Buccaneer player after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, or the Bucs a better team than they were 24 hours ago. Today we have a special guest, Jordan pay Lugo from the Federation had guar and He knows a lot about fournette he’s been with him about three years. Jordan, welcome to the sports cast.
Jordan de Lugo
Thanks for having me on. I appreciate you reaching out.
Santiago Leon
So Jordan jet the logo tell us a little bit about the website that you guys write for generation jack.
Jordan de Lugo
Yes. Okay, that’s pretty simple. We cover the Jaguars all Jags news analysis insights. And we have a bunch of Jacksonville kind of cultural gear that pick you know stuff some stuff that is a related to the Jaguars teams some stuff that’s just chill related type stuff. So yeah, we have a good time.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, is interesting how to find your guys because when I search on Twitter, jaguars, you guys always come up and your website. I think you’re the number one fan website in Jacksonville. Right.
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, I mean, I’d say so. At least from an independent perspective. There’s some blogs that are You know, part of bigger national publications like SB Nation and stuff like that. But from an independent perspective, yeah, I’d say we’re the biggest jaguars website.
Santiago Leon
How long have you guys been around?
Jordan de Lugo
2015 was when we started writing and we’ve kind of just gradually grown from that point.
Santiago Leon
And you guys are also you are a USF alum. Aren’t you gators?
Jordan de Lugo
No, I’m a gator fan. But I graduated from U and F and Jacksonville.
Santiago Leon
That’s right. The northern Florida University Of course they call it and you’re a gator fan. Are you a Cal Trask fan?
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, I like him. I mean, I think he’s a reliable college quarterback. I’m not sure about his NFL prospects. I’m also a fan of Emory Jones. I mean, he’s been waiting in the wings for quite a while so I think the Gators are in a good spot at quarterback heading into 2020. We’ll see
Santiago Leon
what happens of course, Florida will be having an all sec schedule. So we’ll see how their changes go Mullins doing well in the recruiting trail, but we’ll talk college football afterwards because Jordan knows a little bit about Gator football. Leonard fournette, one of the top top draft picks from three years ago, was a first rounder fourth pick the that the Jaguar selected. Three years later he gets released. Jordan, tell us what happened. And we’ll talk about his whole acquisition with Tampa a little bit later. But what was going on with Jacksonville? Was Leonard fournette. A not a good fit there. What were your thoughts?
Jordan de Lugo
Pretty incredible, right? A fourth overall pick three years ago, helps the Jaguars get all the way to the AFC Championship I mean his rookie year and apply off score three touchdowns against the Steelers at Heinz Field helping the Jaguars get to the AFC Championship. And then I think you saw some immaturity from him early. On in his career, he had some issues. I mean, he got in a fight during a game with the bills. He punched one of their defensive linemen. I can’t recall his name right now. But yeah, he got suspended for that. He got suspended. Another time for missing a team photo shoot. Just a lot of little things that I think probably have added up in terms of how the coaches feel about him. And if you follow Mark long from AP, he’s repeatedly kind of said the coaches have wanted to be done with fournette for a while. And he even thinks that players went to the front office. And that’s what led to fournet release. Of course, Doug marone, the Jaguar tech coach, he said it’s strictly a football move that they made, the moves they’re making right now or based on what they’ve seen in training camp this year. And do I believe that I’m not Sure, I mean, I don’t think you can look at the Jaguars roster and say for net doesn’t belong on it from a talent perspective. I do think that the guys that they have that running back now, when you look at Rockwell farmstead, Chris Thompson, Devine ozigbo and even James Robinson, an undrafted, rookie, they do all have better vision than for net, and maybe a little bit better lateral agility. So I think they might fit Jay Gruden scheme a little bit better than for net whereas he’s like a power downhill. One cut and go type runner.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, and looking at the Jaguars running backs right now, as you mentioned, is Jose gbo. Chris Thompson and Raqqa Armstead, how is that group is it, you know, self sufficient that they could move forward with this season with this or him back squat?
