting. Now, what like with all this seating, I mean, it all comes down to the committee members, right?

Yeah, they got you know, guidelines, you know. They found they use certain metrics to email me There’s bracketing rules like there’s only so many themes you can play in their conference and you can’t and it’s a you know where you can play a scene during a conference before sweet 16 so there’s there’s reasons why teams get placed in places you know. So they use all that to kind of put that that bracket together which will post a very shortly or next Sunday night.

Where do you think Liberty what scene number do you think the land in their respective regions? Honestly,

I have no idea what region they’re gonna be. UCL is bracketology is now I guess they always pick you know what city they’re gonna play in. It kind of just taking guesses You know, they’re just, I mean, there’s no one really knows for sure. The technology is like dreaded this, like, Who wouldn’t have six eight teams going at the moment? I don’t know. I think they take some liberty, no pun intended. I’m taking her place people play. But I think you know, Liberty is probably looking anywhere from 13 to a lot

And that’s huge if it lifetimes where you’re gonna see the you know, as you like Auburn who started off so hot, or Colorado who, you know, couple weeks ago, it could have been a two or three seed you know, who’s pumped and going into their conference tournament. They end up coming to five so yeah, that’s kind of where you want to be, you know, that’s kind of upset. You people typically pick in the NCAA Tournament.

Definitely, definitely gonna follow us in the next this week is conference conference tournament week, right? Well, they call it championship week. So, like Ryan says, You don’t really have to win these tournaments if you’re like creating, but it is a cherry on top of the deal.

Yeah, you know, I think a lot of times you see, teams expend so much energy that you know, cuz you’re playing three games in three days. That’s a lot of solid play no more than two games a week and all sudden you’re playing, you know, you know, back to back to back days or sometimes, you know, you might play four games in four days. If you get really high, you will end up winning a tournament and have no energy left for the NCAA Tournament. So you’ll see teams. Yeah, they’ll try to win the conference tournament, but you know, you’re not gonna see

I mean, I know some ball teams out there, I think the Lakers are the best team but this new MBA of where players fit so much in it, you know, they don’t play you know, it’s hard to tell, you know, right now, you know, who’s the best, you know, it’ll be interesting to see how they kind of fought, you know, come closing. I do that, you know, I do think they’re one and two is definitely the last western conference that we’re gonna cover, you know, the CLI and Paul George NFS. Both they can defend quite well. Don’t feel bad for the Lakers or Brian Davis.
