Stephen M. Smith 1:58
people way too guys to
Marvin Constant 2:03
talk about
Justin Riley 2:06
Well guys, we had a great show last week has some great guests from back in our day. But now we got one of the most electrifying men to ever step foot on. Marvin introduce our guests
Marvin Constant 2:20
tonight’s guest
Unknown Speaker 2:23
what when I
Marvin Constant 2:24
think of this guest I’m in the mind frame of David Palmer’s of the world. The Freddy millions of world ain’t no way in hell, I would have kicked him the damn ball. You just had to be stupid to kick him the ball. Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Mr. Christie chance?
Unknown Speaker 2:46
Yes sir.
Justin Riley 2:48
Sir, good to have you.
Unknown Speaker 2:51
On understand why people kick you the ball ain’t no way.
Stephen M. Smith 2:57
Man. I had the most joy of covering the Swiss Army knife. Mr. Christian CJ Joseph. I go back to the Virginia Tech game no matter what your tech game. AJ McCarran was struggling. CJ took a punt return back kick baton back in Cardiff,
Unknown Speaker 3:15
touchdown. Beer man.
Justin Riley 3:23
Do you go pick up the husband at halftime man?
Marvin Constant 3:30
Well, I will say this though. You know the return skills. Phenomenal man. You might have missed my roommate. When I was in Alabama man. I definitely put you in that same mind frame that same state with him. He was also SEC championship game MVP for 30 minutes, man. When I seen you the way you move, man, it reminded me
Unknown Speaker 3:50
so much of him man, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Justin Riley 3:55
Man. And sports centers top 10 you had three of those segments, man. That day.
Stephen M. Smith 4:06
I’m not going on. Oh, just going back to the Virginia Tech guy. I promise you Christian have put one of them DVDs to sleep because he had dead man, Kim, Christian.
Unknown Speaker 4:24
Appreciate it. I really do. I really do.
Justin Riley 4:27
Yes, most definitely. Man. You’re actually one of our most requested a former Alabama player. So glad to have you on that respect.
Unknown Speaker 4:34
Oh, man. I really appreciate it.
Justin Riley 4:35
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 4:37
watch the show. I appreciate that.
Marvin Constant 4:40
We have fun on here. This is a safe place. There’s no judgement. Pete goatees trash.
Unknown Speaker 4:50
Oh
Justin Riley 4:54
Batman.
Unknown Speaker 4:57
I play
Unknown Speaker 5:00
I’ma tell the truth on here.
Marvin Constant 5:01
I’ma call it what it is. So this is a safe place
Unknown Speaker 5:06
to say I would say though I would say for Pico to say he’s he’s a good recruiter, but I think he has he definitely is trash when it comes to when a call plays I think like he don’t he’s probably a good coach like the develop guys and all that but when it’s time to call plays he’s terrible at that.
Marvin Constant 5:26
I’m wondering if he on the sideline just drawing numbers out of him What are you gonna run on please?
Stephen M. Smith 5:34
No, I’m telling you he got the place he stuck in his hair.
Justin Riley 5:42
You mentioned about development is he really developing players because the past two years he’s been there I really hadn’t seen any growth guys who just been that good like Christian bar more.
Unknown Speaker 5:53
Yeah. So what people beema was way better this year it was last year I mean
Marvin Constant 6:00
timeout timeout timeout Are you really giving Pete golden credit for Baltimore
Unknown Speaker 6:05
be no no no, no.
Unknown Speaker 6:10
You were giving him
Stephen M. Smith 6:13
credit the crap would be more the credit for be most to people the most high school coach and and Freddie Roach Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 6:21
Now, let me say that let me say this though. Let me say this though. I get Kasabian credit for trusting golden with the defense. That’s why I give credit to golden. The only thing I see is Dude, this dude cannot call defensive plays at all. He’s the team’s coach, for sure. Nothing more
Marvin Constant 6:42
like the manager equipment.
Unknown Speaker 6:51
He’s a defensive coordinator on the same side as Coach Saban. Which means you can’t really disrespecting them because you’re disrespecting them like that. He disrespected me like he don’t know he
Marvin Constant 7:00
I ain’t disrespecting Satan. Hold on, hold
Unknown Speaker 7:04
on, hold on.
Unknown Speaker 7:05
Hold on.
Marvin Constant 7:08
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Let me ask one question though. Christian. As an adult, you hadn’t looked back it’s like damn, did I Really?
Unknown Speaker 7:25
And I’m hearing this this this this this this heated conversation about golden and let me say this to y’all. Um, I can’t
Unknown Speaker 7:37
listen.
Marvin Constant 7:37
Oh, you can’t be alone with that prison issue sweatshirt. Oh, you got it
Unknown Speaker 8:00
Yeah, yeah, you’re having this little heat discussion on whether Pete golden should get credited and all this other stuff and if he a bad defense coordinator whether or not and that’s Hell no.
Unknown Speaker 8:14
Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 8:15
I agree.
Unknown Speaker 8:18
I think you know that you ever seen that big pretty equipment truck Bama beat ran around? Yeah. That’s what
Unknown Speaker 8:33
he can do that.
Unknown Speaker 8:36
Question is now p gold. And he got a pass to be honest. Because the pretty much the whole defense is coming back. Now, if you struggle with this defense, they need to go on fire. Because everybody coming back. They notice games they notice. Everybody has learned everything.
Unknown Speaker 8:58
No, no, no, no, no, no. This is his problem is when to call plays. You don’t know when to call sir in play. So
Unknown Speaker 9:08
you know what? First and First off, amen. I’m glad you on the show. I’m sorry. Man. always been a fan of yours. But look, you and I are on the same page. Marvin. I’ve said this. And you know, Steven, I’ve said this too. He don’t know how to call me. Not at all. No, not at all. When you do, he’ll call of cover to the whole game.
Marvin Constant 9:33
Facts
Unknown Speaker 9:37
like this.
Marvin Constant 9:38
If you my defensive coordinator I’ll be calling checks and audible the whole game.