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, I think it is. Armstead has missed most of camp with he started out on the COVID lis then he’s at a different illness unrelated to COVID and had a couple of nicks and stuff going on with Armstead. So we really haven’t seen him this year. But we did get to see a fair amount of him during his rookie year, and I scouted him coming out of Temple as well. So I think ideally, if, if he was completely healthy and ready to go that he would probably be the the main guy getting carries, but Chris Thompson, he’s an excellent pass catching back. He’s played with Jay Gruden for a long time over at Washington, and he’s a guy that I think is going to be heavily involved with the offense especially early on, while these other younger guys because Zig Bo and Armstead are both going into their second year. I believe James Robinson will make the team as well and he’s an undrafted rookie. So I think Thompson is going to be kind of pacing the backfield early on getting a lot of touches. And then you’ll see the other guys as well come in and, you know, try to grind out some more, some more difficult yards. ej, I don’t think Thompson’s gonna be running in between the tackles a lot.
Santiago Leon
And it’s interesting because I’ve been listening to a lot of like, people are saying that Chris Thompson will probably start and do well. And if you’re like an NFL you know, yeah, I mean, he’ll probably do well. Let’s talk about the quarterbacks Gardner Minshew. Is he the man in Jacksonville? Or do you think he needs a season to prove it?
Jordan de Lugo
Well, he’s got to prove it. I mean, he’s a quarterback coming off of an excellent rookie year. He won six games. Last six games as well obviously going by 500 as a rookie is impressive. At a really impressive touchdown to interception ratio 21 to six. He really improved throughout the season, there was ups and downs, no question about it. He’s still a really young guy, but I think Doug marone and the general manager Dave called well as an offensive coach. Jay Gruden, I think they really all feel very comfortable with Menchu heading into year two. But he does have to prove it. There’s no question about that. And if he doesn’t prove it, you know, the Jaguars only invested a six round pick in him. It is very possible that if the Jaguars struggle this year, I’m not saying that they will. But if they do, that could very well be in the running for one of the top quarterbacks coming out next year. If Minshew doesn’t take a step that they need him to
Santiago Leon
where do you see this job as award? team going this year? How many wins and losses? What’s your prediction? Right now?
Jordan de Lugo
So I’m gonna save my official prediction for my show later on. This next week coming up, but I will say I think that a realistic a realistic window for the Jaguars in terms of wins and losses. I think five to eight wins is what you’re looking They have a very tough schedule down the stretch. They play at Minnesota. They play at Baltimore down the stretch. They’ve got some tough home games against the Steelers, the bears with a really tough defense. So it’s not an easy schedule, down the stretch. They do get Miami early on. They do get Cincinnati early on. So those are two games that they’re going to need to take care of business if they want to be competing down the stretch.
Santiago Leon
Yeah. Obviously the Jaguars would you say they’re going into a rebuilding stage or a rebuilding season?
Jordan de Lugo
It looks like it from the outside. But if you talk to Doug marone, I’m sure he would say absolutely not. He’s a guy that coming off two consecutive losing seasons. I don’t think that the Jaguars can afford or I don’t think he can afford. For the Jaguars to be rebuilding. I think he would probably call it more of a retooling. He thinks he’s got a good group of guys. That he really likes the depth and the starters lacks the leadership along with the youth, which there is plenty of youth. A lot of people would probably say the Jaguars have too much youth. We’ll see how that goes. But yeah, I mean, I don’t it looks like they’re rebuilding from a national perspective. I understand that but I don’t think that the inside the building I don’t think that that is the mantra or the idea that’s going on.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, very similar to what happened with Miami last season where it was pretty much a tank you know, try to get a good quarterback and a good good draft pick and of course, they say no, you know, we’re, we’re struggling and we’re trying to get our bearings, but that’s pretty much what they’re trying to say.
