The one man in the world only predicted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs nine to 31. We got Joe Toscano back of doughnuts and Victor of roadshow VA roadshow on the sports cast. Welcome back.
Victor Arocho 0:58
Thank you for having us. I was looking forward today, Joey.
Santiago Leon 1:05
Hey, Joe, how are you?
Joe Toscano 1:07
Well, Victor is, is gloating. Because I said the Chiefs would put up 41. And they didn’t even put up 11. So Sherry has a big smile on his face.
Santiago Leon 1:20
So Victor, give us a background? Of course there is a bet involved since last week. Tell us what was the background behind it. Tell us the context.
Victor Arocho 1:29
Hold on. I had a phone going on. I’m sorry. Go ahead.
Santiago Leon 1:34
Yeah. So Victor, tell us. We’re talking about a bet that all of us had when not me. You, you, Joe, Nick. Last week, and like the previous show, and just Wednesday. Tell us the background behind it. And what happened.
Victor Arocho 1:51
I will the background behind it was these guys swore that Kansas City was gonna put up 41 points against that Tampa Bay defense. And that was the easiest money I knew I was gonna make. Because there was no way Now look, I still pick the bucks. But I didn’t think and I picked the bucks. We’re just gonna go score. 31 points. Right. I had the game 3128 I didn’t think it was nine. So the deal was 41. And that’s a lot of points. Even for the books were one I had to be 40 to 43 s with at point game. Right. So that’s number one. Number two, when I looked it up only 16th in the history of football Super Bowl have ever scored over 40 points. Right. So that was where that came from. number one. Number two, the the piece of the fact that how depleted that offensive line was for Kansas City, which came to fruition. Right was the other reason why I knew they wouldn’t score 41 points. But I did agree with the entire panel. I think we all agreed we thought it was going to be over 56 right. The over where we read and it was way under 56 I bet money on that.
Santiago Leon 3:07
And everyone else three people Nick Rosetti, Joe Toscano and Justin Riley, all bedded the Kansas City Chiefs to win. Victor Raja was confident and this would happen in the game. As you know, buccaneers defeated the Chiefs 31 to nine, Tom Brady winning his seventh championship. He’s first started the game, throwing two touchdown passes to gronkowski. And once a goto allow Antonio Brown, which Joe is very familiar with, and the Trump in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
Victor Arocho 3:41
the Bay Buccaneers about one second on our show. Joey Didn’t I say if Antonio brown scores a touchdown. Big Game is over.
Joe Toscano 3:55
Yeah, and and I did say that Antonio Brown was an X Factor. When you have when you have one of the best wide receivers of all time as your third or fourth receiver. You’re doing all right.
Santiago Leon 4:07
Let’s go in the opening, two touchdown passes to Grand koski. Joe, what are your thoughts over this game? this matchup overall?
Joe Toscano 4:21
I think is just amazing. I mean, like Victor said, you know, people expect maybe people expected the fox to win but they expect him to win like that, for the Chiefs have put up nothing. I think a lot of factors contributed to it. But that Bucs defensive line is awesome. The Kansas City offensive line was terrible. But I think there’s other factors too. It’s like the Chiefs wilted under the pressure, which is really weird because they were just in the Super Bowl a year ago. And it’s like they couldn’t handle the pressure. It’s just it was just it was just amazing. It was just really surprising. I think and you got to credit the the Bucs defensive coaches for coming up with a great game plan. It was it. It worked out to perfection. They didn’t even need to blitz and they still put a mountain of pressure on moms.
Santiago Leon 5:15
We go to Victor Victor roadshow, what did you see? In this game? What was your overall reaction after though
Victor Arocho 5:21
my overall reaction is I was right. On add a 10 items, I was right on like seven. I was on 70%. if not more, I’m gonna give them to you right now. So you can go back to the tape. Number one, I told you, Kelsey is going to be the main receiver in that game, because he’s going to be lateral. And mahomes was not going to have enough time to go deep. Is that a fair statement? I say that statement. Okay, so he’s not going to go deep. I didn’t expect where I was wrong, that tyreke Hill was going to be shut down. I did agree that he was going to get his but he was gonna get his on short passes. I also stated the fact that mahomes when he rushes to the line is the most dangerous, but I rather him rush to the line and not throw it and run out. Which is what happened. also discuss the fact that the defensive line Ryan was going up against a week. A week offense. Right. They had they mix them Matt, you and I some time Santiago spoke about that. There was way too many distractions. Remember, that day discussed? There’s way too many distractions for the Kansas City Chiefs, besides the COVID incident, and then Andy Reid’s son got into an accident. The linebacker coach which was adding towards more of it, so I’m here I got said gronk was gonna be hot. I knew gronk was this is super bowl touchdowns.