Unknown Speaker 9:49
Some code I see something I can I can do man he he would love You know what, I’m gonna tell you something else. He always call a base defense always, you know, I know that because the D lineman stay getting pushed around, and that ain’t even the Bama standard, then you can push them around.
Unknown Speaker 10:15
So that’s that’s the same as as though. That’s why he do it to save yourself. Because he don’t know when the costs are in place.
Unknown Speaker 10:24
He’s scared to take risks. He’s scared to take great x
Unknown Speaker 10:27
fat fat.
Unknown Speaker 10:29
Did you know what Marvin? I’m gonna tell you something else too. And I don’t know if you saw this, Stephen. The first time. Ohio State score. They was on Gold Line. They were like, okay, yeah.
Stephen M. Smith 10:47
I saw that. I saw that. by Josh, Joe to
Unknown Speaker 10:54
Steven, as long as long as you’ve been covering alabama football, when have you known Alabama’s D line to get pushed around? What do you know? Now? I’ve
Stephen M. Smith 11:04
never seen that happen. I’ve never seen that happen.
Unknown Speaker 11:07
Two years in a row.
Justin Riley 11:09
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 11:12
Hashtag marquee. I agree.
Unknown Speaker 11:15
So so you know, I thought I was coming in to delightful nose. I thought y’all were like, like, like arguing about who should be Alabama’s next defensive coordinator. I thought maybe he got fired off in my phone, but
Justin Riley 11:40
pick up a new offensive coordinator. And we did pick up a new offensive line coach. Coach, yeah. Now, you guys, what do you feel about those hires?
Unknown Speaker 11:55
Oh, Bill O’Brien. Yeah. Oh, I don’t know. I don’t I don’t think he I think he did change when he was at what Penn State? Yeah. stayed around for sure. as a head coach. Oh, yeah. And that’s what all the allegations they had going on too. Right. Yeah. So So yeah, he did. He did some good. He did some great things at Penn State.
Unknown Speaker 12:21
allegations.
Unknown Speaker 12:30
Yo, yo, yo, man, you know how that shit is when you got an email coaching with Coach Saban?
Unknown Speaker 12:40
We don’t see
Marvin Constant 12:41
how things go because at the end of the day, is like he have coaches boot camp from from him to Charlie strong to to boot.
Unknown Speaker 12:50
We need to get brought over here. They don’t know how to do this.
Stephen M. Smith 12:56
Procedure procedure though. Let’s be real. No, Tennessee never wanted prove it. They were backed into them. They never Wonder Man.
Unknown Speaker 13:03
But you know what? No, man. And they they’re showing it because they they act like they don’t like him. I mean, it’s like personal like they don’t like it. They like like, they want him going so bad. They want him going with an arrest behind his name and every
Stephen M. Smith 13:19
now I’m telling you don’t want to pay him his buyout.
Unknown Speaker 13:26
Yeah, amen.
Unknown Speaker 13:33
I’ll be real.
Justin Riley 13:36
Yeah, I have a thing that it definitely points to him. I think it’s I think it’s foamer. It points to him. He’s the dirtiest players in the game. He’s been on. Oh, Steven,
Unknown Speaker 13:52
I thought you said
Justin Riley 14:08
he was Yeah. He just retired. Okay.
Unknown Speaker 14:13
Yeah, it was him.
Justin Riley 14:15
Yeah. All these allegations are flying around and all of a sudden he decided to retire. Well,
Marvin Constant 14:21
here’s the thing about it, though. You gotta go back to when he was a coach. He coached he was coaching at Tennessee when I was running. Yeah, you look at that team that they had in 98 nightmare. How do you have Peyton Manning? team on this
Unknown Speaker 14:35
price? Travis
Marvin Constant 14:37
Henry. Jamal Lewis. Travis Stevens. Cedric Wilson. dantas. To this price. Yeah, our Wilson Ray not Thompson. Little little Albert Haynesworth. JOHN Henderson way
Unknown Speaker 14:51
beyond grant.
Marvin Constant 14:53
How do you get all of them on the same team you wouldn’t cheat
Unknown Speaker 14:56
bag baby Know what? You said.
Marvin Constant 15:08
I had to play against them. So that’s how I know who was on the team.
Unknown Speaker 15:12
Hey, hey man. Shout out shout out. ever come out of Tennessee hands?
Marvin Constant 15:21
They had him out Wilson Ray Knight Thompson. Oh man. Come on, man.
Unknown Speaker 15:26
Yo.
Unknown Speaker 15:29
I just picked some. I just picked something. Listen, Justin. Marvin. After tonight, I need y’all to take my name off the show. I’m gonna tell you why. Don’t do it just yet. I’m gonna give y’all an ultimatum. Listen. You have you call one mo guest on the show. With a glass ceiling fan. I’m not coming back.
Unknown Speaker 16:20
Not every Bama player that’s been on here. That’s come up with a bug. wallpaper that’s actually a painting. All the bamboo ceiling fans.
Marvin Constant 17:23
We need to start a GoFundMe for former bamboo.
Unknown Speaker 17:31
kickoff returns. You ran you should have ran with them kickoff returns. And we came back with a ceiling fan. No.
Unknown Speaker 17:58
I wouldn’t be surprised. I wouldn’t be surprised when we got rid of before the season started.
Marvin Constant 18:02
I hope they do. Please get somebody a job somewhere. Don’t get
Unknown Speaker 18:10
it. Yeah, me. Yeah, me too. Me too. That was the word but but but.
Stephen M. Smith 18:16
But But Texas had another peak. It just went golden. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 18:23
You know what, I’m gonna tell you what happened, Texas. And they started looking at that game field. You’re like, Oh,
Unknown Speaker 18:31
look at the game.
Unknown Speaker 18:36
But you know what, the only reason they’re keeping him again, is because he has a whole defense attack. So all you got to do is get us playing with him and touch up everything else. If Alabama’s defense is not ranking number one the whole season. He needs to be fired. He got everybody back. Except for like two people. Right.