Jordan de Lugo
Guys. The difference there though, is you know, Miami, they have a nuke they had a new coach Brian Flores, obviously, Doug marone I don’t think can afford to tank I don’t think he’s trying to tank whether or not the Jaguars do succeed in 2020 or not, obviously remains to be seen. But Doug is he’s coaching for his job and he acknowledged that earlier this week.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, it’s a quite an interesting situation there. Also you guys traded uniqa now Goku to Minnesota Vikings for 21 a draft pick. Where were your thoughts? What is coming? What was like the whole ambience behind it?
Jordan de Lugo
So yeah, unique and Gok way a lot of people get his name right. Yeah,
Santiago Leon
sorry, like tackle the low. I can’t say his name. Right.
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, everybody watches that. No big deal, though. So, yeah, this was a long time coming. And gotway has repeatedly or had repeatedly you know, stated his disinterest for playing for the Jaguars. He’s requested a trade demanded a trade gone on Twitter tirades, even insulted or, you know, kind of went back and forth with Tony Kahn, who is the son of the Jaguars primary owner shod Khan and today He’s involved with analytics and other things to do with the Jaguars. So they had a little back and forth on Twitter. And yeah, and gotway never signed his franchise tag, he was unwilling to negotiate a long term deal. And I think the Jaguars were just simultaneously trying to see if perhaps they could get him to commit to play for a season in Jacksonville, while also trying to measure the best trade possible or, you know, find the best trade possible. They end up getting a second round pick and a conditional fifth round pick that could turn into a fourth or a third, it’ll turn into a fourth. If he makes the Pro Bowl which he’s got very good chance of doing that, considering his skill set, and it can turn into a third if he makes the Pro Bowl and the Vikings win the Super Bowl. That is a little bit tougher, but you know, it is possible the Vikings do have a good squad this year, so far in Gok way I’m happy for him that he was able to you know, Go to a team that will be competitive and that wants him to be there and that he’s happy to be there. And for the Jaguars, I believe they got some good draft capital, that obviously will not help them in 2020. So it’ll be interesting to see how that all plays out long term.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, a few of your defensive players have left. Ramsey, he left last year, was that a huge loss for you guys, or it just had to be done.
Jordan de Lugo
I mean, that was a situations actually in Gok way as well. Tom kauflin was the executive vice president of the Jaguars. He was the one making all the decisions. Even though Dave Caldwell the GM was still in place. Tom kauflin had the final say. So I don’t know if you’re a member but we to the Jaguars are playing out the Texans last year. Jalen Ramsey and Doug marone got into it on the side. line. And then afterwards Tom kauflin and Jalen Ramsey had a conversation after that game. And at that point, that was the breaking point for Jalen. He was ready to get out of Jacksonville. He baked a back injury after that, and the Jaguars ultimately had no choice but to end up getting rid of him, especially because the Rams offered so much in return. I mean, when you’re talking about getting two first round picks for a single player, that is a lot to get in return for Jalen Ramsey. And so yeah, kauflin kind of severed both of the relationships with Ramsey and gotway then gotway situation. Last offseason, the Jaguars and he were going into contract negotiations, and Gok way declined Tom Coughlin’s first offer and, and then Tom kauflin essentially just said, screw it. We’re not going to negotiate anymore. We’ll talk next offseason. And that was the breaking point for in Gok way at that point he decided he wasn’t gonna sign with the Jaguars long term, he faded out.
Santiago Leon
Tongue kauflin let’s get to him. I was a huge fan, what he’s doing with the guys in Jacksonville. I saw some like championship vibe tenure. He definitely changed the organization a bit. What I saw, and that deep playoff run obviously was stopped by New England Patriots. You guys did challenged the pages a little bit. What happened with Tom Coughlin. I thought he was a great GM but what what made it sour?