Santiago Leon 7:01
Best Game all season.
Unknown Speaker 7:05
But we knew it was time.
Santiago Leon 7:08
peaking at the right time. Joe Toscano Tell me what happened with tyreke Hill. The defense of the buck showed up. They were pressuring, of course Hill. They’re pressuring mahomes did they peak at the right moment.
Joe Toscano 7:26
He learned they when they play them in the regular season. tyreke Hill was at one point on pace to get 1000 receiving yards he had like almost 250 in the first quarter alone, they learned and they also were a little upset because during that game, Tyree killed did a little flip did a little taunting. And so they couldn’t wait to taunt him right back. And and that was a lot of it. They said that the Bucs defensive they were they were angry because nobody was given them a chance. Everybody assumed that the Chiefs offense would just go wild on them. So it was it was an amazing game plan. They they executed to perfection. You know, you you when you pressure without a blitz. That means that you don’t leave anything open because you still have everybody back there covering it and and you you eliminate the deep stuff. It was a perfect game plan.
Victor Arocho 8:20
Well think about it, they got their fastest defensive back back. They were missing guys, when they played. They were also clicking, Nick was Nicky was saying, you know, they played nobody on the way up but they played holophane quarterbacks.
Santiago Leon 8:33
It doesn’t matter where you play. He loves him pick who you play.
Victor Arocho 8:36
Yeah, that’s a Sunday. He loves that. You know, I can’t I gotta play the man in front of me. The team in front of me, I can’t pick it. You can’t You can’t blame a team for that. The other thing is, they got smart. They they did not. They play deep. They were super deep. They were not going to let tyreke Hill get behind. And so the reason why now thinking about it, why tyreke Hill got taken out of the game is because they kept their game plan of him going deep. The problem is mahomes didn’t have enough time to hit him. If you think about it, right. So he was still running the same offense is just couldn’t get the ball. So now in mahomes his defense he threw some balls that were like on the money while he was almost under attack on the ground.
Santiago Leon 9:21
Yeah, just on Twitter. He just goes off
Victor Arocho 9:26
the ropes. When he came out, couldn’t even imagine he got that ball. Kelsey dropped the ball. Tyree kill dropped the ball, okay, and it goes back to I’m telling you they had too many distractions. And then one more piece that will go so we can continue is the defensive line is always trying to tell you guys Nikki, when you play defense and you’re playing against someone that isn’t a starter, especially a defensive player, especially a defensive lineman or a linebacker, they are ferocious, they’re mentally going in that they will I’m going to beat you, Joey because you’re the second or third string you understand. Mentally they feel they win beat. I’m just saying if you were on the fewer, that’s your starter in my in my heart You’re starting. Right. But But Nikki laugh out loud. But I’m saying to you though as I think about it, those guys are ferocious. We agree the defensive line for thing. So imagine being ferocious and going after a second third stringer right or going after a left tackle. Who used to play right tackle mentally, you’re you’re mentally beating that guy in your mind. Is that a fair statement? Joe, I
Santiago Leon 10:41
guess it’s like,
Victor Arocho 10:42
what about you? What about Houston? Santiago, what are your thoughts? No.
Santiago Leon 10:49
No, the plan was great. I think the mastermind. That defense is Todd Bowles, a former jet coach. The head it right on the money. They gave mahomes 25. Quarterback rush pressure 29 times were pressuring mahomes. And they scored under under 10 points. That’s something that that’s hard to do. The Chiefs I think I believe all the Chiefs losses. I believe in the past two years, the Chiefs scored 30 points. That’s something that they figured out in this matchup.