Unknown Speaker 18:57
Drew
Justin Riley 18:58
Mosley
Unknown Speaker 19:00
Yep. You got you got Pat. You got Patrick. And be more and who else? Oh, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 19:10
Come out a big claim. Somebody else do man. I think they claim this joke. Did they claim this? Not dB. I forgot where it’s from. But he supposed to be like one of the purest athletes coming down Alabama. Steven. You I heard you report on a DB for Juco. No, no, no. He’s coming out of high school.
Unknown Speaker 19:31
Yeah, yeah. Is he good?
Unknown Speaker 19:37
He’s supposed to be good as fucking basketball.
Stephen M. Smith 19:40
Oh, really? Good. No.
Unknown Speaker 19:45
Not Not Not Not speaking of good players, man. This is what I’m aggravated with. Now. I’ve seen this guy before. And he’s a monster. He just can’t stay on the field. This mumble to get hurt coming out the locker room. Come on, man.
Stephen M. Smith 20:03
I feel I feel so bad for him because he was a dog poo. And I thought this ball is gonna stay healthy. He’s been hurt every year.
Unknown Speaker 20:14
Yeah man.
Stephen M. Smith 20:16
Freshman year, freshman year sophomore, junior year he hurt his knee.
Unknown Speaker 20:25
elbow and knee during the national championship practice, he hurt himself putting his helmet on. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 20:39
Hey, hey. I’d say like this though, I would say cuz I know. We all went to Bama, bro. We know bro. I only want but I can only speak for Nick Saban era. That shit ain’t for everybody, bro. Okay, I was in high school. I was in a spring practice. Well, you got to fall quarter, spring summer, and can’t
Marvin Constant 21:08
be the bearer of bad news for you real quick. Y’all had it easy compared to what we had. See, y’all had the MTA saying you can only practice so many hours a day, you
Unknown Speaker 21:23
know, no, no, no, no, no. Hold on.
Marvin Constant 21:29
I’m seeing the fourth quarter program in Kindle here with roommates in college. I spent plenty of time down there. Ashley Campbell. Big T. I’ve seen I’ve seen your practice listening. Y’all didn’t want to go through what we went through when we went we had three days and four pads each practice would no matter what we will go to dinner and we were waiting to see who’s going to fall out the chair and have to get that IV and go to the hospital. We was averaging about five or six at night.
Unknown Speaker 21:59
Like man
Unknown Speaker 22:02
like no no we weren’t doing that. No but I’ve literally seen multiple multiple times NCAA come out to fourth quarter come out to our practices and Kasabian cuz they asked out and they go back to the office. Hey, man, wow.
Unknown Speaker 22:20
Wow. Easy.
Unknown Speaker 22:25
Yeah, we did. Well.
Unknown Speaker 22:28
Speaking of Oh, having heart now. No, I have no of course I follow you, Steven. I listened to your podcast The show was a great show. And the way they are talking is do Kool Aid. Yeah, they can. They can the media can very well spoil him before he gets he end up being not shit.
Unknown Speaker 22:51
bags.
Stephen M. Smith 22:52
That that comes down to how much does he wanted when he gets here? Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 23:01
You got to understand something. You are that dude in high school, but in college even better, and will knock your head off without he coming in trying to play multiple sports. I think you want to play basketball to me.
Stephen M. Smith 23:19
Yeah, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 23:20
Yeah. So now, I mean, do you you got it easy for now. But when they put them pants on, he’s gonna tell if you really want to beat him.
Stephen M. Smith 23:28
That’s facts. On top of that, he gonna be competing for the corner spot that certainly is behind. Right? Oh, the dude is three other dudes fighting for that spot with him.
Unknown Speaker 23:42
You know, I’m to me. I think he’s gonna be the Juco dude, man cuz from what I understand the Juco dude, he like he’s real. He’s a real big corner and he’s been he’s the dude six four. Yeah, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 23:56
The guy coming from Juco
Stephen M. Smith 23:56
u six for
Unknown Speaker 24:00
co saver. So smart bro. Kool Aid would be one of those nickel guys like he will he will do it. If he’s good enough to save it. There’s rarely rarely
Stephen M. Smith 24:10
see, see. CJ to think about? She said nickel guy. He beats out mother combo. As I’m saying.
Unknown Speaker 24:17
Malika can beat out one of those safeties for damn sure. Yeah, that’s
Justin Riley 24:21
true.
Stephen M. Smith 24:21
Okay, good point. Good. Point. Yeah. Good point. Hold
Unknown Speaker 24:24
on, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. So you mean you mean so now who was the guy that got put out the game for targeting
Unknown Speaker 24:31
a battle? Oh,
Unknown Speaker 24:33
I like him. I like him too. And then you got to think what’s that guy? What’s the kid name number 14 who came for Malika when he got hurt? 14 he played he played some good fucking ball too. Now I actually actually he came in to me doing better than Malecon some agree. I agree. But like I said Pete golden. We play against Florida. He put man and man on this goddamn guy and Tony goes straight down.
Stephen M. Smith 25:02
And told the folks to play zone. Well, that’s
Marvin Constant 25:06
where you get Pete goad.
Unknown Speaker 25:09
Hey, man, look, Hey, I got a I gotta run away briefly, man, but I’m going to get my daughter basketball but I’ll be back on count
Unknown Speaker 25:37
guys coming in.
Justin Riley 25:39
Chris, how intense was that interview process in the recruiting trail with saving at your house?
Unknown Speaker 25:46
Oh, damn.
Justin Riley 25:48
You know, Jonathan has told me it’s pretty intense. And he wants a specific kind of player. He’s looking for a specific kind of player or the right kind of mindset. And he basically just kind of, you know, it’s like a job interview.
Unknown Speaker 26:00
Yeah, it is. It is. It is, bro. It is. I mean, because it’s cost saving, to be honest, you already intimidated? I mean, she let’s be honest, like you don’t already know. You don’t really know too much to say you haven’t been really taught what to say. But you got cost saving and talking to you. So you really just saying yes to everything you say? I mean? Yeah, so it’s just like, but if I had to tell a kid, another kid who was getting recruited, and Coach Saban was coming to the house or whoever the hell it was coming to the house. They supposed to win you all. You know, they posed to be winning you over it ain’t supposed to be the other. It’s not like if I got an agent, I ain’t supposed to be working for my agent, my agent supposed to be working for me. You know what I mean? And I think psychologically, we get it. Which Coach Saban he went, he got a Bachelor’s in psychology, a master’s in psychology. So he can go deeper. Yeah. PhD, a PhD in psychology. There you go. So we don’t really think about that kind of stuff when it comes to how the system has to work and not being so tense and, and all that kind of stuff. So I mean, but like I said, when you’re when you’re 1415 1617 you’ve already lost that battle once Coach Saban come in the room, you know what I mean? Cuz it’s just like, Damn, this is really him. You know what I mean?