Jordan de Lugo
So I do think that he did a decent job. When you talk about talent acquisition, like you said his first year as executive vice president the Jaguars went to the AFC Championship. They were within minutes have taken down the Patriots and go into the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. And you look at Tom Coughlin’s history in Jacksonville obviously, every time the Jaguars have been to the AFC Championship. It’s been with kauflin calling the shots they went twice in the late 90s. And they went in 2017 but he was just too much of a stickler on the way things work, you know, old school football and he couldn’t follow the rules. There was clearly rules set in place by the CBA. collective bargaining agreement. He was binding Dante Fowler he find him $700,000 and wrongfully so. Of course, and then he also called telvin Smith and Jalen Ramsey out heading into the 2019 season for not being at voluntary minicamp which of course, Tom kauflin is not allowed to berate players for not being at voluntary minicamp and the Players Association. Kind of notice that and they responded to it putting out a statement basically condemning what Tom Coughlin had done there and They even told players to be wary of signing with Jacksonville because of Tom kauflin. Tom Coughlin’s gone. Obviously, he did so much damage to the organization because of his old school mindset. And his inability to follow the rules of the CBA that they just had no choice but to get rid of him.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, that’s something that I do remember now What happened? Yeah. And you know, like you were saying he’s, uh, he’s very old school is very, like Bill checkstyle. You know, very tough and bring things kind of together, but obviously not following the rules. I’m Doug marone. He is a kauflin. Guy. Obviously, do you think he has a good chance to turn things around this season? Like what do you think with his coaching style?
Jordan de Lugo
So marone as a player’s coach, I believe he’s kind of changed his style up in terms of a couple years ago. He was saying, you know, if he could run the ball on every single play, that’s what he would do. And then now you get Jay Gruden and, and he’s the one that’s really going to be calling all the shots on offense. He’s a very bright, offensive mind. And he’s at a lot of success coaching offenses in the NFL, when you look at what he did with Cincinnati, and some of his years with Kirk Cousins and in Washington. So do I think that they have a chance to turn it around this year? I do think there’s a chance I think it’s gonna be tough based on the schedule and based on how much youth they have. But I’m not sure exactly what they have to do to keep their jobs. But do I think that the team will be more exciting and more fun to watch than they were last year? I do. And I think that’ll help. But ultimately, this is a bottom line business and they haven’t had a winning season since 2017. So it’s gonna be interesting. The way this all plays out for Doug marone I do think he has a chance I do.
Santiago Leon
I hope so. I like his attitude and everything. I mean I just I remember three years ago my like this jaguars team is the team of the future I thought and now things kind of are you know crumble is not a good word to use maybe it is I don’t want to share I think it is yeah, and things are just crumbling but that’s the NFL sometimes sometimes these teams are not for long. You only see a few teams like like, like the Patriots or Seahawks with a kind of maintain their composure a little bit. And they add some pieces to it. Um, Calise Campbell, a another lossy guys and he’s going to the Ravens. Was that a big loss for you guys?
Jordan de Lugo
Absolutely. You see, I guess kind of why the Jaguars made the move. They wanted to get as much draft capital. They wanted to get younger, they wanted to get coleus Campbell’s salary off the books. But that’s one move that I really kind of condemn from this offseason. I don’t think trading Colin Campbell for a fifth round pick is getting good value for a guy that’s still playing at an all pro level. He’s an elite run defender on the edge. I believe he racked up close to 80 pressures last year. His sack numbers were down a little bit but he was still getting pressure. still making a lot of big plays, helping the Jaguars stop the run, which obviously the team struggled with, even with him playing so well against the run. I think that the Ravens got a steal. I think that they have an excellent defense. They added Campbell and they also added interior defensive lineman from Denver. Derek Wolfe, I believe so I think the Ravens are gonna have a hell of a defense and I do think it was a mistake letting coleus Campbell go, because yeah, he is up there in age but he’s still playing at an extremely high level.
Santiago Leon
bortles Blake bortles Was I was always confused with him. I’m not sure where he was. He turned out not to be a good quarterback. Um, was he good at that moment that one year when you guys went deep in the playoffs?
Jordan de Lugo
He was inconsistent that year. Certainly, there was some games where you were just like Gosh, this guy, but then you get into December and he was absolutely the hottest quarterback in football. I know month of the season. It’s weird. He smoked the Seahawks got random out of Jacksonville. He was thrown all over the yard that day. And he did that the whole month of December. Then you get into January the Jaguars hosts the bills at home and the playoffs. The jaguars win that game bortles throws the game winning touchdown pass, but he looked awful outside of that. I mean, I think the Jaguars scored 10 points or something like that in that game, but they were able to get the win. Then he goes up to Pittsburgh, takes care of business there plays pretty well played pretty well. Next championship game against the Patriots. But uh, the bottom really fell out on bortles. The NFL caught up to him. I don’t think he was a guy that really mastered NFL offenses from a mental standpoint. And he he’s embedded himself. He’s not a natural thrower of the football. It was difficult for him to manufacture success when it came to throwing the ball.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, he did well with like, with those short passes a little bit, but of course, he passed the ball to fournette a lot so they can look so good. Um, for net going to Tampa Bay Buccaneers Do you think the Buccaneers are a better team than they were 24 hours ago?
Jordan de Lugo
Sure. I think that’s a good running back if you know how you’re gonna use him if you know how you want to use him. And because the Buccaneers have Ronald Jones, they have their rookie, they selected keyshawn Vaughn. I think the Bucs have a very good backfield situation and I think I’m not sure if fournette will step in as the starter or if he will spell Ronald Jones or maybe just be a situational back, you know, maybe goalline third down type stuff, you know short yardage. But yeah, I mean, I don’t think there’s any way you can look at that move for that type of team and say they didn’t get better.
Santiago Leon
Yeah. And of course I believe Tom Brady needs someone else to kind of implement or supplement their running game. I mean, they’re great in defense and the great in the passing, but of course the running game was definitely questionable. Um, do you think the saints or the Bucs will finish first in the NFC South man,
Jordan de Lugo
that is so interesting. I mean, they play week one, I believe in New Orleans,
Santiago Leon
correct.
Jordan de Lugo
That is gonna be a heck of a week one matchup. Who do I think wins? It’s so weird because Brady actually he kind of struggled last year. He wasn’t normal Brady. The Patriots defense really is What guided them to the playoffs more than anything last year. But he goes to Tampa he’s got all sorts of weapons around him. You know, those receivers down in Tampa are excellent when you talk about Mike Evans Chris Godwin and then you look at the tight end situation they’ve got three really good tight ends as well. So that’s interesting but Brees he also got Emmanuel Sanders this offseason, a new toy to play with and Sanders I think that was a really underrated move. I think. I think from top to bottom, I have to go with the saints just because they have more continuity, I think Brees is playing better than Brady is right now. And I think their defenses are comparable. The Bucs might have an edge on the defensive side of the ball. But the saints defense is excellent as well. So I’ll go with the saints.
Santiago Leon
I go the saints to of course they’re been playing together for a while and Tom Brady is just getting adjusted to a new system and Tampa so we’ll see how things grow. Go. First three games the Jaguars is the Colts a 10, ac and Miami. How will Jacksonville come out after those three games?
Jordan de Lugo
So division games they’re always interesting to predict and the Jaguars have played the Colts very tough among their divisional opponents under marone. The Colts is that or the team that the Jaguars have succeeded most against. And on the flip side of that the Jaguars have really struggled against the Titans. Obviously they did go one on one against the Titans last year and they kind of blew them out on Thursday Night Football and week two of last season.
Right now, I’m looking at I think that they will beat the Colts in week one. I think that they’ll lose to the Titans. It’s in Tennessee. They really struggle up there. And then week three against the dolphins. That’s Thursday Night Football. That’s exciting. You have Ryan Fitzpatrick you have to who’s gonna be throwing the football for them. You don’t know. Dolphins are a really young team as well. I think the Jaguars should be able to take care of business against the dolphins at home in Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football, and if they do, they could get to two and one and kind of quiet the noise that’s going on on the outside. You know, people talking about tanking for Trevor and the Jaguars being the worst team in football, if they’re able to go take care of business on Thursday night Even if it is against the dolphins who aren’t a team that anybody expects to contend. I think it would quiet the noise quite a bit.