Stephen M. Smith 27:19
But So my question to you Christian is cuz, me and Blake, me and Blake Sims go back. We were buying you a 2014. And I remember the summer that year. I’m about to graduate Blake and I are in Burke Hall eat we eat cheeseburgers in there. So Jay coca just got here. And I’m like black man was coca do black brothers is my job. Am I blind but this Koch brother, but he’s like, Steve is my job. Black, got up, left the table. never came back to eat that cheeseburger. And he went on to have the he that he had in 24. I thought he was like, what went into Blake like that year because you want him to click in? He was clicking with copious click with the Andrew white like, what would what would it be like that? Yeah, cuz like that dude came out the Terminator. Right?
Unknown Speaker 28:11
Well, I’m gonna be honest with you, bro. Blake, Blake. Blake had at heart his first four years, bro like, even the last year. I mean, he’s just when I say head at heart. He got injured. his freshman year broke his toe sophomore year. Yeah, yeah. So freshman year he was playing, you know, he’s playing safety. He was playing safety. And Blake came in as an athlete, so they didn’t really know what a fit Blake and Blake came in at a time where we had, I mean, unlimited pack of talent. You know what I mean? So, but for Blake in that year, it was more so that um, Coker wasn’t who we thought he was gonna be when he came, right promise you,
Stephen M. Smith 28:50
bro.
Unknown Speaker 28:51
I was like, it’s almost like what Marvin said. I mean, what I’m what I’m what’s my god name mark. What’s his name? The light skinned got it. The prison.
Justin Riley 29:00
Steven prison sweater. So
Unknown Speaker 29:02
so he said with Kool Aid. Like they kind of blew Coker up to high on the standard. It did before he even got here to the point where it was this much this much room to say, Oh, this guy not better than me. And he took that much. And with Lane Kiffin on his side, bro. He he did what he did.
Stephen M. Smith 29:28
I’m not gonna Knock, Knock. Knock knock. Can you I was at practice pre COVID I was at practice. And I’m watching Jacob Coker do took eight seconds to let go of the ball on a screen
Unknown Speaker 29:41
pass. Thomas. He took five steps back.
Unknown Speaker 29:49
And that’s and that was my point. And Lane Kiffin offense wasn’t hard. It wasn’t hard at all. I mean, I’ve never played quarterback but I mean, Lane Kiffin gave gave the guys want it to give them more room than what they could use but another thing what I had to realize too This is after playing ball I was like these are two guys who backed up for a lot of quarterbacks. So when you backing up quarterback at the quarterback and with Blake sounds even more so than then Coker because it’s like I’ve never played you know what I mean? You got AJ McCarron here Damn I’m talking about another quarterback coming in. So it was it was almost like shit. When I was when I was a redshirt sophomore, redshirt Junior. I’m not taking this shit series you know what I’m saying? Like, fuck this I know I’m not gonna play you know what I mean? So my point being is this was like they they’re saying it was like they last their first time learning how to play football quarterbacks in college. Real talk,
Justin Riley 30:48
man coming into your freshman year you know, we just mentioned about the talent just stacked on top of each other. You looked at in that wide receiver room Marquise mazes there. We’ve had on the show, the Andrews there, Kevin Norwood, Omari, etc. I mean, the list can go on and on. What role does you see yourself playing with all those guys?
Unknown Speaker 31:09
Well, my freshman year my role I knew I had was backing up darious Hanks as slot receiver and backing up Marquise Mays at returner, so I knew I knew as long as I was in practice, catching all the plays and learning from them guys, when it comes to the the routes and things like that. I knew I knew I was gonna be good. I wish I didn’t have any pressure. Because at that time, we will we will blow teams out and then they will let the second string get in and play. And then once we was able to play, it was games, I was like, Damn, they just broke my wrist shirt. So I know, I know I’m important. You start figuring those kind of things out you like, okay, so I’m kind of important back then. So I gotta be ready. You feel what I’m saying? And it’s a crazy story to who’s practicing in December. Because my freshman year we you know, we didn’t play in the SEC championship, so we had a longer period of time to practice. And so I bullshitted like went practice and D Hanks was like I was like man I’m not gonna fucking play bro. This is the championship like this shit is dead. And the Hanks is like bro you gotta kick that shit quick cuz you never know what can happen bro. Like anything can happen they would have made he said it out of his mouth like what? What are you gonna do there? And literally in the championship game Mays get hurt.
Justin Riley 32:24
Yes, right
Unknown Speaker 32:24
hamstring? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 32:30
No, not okay.
Unknown Speaker 32:43
Are you an American?
Justin Riley 32:52
Cricket Wireless.
Unknown Speaker 32:58
black and blue.
Stephen M. Smith 33:02
I was a Christian. Why don’t you why his credit though.
Unknown Speaker 33:07
You know what? I don’t know. You know, what’s crazy? He still playing in the NFL? Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 33:16
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 33:17
But um, I think the reason being, um, was just being honest when he got hurt. Yes. Oh, Miss wood. That was 2012
Unknown Speaker 33:26
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 33:28
Because people don’t people don’t understand. Mari Cooper was already doing that. Wow. Training. Um, wow. Wow. Combining reps with with the Andrew you feel me though. And people forget like, Amari Cooper had like, almost what 215 to 50 against Arkansas that year and two touchdowns. Yep. And that was that was backing DeAndre De Anza white up but when the Andre went down I think Mark Mark Cooper was just so good bro. He was just so good that he’ll Mark Cooper clouded all of us at one point like it was just it’s just but i don’t i don’t know i don’t get the credit bro. Cuz he was phenomenal for Alabama. Like he was phenomenal. And that’s what that’s that’s my dog to this day like he
Justin Riley 34:10
was. He bought out in 2014. Definitely.