Santiago Leon
Definitely. I do think you guys have a better chance to beat us because I’m a Miami Dolphins fan. So it’s a Florida Florida rivalry or Florida Derby if you want to call it in like soccer terms. So should Pretty exciting. Um, what is the stadium news? Are they gonna allow fans the first couple games? What have you heard?
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, so the Jaguars are one of the few teams that are still planning on having fans at games. The current situation is 25% of capacity, which you’ll be looking at about 17,000. And of course, today’s Thursday, the third and the first game is the 13th for the Jaguars. So if they’re going to go ahead and make a move to not have fans in the stadium, it’s really getting down to crunch time so it looks like it’s gonna happen it looks like they’re gonna have fans. Of course, based out I know, in Miami, they’re gonna have like entrances and exits. So you know, you’re only allowed to leave at a certain part of the stadium or come in at a certain part of stadium and I bet is the same in Jacksonville. Yeah, they have done extensive work to create protocols that they believe will you know, obviously, follow this CDC guidelines, but also create a safe environment for their fans. We’ll see if it is if it goes as planned if it works out for them or not. But ticket sales is a good portion of local revenue and if you’re able to get 25% that’s better than getting zero percent so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out on the ticket sales front and having fans in the stadium.
Santiago Leon
There you have it a Jordan with the Jacksonville Jaguars news very informed, very optimistic. But we’ll see where this giant wars team goes. Are you
Jordan de Lugo
ready for perfect? I’m too optimistic. Honestly, I don’t think they’re gonna have a winning season or anything.
Santiago Leon
Sounds like I think like I don’t, I don’t big wins.
Jordan de Lugo
I don’t think they’re picking with the first overall pick. I don’t think they’re gonna have a winning season. But I also don’t think they’re gonna be one of the worst games in football.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, they’re gonna be we’ll see what Gunther does. I mean, I like going through many I don’t know about you but I think he has brings a personality. Oh, sorry, not Gunther.
Jordan de Lugo
Okay, Gardner,
Santiago Leon
Gardner. Gardner Minshew. My bad yeah. I was a confused with his name cool mask that if he still has it right.
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, he’s still got it going on. He’s He’s, I don’t think he’s ever going to lose the facial hair completely as part of his look.
Santiago Leon
So in your division, your conference. What order would you put Titans first?
Jordan de Lugo
For the AFC South?
Santiago Leon
Yeah.
Jordan de Lugo
No, you know, I probably put, I think the Colts will give other teams the most difficulty. The jaguars have matched up well with them for whatever reason under duck morale. But I think the Colts are the best team when you look at Phillip rivers, Ty Hill and they got a lot of offensive weapons. They upgraded their running back room with Jonathan Taylor. And I really think Frank Reich is an excellent head coach. And then you’ve got Houston. Tennessee Houston has the best quarterback in the division by far with deshaun Watson. They added some new toys for Watson to play with. Obviously they lost DeAndre Hopkins. That’s a big loss, man. Yeah, they’ve had some interesting moves below Brian running the show over there, kind of some head scratching trades and decisions but I still like their chances because they have deshaun Watson that Brandon cooks will puller is a big play waiting to happen. He’s also an injury waiting to happen at wide receiver so I would put Houston, second and Tennessee third
Santiago Leon
and fourth, the south of the AFC and Jordan has predicted it predictions for the NBA tonight Toronto vs. Boston Celtics, who do you have?
Jordan de Lugo
Oh gosh, MBA. If you watch it, not many people are watching Wiley MBA. I am a magic fan. So obviously I’ve seen the Raptors last year in the playoffs and then seeing the Bucs this year. So we’ve got Toronto and Boston tonight
Santiago Leon
Yep, neutral site in Orlando. Yep.
Jordan de Lugo
What’s the series out right now?
Santiago Leon
It is wow I didn’t check that out. It might be I’m not no it’s it’s I think it’s it can be Boston up three zero Let me double check here. Let me This is lesson Celtics. Google kind of has this popped up on me. They’re leading to nil to zero to nil is more England but zero to the Celtics. Yeah, Celtics are up. I mean,
Jordan de Lugo
wrapped Raptors will get swept. We’ll go with the Raptors tonight.
Santiago Leon
Okay, and Denver versus the clippers and then
Jordan de Lugo
lose the first game of that series. Right.
Santiago Leon
I think you’re right.
Jordan de Lugo
Yep. Yeah, cuz Denver just took care of business against the jazz and had that huge comeback in the last two years. So I’ll take the clippers. I think they’re a better overall team. I think kawhi is just so sturdy
Santiago Leon
clippers take on Denver, and Jordan, if people go to Jacksonville, which barbecue spot do you recommend? or which one actually hold on? Which sports bar do you recommend for a person to experience Jaguar fandom? sports bar in Jacksonville?
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, that’s a good question. Um, there’s a lot of good ones no question about it. I would say the coolest place to watch sports in terms of sports bar setting is actually strings sports brewery, so they’re a sports bar and a brewery and they have some awesome beers. They also have good barbecue there so that kind of goes into that as well. Perfect. Really cool spot
Santiago Leon
and wage professional sports. Team will come next to Jacksonville. Would it be? MLS NBA hockey, what is the most likely one
Jordan de Lugo
Gosh, they have a minor league soccer team. The Armada and I believe they’re building them a new stadium. So perhaps the way that kind of soccer teams move around from league to league perhaps the Armada could eventually join MLS so I’ll go with soccer.
Santiago Leon
Soccer is a good choice good chance because I know that the MLS is expanding pretty rapidly and I could see another Florida team joining Well actually, you guys will be in competition with Tampa cuz I know Tampa has been brewing for a while so we’ll see.
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, I think there’s probably more momentum for it out on there.
Santiago Leon
Yeah, I think the rowdies has been around since like the 70s. So we’ll see what’s the next Florida cuz soccer hasn’t done well in Florida to be honest. It’s weird. But
Jordan de Lugo
yeah, the Orlando team they have done well though, haven’t Yeah,
Santiago Leon
lately. They have done well. The Miami teams is actually looking good for the fandom. But we haven’t had a home game yet due to the pandemic so we’ll see how things look. And the stadium in Fort Lauderdale is not in Miami yet people are like what is in Fort Lauderdale? Yeah, it’s in Fort Lauderdale for now but it’ll be in Miami in a couple years. Jordan, what is the best way to reach you and no more information about generation jaguars?
Jordan de Lugo
Yeah, so Gen jack calm is the website. Like I said jaguars News and Analysis every day. We’re pushing out new content. And we also do our merchandise that’s just Jacksonville and Jaguar related. And yeah, so Gen jag.com. For that you can follow me at Jordan de Lugo on Twitter, follow generation Jaguar at generation jag and on Instagram at generation Jaguar.
Santiago Leon
And of course, you can reach us at the sports cast one on Twitter or at the sports cast. dotnet tomorrow, we’ll have a Complete NFL preview with Jeff Farber and talk about what’s going to happen and see what’s gonna happen with a few players like Alvin Kamara. We don’t know what’s gonna happen he’s probably gonna sign a new contract. And we’ll see what Yeah, it looks like it. We’ll see what happens and Jordan, why wouldn’t Why will Jacksonville host another Super Bowl?

Man, the first time they hosted the Super Bowl was really kind of a train wreck. A lot of the national media really kind of talked a lot of smack about Jacksonville when they were here and reasonably so I don’t think the city was quite prepared for what, what they needed to do. I don’t think that they would get another super bowl until they build a new stadium.

And again, like 10 other hotels.

Yeah, they’ve got to upgrade the hotel situation. Absolutely. You’re right about that. They need to do a lot of development before they get another Super Bowl. So I mean, I couldn’t see it happening in the next 10 years. Maybe in the 10 to 15 year range if a new stadium is built if they get more hotels downtown, and of course they are working on doing that but it’s a slow process. It is but hey Jacksonville