Unknown Speaker 34:15
He did.
Justin Riley 34:16
Man that question. Hey, can you talk to us about the time you got your first shoe and my saving?
Unknown Speaker 34:23
First? Oh, yeah, yeah, it’s terrible.
Justin Riley 34:26
I I mean, we’ve had some guys come on and talk to us about few things. But when was the first time he cussed you out? What happened?
Unknown Speaker 34:34
It was camp. It was camp during camp. My first my sophomore, you go into my sophomore year. Now. I was my freshman year. This is my freshman year in camp. And I’m doing I’m doing a scout team walkthrough for the defense. And I remember eally Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. eally is a quarterback and the Millionaire’s guard me so I’m jogging. I’m not even going Have speed is damn near damn near a truck. So this is a truck but I tried like 30 yards down the field and he might he might eally What am I saying his name right?
Justin Riley 35:11
Billy bilibili
Unknown Speaker 35:12
Yeah, he throws the damn ball 50 yards down the field. So you gotta understand on the sideline who was own there’s probably about 50 cameras you know this pre practice a lot a lot of media auto cameras are here. And I just see cost saving little red as walk into the on fire light. So this field is split obviously defense first team defense is down here the first team and the second team office is down and he just goes crazy. Like you wonder what the fuck why you’re asked is over here. Oh, scout team, cuz you gotta understand I was on that. I was backing up. There’s hints if for some reason, I was like, you’re gonna be on a scout team over here. The defense I’m like, when I do that shit, though. He was like, You wonder why your ad is over here on that damn scout team until you start doing shit full speed over here. You’ll never get your ass back over there. And I was like, and all you hear why this shit is going on is
Stephen M. Smith 36:35
that’d be the worst time to be here.
Unknown Speaker 36:38
man. Man. That’s crazy. Yeah, does
Marvin Constant 36:50
it matter? At least you didn’t get get your swim. Tackling now. Heisman Trophy candidate
Unknown Speaker 36:58
you wrote the shout Alexander rule. Yeah,
Marvin Constant 37:01
did man I care who he was.
Justin Riley 37:04
Did y’all seriously have a rule that you couldn’t touch him and practice
Marvin Constant 37:08
Him and do both? Yeah, he was always gonna stay off Shawn. Listen man, I was talking to the line back saying they wouldn’t know get rid of me I wouldn’t worry right but he you got the ball oh he don’t get the same thing everybody else get DuBose listen. My freshman year spring freshman year Sandy DuBose did he make me go to spring practice? So he’s like dancer you just gonna sit out a practice while we all love You’re working cool got it. So when we can fall camp that next year? Every time we got in our phone
Stephen M. Smith 37:43
both still to Shawn
Unknown Speaker 37:45
Nope. We do it
Unknown Speaker 37:48
we didn’t even think about doing oh shit like that. That will cause
Unknown Speaker 37:56
controversy division oh shoot man wanted though man could do no shit like that
Justin Riley 38:06
I quickly became you know modern mentioned this in your intro man. You were definitely the most electrifying and dynamic players in Alabama history. And you did it so early on in your career what really allows you to to just take off and become dominant and not just one position wherever they put you on the field. Yeah,
Marvin Constant 38:25
I wish I didn’t want to play corner hold on before you answer though. I’m gonna go ahead and take credit I taught him everything he knows
Unknown Speaker 38:38
what’s real Oh, to be honest. It was just really the guys in front of me like you feel me like you know, we get we get we get put on like you play for bandwidth like you’re a robot you know I’m saying like you can’t do certain things you can do and as a freshman and as a freshman that’s how I was like I was a robot like I’m trying to run a play exactly how they draw it up. But then that I started to learn today what caseta one he recruited you for a reason? Yeah, I mean right so so it was really just the trust of coke cuz it’s like once you get Damn your position coach like I love him to death. Mike grow Billy Napier I love him to death but and also dam the dam Oh, see? Like Like, like what’s my guy? That head coach? He was the head coach of Florida and Colorado. My Hawaii Lackawanna? Yeah, yeah, Kiffin and Doug mess. They some good good good people. But when you’ll get the respect of CO saving it’s like you can’t tell me shit. I mean, just to keep this frank with you, right? When you get close a window and Kasabian let you do your thing and you do it the way you want to do it. And he does nothing. There’s nobody else on this field can tell me shit. Oh,
Stephen M. Smith 39:56
I must say this. Christian. Do you know the funniest? No. Have you ever had
Unknown Speaker 40:01
was that
Stephen M. Smith 40:02
Kenny Bell bruh kitty bale was the funniest line of his kids at the podium.
kJ Ray on like all these kids crowded around the park that’s all you saw was kidding that little cool a smile
Unknown Speaker 40:33
That’s dope. Make me miss this goddamn Alabama Kentucky game man, you know that
Unknown Speaker 40:43
it’s gonna be a good game
Unknown Speaker 40:47
right now. Oh, good game bro. I don’t even lie to you. I
Justin Riley 40:50
think I think last time didn’t win.
Stephen M. Smith 40:53
Yeah, I’m telling y’all man. Primo obese. Primo is a beast
Unknown Speaker 40:58
Yeah, no yes we got some savages this shit bro
Justin Riley 41:03
yeah no doubt different mindset to lot layouts
Unknown Speaker 41:05
is the goat.
Justin Riley 41:07
Absolutely.
Stephen M. Smith 41:08
I’m telling you just riding Greg burns. You can hear me gray pay the money.
Justin Riley 41:23
You had a traumatic experience.
Unknown Speaker 41:25
Man What’s up? Man what you say he did? It was fine. It’s fine. Let’s get you on man. I couldn’t whatever it’s called man. I don’t even know what you call it animoca huh?
Marvin Constant 41:46
The banana boat or two
Unknown Speaker 41:48
tubing banana boat you’re on the stream and you gotta hold on to this motherfucker he got he got he make he create waves he’s got like he do a figure eight and he just do it in a bit creative ways to where you own this. you own this thing? So that’s fun and all but when you follow it when you finally fall off you got to sit down when he picked you up man I thought I was going down all the ways I started panicking boy I didn’t go back water if it ain’t no stop well you can get what you can get to a wall some shit like that.
Unknown Speaker 42:50
Yeah
Unknown Speaker 42:54
I get on the boat. I definitely get on a boat but getting that dead diving in it
Justin Riley 43:04
I gotta I gotta give you some props on something for the past two months everyone’s been talking about john matches hit against Florida’s trading. However, man you have probably arguably arguably one of the best tackles ever seen in Alabama history. You leveled that Mississippi State kick returner. Talk about that. I mean,
Unknown Speaker 43:27
if you go back and watch that video the way I
Unknown Speaker 43:32
was implemented
Justin Riley 43:33
Yes, yes.
Unknown Speaker 43:37
Wasn’t the act of I was looking to get dejected at that motherfucker.
Stephen M. Smith 43:45
Chris when you made that hit,
Unknown Speaker 43:52
man
Stephen M. Smith 43:59
I promise you the other side of the world
Justin Riley 44:06
man I was there for that game and not not one cowbell went off for a long time to that. That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. That was legit now
Unknown Speaker 44:22
though.
Justin Riley 44:23
I mean, I don’t know if that man can have kids now. Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 44:38
not not personally about a kid. Okay, okay, I got ya.
Unknown Speaker 44:46
Christian
Unknown Speaker 44:49
McCarron well AJ swag bro. aj aj aj with AJ was probably other than seeing there hasn’t been a question. Back with the type of swag he still, like, that guy’s been good, but he just had a different different swag. Like, he was definitely cocky, but I liked it. I liked it. I liked it it cuz she, he was giving me the ball. I
Unknown Speaker 45:14
remember.
Stephen M. Smith 45:17
I remember I remember somebody told me that he went to Nick Saban’s office and said, I’m better than all these folks. Why you got no scout team? And Nick said, well show me somebody. He went after.
Unknown Speaker 45:29
I believe. Now that’s the type of person he was like. He said, he goes, I’ve seen him. Well, I’ve seen a dude do a lot of things like I’ve seen him. In the middle of a huddle. Just be like, Nah, fuck that. We’re not calling that shit. Hey, look, this will be running bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah. He will do well, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he would. He did it. I’ve seen him do it multiple times. And explain it to an angle to save him and tell him why he did it.
Stephen M. Smith 46:03
Okay, what was the funniest part of that him doing it? Or him explaining to save it? why he did it. him explaining
Unknown Speaker 46:10
the saving why he did it because that was this time, bro. That like saving a room was like real deal. Father and son like, so it was like, Coach Saban will get routed up, but he will also after he would do it or in the midst of him doing it. Apologize in a certain way. Like, you know what I mean? So it was just like, he would do it in front of the whole team. So I went no secret.
Stephen M. Smith 46:36
So you mentioned that Christian bring some up cuz people talk like to pull this emotion out of Nick Saban when I got there. But AJ and Nick
Unknown Speaker 46:50
Saban never jumped into arms.
Unknown Speaker 46:54
That’s true.
Unknown Speaker 46:55
There you go. And that’s not winning the championship. on how to beat LSU LSU game? Yeah, so
Unknown Speaker 47:02
that is really true.
Justin Riley 47:04
Man. What that defense did is that mettenberger my gosh. Oh, yeah.
Stephen M. Smith 47:10
brah I feel so bad.
Justin Riley 47:13
Where’s that defense?
Unknown Speaker 47:15
Man, a pagan play probably his best ball.
Unknown Speaker 47:18
Ah, man, didn’t he?
Unknown Speaker 47:24
He went off that game. Oh.
Stephen M. Smith 47:27
That’s why the extra bologna sandwich
Unknown Speaker 47:33
that the Bologna
Unknown Speaker 47:36
it was flat. It was fried. Come on.
Justin Riley 47:47
Man. We talked about it earlier, man, this talk but from your perspective, that Virginia Tech game, when you completely went off, we tried to win the Heisman all in one game. Go through that from your perspective.
Unknown Speaker 47:58
Oh, man, that game was I don’t know. I just I just remember. All I really remember for real that amped up the whole the whole deal was Amari Cooper coming to me. I put in a lot of work there. You know, I don’t even I got my I got myself together. When it came to my physical. My mental. I knew I knew. This is my second year. We were not smart. So I know his playbook back to back like, so it just got to a point where I was very, very comfortable though. Like I was very, very comfortable. I wasn’t rattled at all. Like I wasn’t. I don’t even remember being nervous that game like it was just like, I’m about to go out and kill y’all. You know what I mean? But yeah, I just remember I just remember like
Unknown Speaker 48:40
Amari Cooper telling me you fit me. Sort of that base your hands, take it to the crib.
Unknown Speaker 48:47
And he did it over again. And it was and it was like that that night I returned a kickoff return that was all that we got. I don’t know what the fuck that was cuz I thought I was Taku every night.
Unknown Speaker 49:03
bottled up. I was like,
Unknown Speaker 49:05
I don’t I kid you not. I kid you not when I got out of that little that little bumper to bumper with those two guys. All I saw was CJ Mosley standing right. Yeah. And I ran right to him.
Stephen M. Smith 49:20
When CJ popped out at pinball, I was like, this whole Dini golf.
Unknown Speaker 49:28
show my speaker CJ was down there and it fascinated me.
Unknown Speaker 49:40
I did not know you
Justin Riley 49:45
guys run it run away from the Jets,
Stephen M. Smith 49:47
man. Yo, I’m telling you he needs to get out of New York Jets.
Justin Riley 49:57
Most definitely. Yeah, I’d rather be the xfl Yeah to Jason’s
Unknown Speaker 50:01
terrible bro
Stephen M. Smith 50:04
I will I will him go and I won’t Quintin Williams go get them both out of there.
Unknown Speaker 50:09
Quinn well, Quinn Williams is um he’s campaigning for the jets to get a devante Smith. He had an interview he campaigned it. They need to
Stephen M. Smith 50:20
see, right. I can’t I can’t I can’t get my Miami don’t take mini map. I’m going to South Beach. I’m calling the right
Unknown Speaker 50:32
now for real Oh, that’s that’s serious. Like, why wouldn’t why wouldn’t y’all do that by this? I talked about they talked about is either gonna be I saw I saw one mock draft where they were talking about chase going to Miami and Smitty going to the Eagles. Right there is like, ah,
Justin Riley 50:56
I love the idea of him with Jalen again, but
Unknown Speaker 51:04
Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 51:05
it does. But I’m hearing I’m hearing that the DOP is interested in
Unknown Speaker 51:13
me that’s
Stephen M. Smith 51:16
not it was not that guy down because now Houston, Houston, Houston wants to try to work out a deal with the jets to try to send the show to the Jets.
Unknown Speaker 51:28
He’s gonna be in a worse position. Absolutely.
Justin Riley 51:30
He’s got nothing to do they hate him. Unless they
Stephen M. Smith 51:37
I’ve always I’ve always been if he was Houston, when they let go of noop Hopkins for less than a toaster strudel. I’ve always been Scott Houston. I like like how you like that man walk and you don’t get a first round pick for that dude. Like you let that dude walk for less than a pop tart bra.
Unknown Speaker 52:01
Yeah, I don’t get it. I don’t get it.
Unknown Speaker 52:04
Now I understand. I’m
Unknown Speaker 52:05
gonna go get the what’s the what’s the what’s the what’s the what’s the old line the old line the left tackle. Who got caught? What was smoking we
Unknown Speaker 52:21
got for him? Yes.
Justin Riley 52:27
at all. Not one.
Unknown Speaker 52:32
Yeah, you said it. You said it. You said it. You said it right. You said it. You said 8880
Justin Riley 52:41
man I didn’t want to talk about your career in the CFL man. As soon as you landed there man you popped off what was it about the CFL that just made you go into overdrive and become a star literally overnight in that
Unknown Speaker 52:53
I want my Grey Cup man. Yes, you
Justin Riley 52:56
call yourself by yourself.
Unknown Speaker 52:58
Look the thing is the rules are set for 444 they The rules are set for excitement and that lead it’s a scoring league. So like you get a five yard Halo as a returner. Like they can’t come within that Halo come in at halos a 15 yard penalty automatically. So it’s set for you and if you can do which if you could if I could do what I was doing with one with no Halo one yard Hello. five yards, man. Come on. You give me five yards automatically. Absolutely. Oh, it’s over with so that’s really to be honest. That’s really what it was. And I was that when I first got there I was there with Coach Jones who’s a hell of a coach. He went to the bears. I think the Browns I meant lat even with the Browns past two years I want to say so. Um, yeah, it’s just the CFL is set for returners, though bro is set for returners and I recently just this summer got released from them from Edmonton Eskimos bro tweet bro
Unknown Speaker 53:55
Yeah, I saw that
Unknown Speaker 53:57
Yeah, bro like so now we’re in the works we in the works I’ve been talking to him it’s not Edmonton but a Toronto and a BC we’re gonna see what happens Um, but yeah, DC is nice. They just think it is like
Justin Riley 54:15
Didn’t you get nominated for the all decade team?
Unknown Speaker 54:18
Yeah, I did. Oh,
Justin Riley 54:19
that’s what’s up xfl is that a possibility? Because that league Right.
Unknown Speaker 54:28
Right now right now me speaking right now? No, because they’re not even gonna do nothing this year. They’re gonna they’re gonna do something in 2022 Oh, see not another two years. I’m gonna retire bro like being honest. Like hopefully hopefully to see us CFL Come come I’ve been training I’ve been I’ve been I’ve been getting back to the grind.
Stephen M. Smith 54:50
This was a actually kept going. This was a
Justin Riley 54:54
fax. I love watching that. I thought it was great.
Unknown Speaker 54:57
And they got a they got a lot of guys
Justin Riley 55:01
They all got on rosters to a lot of them are
Unknown Speaker 55:09
no real,
Justin Riley 55:11
and they didn’t, but they didn’t give Trent a shot.
Unknown Speaker 55:15
But they didn’t get a shot. What do you think?
Justin Riley 55:19
I mean, I get the running back approach and 30 but still man
Unknown Speaker 55:22
but no no no he didn’t have any breakout games like he was he was scoring by the time once I mean who you’re gonna get a ball to once you get to the team it’s not like he was it’s not like he was averaging 100 yards a game
Justin Riley 55:44
there was only a few backs and that lead actually did San Diego and then they run back at San Antonio.
Stephen M. Smith 55:57
Alabama de
Unknown Speaker 55:58
la
Justin Riley 56:00
Xavier Dixon went off man,
Stephen M. Smith 56:05
no him him him him and him in the summers kid in the secondary summer man he was
Marvin Constant 56:11
the quarterback number.
Justin Riley 56:14
Mr. Summers he’s a Pittsburgh right now.
Unknown Speaker 56:16
He’s in Pittsburgh right now.
Justin Riley 56:17
He the Pittsburgh right now. Got on a roster
Unknown Speaker 56:23
deal got on the road. Yeah. He had a pick six like the first game.
Justin Riley 56:29
Yeah. Yeah, blow it out. I gotta ask you this now, man. About coach Jones. Arguably the funniest thing I’ve seen on the internet today, bro, you need to be on TV. You need a TV series something. Tell me how it all started. Tell me they give me the whole backstory.
Unknown Speaker 56:50
Well, really, it all started. Me pagan and Blake was sitting in coach Cochran office. And pagan was just like, bro, you need to like, I don’t know, it was just me and Blake got a weird as relationship like, before there was a coach john, there was a coach Jones with me and Blake like I used to talk to Blake. And like he used to fuck up like, just like not not just little shit like trip over something or say the wrong thing. I would coach him up, right? So it just it created it was the office. If you go watch the first couple of videos, it’s the office vibes. All that happened that day. Like all that happened that day? Well, I’ll say all that all those videos in the office in a training room was like three days in a row of me, pagan and Blake just just training, we would train and we would go in COC office and we will just be sitting there and then begun we’ll just start recording bro it will go from there like it was nothing. All that shit is improv all that shit is improv like, even even the videos we make now is improv like, only thing we create is a sin and say you’re going to be this person. And this is the situation and then we just go from it. It’s kind of unique. How is how it’s done, bro. is really unique man and like, Blake and I have a roommate. So Blake and my roommate is the two people that I love making the videos with because they’re around me the most right? So they know. They not gonna laugh and all that kind of stuff. Like, you know what I mean? Like they just know Oh, no, it’s weird.
Justin Riley 58:25
Is there a specific coach that influenced this character? Was it like a combination of?
Unknown Speaker 58:29
Oh, hell yeah. It was a coach Bobby Williams. Coach Bobby Lee, he influence that and that’s why I get all the way I’ve taught and how you talk to him. And all that shit. Kiss my ass. That’s him. That’s him. That’s coke. That’s Coach Williams, bro. And, and he ever since I got the Bama. He was the funniest coach every day. Like he’s gonna give me one every single day.
Stephen M. Smith 58:58
I I know. I’m so proud of him at origin though. I really am proud of
Unknown Speaker 59:05
coach burns to going to the New York man.
Stephen M. Smith 59:07
Oh, yeah. I’m proud of him. But, but part of me hurts though. Because I feel like I feel like he was forced out
Unknown Speaker 59:16
before he dies. He definitely was cut.
Stephen M. Smith 59:21
But both of the both of them warn you right? But I feel more so for bonds because I feel like if nachi and Brian Roberts would have had Burton burns. Oh my oh my god.
Justin Riley 59:32
Oh, man.
Unknown Speaker 59:34
Oh my gosh. Harris. Jacobs, madam. Jacobson have them. I know if any of them boys would have had Oh, man. It would have been Oh my God. They all love them. Yeah. It comes from Hi, I’m Coach Williams, man. For sure.
Justin Riley 1:00:06
When we go there may be a series or someone you can talk to.
Stephen M. Smith 1:00:13
Oh, I got the press release written for you right now.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:18
See, that’s what we sound like we need to get together man and come up with some man get some videos, man like, get some episodes shot man like, I mean I I’m really I’m really I’m really into the the little small little little movie skits I like that because it keeps it keeps it keeps the attention of people you feel what I’m saying? And it had them It has them wanting more you sent me like when you got a little three minute segments. They’d be like Oh shit, well you’re gonna make the next one. You gotta wait you gotta wait You know?
Justin Riley 1:00:52
And it works man Yeah, we enjoy it for sure.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:56
But I made I made a promise to myself though. I was gonna start doing like two a month and then two a month because because I don’t want to I’m really I really don’t want to drain people with it because I love that wanting people to want more and when you pull out the blue and people like artists motherfucking crazy yeah, they wrote I’m saying that but you can also post a lot and still had just got it you just gotta gotta head out right there writing writing skills I had those ideas down so I’ve been working on that I got I got my I got my notebook right here bro filled with stuff man that I need to put more shit in there. You know what I’m saying? But it’s gonna come to work that that cojones shit. Oh, that’s but that’s far from being done.
Justin Riley 1:01:38
Yeah, I hear you. Hey,
Unknown Speaker 1:01:40
y’all got any ideas? Y’all got any people connection? Man any whatever, bro. You know where to find me?
Justin Riley 1:01:46

Unknown Speaker 1:01:51

Justin Riley 1:01:54
Man, you know so many people come on now.
Unknown Speaker 1:01:58
You gotta know Tyler. Hey
Justin Riley 1:02:08
that’s how he finds his people. He goes on YouTube and starts pulling up regular photos and put them in his place so man it can happen I’m just saying you got

Unknown Speaker 1:02:27

Justin Riley 1:02:34
Yeah, yeah, we love it. But uh, before we move to closing segment Christian What was your favorite moment at Alabama?
Unknown Speaker 1:02:44

Justin Riley 1:02:47
Which one?
Unknown Speaker 1:02:51
I had to choose to be quite honest with you had to be Miami. Oh yeah, just because just because just because of the setting for real That shit was lit but Miami that was a whole day See?
Marvin Constant 1:03:08
See I can relate to you on this. We played in orange bow BCS bow in my hand.
Unknown Speaker 1:03:13
Come on. I
Unknown Speaker 1:03:14
can relate to you.
Stephen M. Smith 1:03:15
I know. But did you love did you go
Unknown Speaker 1:03:32
crazy
Justin Riley 1:03:38
and a bearish reaction after that on home TV.
Stephen M. Smith 1:03:47
But nothing was better than Britain. Now why oh my god.
Justin Riley 1:03:52
Oh my god. What happened? You didn’t know. Man. The entire game Musburger is just sitting there drooling over the entire game. Putting the camera over to her section like in between plays. Oh, wow. I couldn’t find my girlfriend so they didn’t look at her. Right.
We’ll call no I picked him up. I don’t know what happened.
Unknown Speaker 1:04:33
He’s still in the league. Right?
Justin Riley 1:04:34
I think he’s at the saints now.
Unknown Speaker 1:04:36
Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 1:04:37
I think so to
Marvin Constant 1:04:39
come out of retirement if he can still play.
Unknown Speaker 1:04:42
Hey, man, man,
Justin Riley 1:04:44

Oh, yeah, man. So you’re not wrote a book. Because, you know, so many people in their late 30s 40s and 50s. Man, they just lose their eh, you know, stop taking care of themselves. So this book is designed to, you know, help them get that mental aspect, right? Because before you can adjust the physical, you got to adjust the mental. So it’s three different workout programs in there for different skill levels. I don’t tell people what to eat, but I teach them how to eat. Because when you understand what you’re putting in your body, what this does versus what that does, it tends to improve how people eat as opposed to just giving them food to eat it. So not just that, and you know, addressing your everyday stresses in life, you know how you get from point A to point B and maintain your sanity?
Unknown Speaker 1:06:47