Victor Arocho 11:30
Jones Brady’s highest points.
Santiago Leon 11:32
Yeah. Any thoughts on that?
Joe Toscano 11:35
I’ve never seen a quarterback run for his life like Pat. Patrick mahomes. In the Super Bowl. He He did not have any time at all. His only the only time he was able to do anything was it when it when he was effectively able to run away? And what is that? I think I saw a stat that said he he scrambled for 497 yards. He was constantly under fire. And yeah, I mean, your offensive line Did you know have injuries they did have people playing out of place. But still the beat that bad. I mean, you could have fallen and done a better job blocking in some of those people. It’s like it was it was pathetic.
Victor Arocho 12:19
So it’s unfair. It’s too hard. It’s too hard playing against the back good of a defense on my co host Byron Jones called him. He said they’re going to come straight up, they’re not going to let him get outside. And they he did get outside for a little bit and then they just let him run. They stayed with the receivers. None of the defensive backs came on. Number one, number two. The funny part about this is Brady is known that if you give Brady too much pressure, you know, it hurts them. They did this on some of the homes. By the way. This is the first time in the league that I’ve ever seen. mahomes have that much pressure. I’ve never seen him have that much pressure.
Santiago Leon 12:57
Something that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers figured out. Victor rucho Tom Brady wins the MPP Do you have any doubts with that? Who kooker his fifth MVP? Who cribbing the second?
Victor Arocho 13:10
And I’ll give you the order I would have had? Um grunk could have got got it right for two TDs number one, yeah. And then I forgot his name who’s just named 45.
Santiago Leon 13:21
Shaquille Barrett. Yeah. The offensive line?
Victor Arocho 13:24
Yeah, we’re the whole defensive line. The whole defensive line seriously. I mean, you know, those guys, they’re the ones dominated it. I mean, that that was it to two homes look like. I mean, you saw the frustration, you saw the pieces. I mean, that defensive line they came to play. And, and again, it’s not really fair. But again, you can’t pick and choose, you know, it’s not my problem that you guys decide to go get a haircut when Tampa Bay brought their haircut, the guy had to cut their hair to them. right brain shipped his family away. They did everything. And then the funny part is, is that Remember I told you he yelled at one of the guys that was crying because he was so happy that they won the NFC Championship. Brady yelled at him saying this hanging over man. They’d be doing right and he went up to every player after the game. It was said and he told me thank you he said about you went up, talk to their kids took pictures with all that. You think about it. They’re all superstars and all the all the players are taking pictures with Brady.
Santiago Leon 14:32
Joe Toscano your impression on Tom Brady’s performance and who would have been your second or third of your your other choices behind Brady to win the MVP or Joe Toscano Joey bag of doughnuts.
Joe Toscano 14:47
I agree. I would have given it to the entire Bucs defense. They just all
Unknown Speaker 14:53
be possible.
Unknown Speaker 14:55
I believe it’s happened before.
Victor Arocho 14:57
No, I don’t remember. I know. That’s our only defense. Line person got a MVPs Richard dent that I remember? Like it was
Unknown Speaker 15:05
a tie.
Victor Arocho 15:06
And he shouldn’t have got. I mean, he’s got it, but
Santiago Leon 15:09
it’s just another Okay. Go ahead, Joe.
Joe Toscano 15:11
Yeah, yeah. And it’s just, yeah, I could I could see giving it to gronk he had an amazing game. You know, he, it’s I think it’s one of those things where he can’t do it every game. But he could have games like this where he could totally dominate. So it is amazing. But yeah, about Brady, about Brady. And this whole concept of bringing a legend over this played all his time with one team bringing him over, than bringing in a pet and dama can sue Antonio brown and gronk. And making it all work on a year with COVID. It is insanely impressive what they have done. Usually when somebody does the dream team concept it is it’s a disaster. Because people think, Oh, you know, people think this is like fantasy football. And you can just add people like that works. But they made it work. And it was it’s it’s insanely impressive. Brady just looks amazing. I mean, my goodness. First of all, it’s a good looking dude. But still, he is just, it’s like, it’s like he’s playing like he’s 33 or even 23 or something like that. He’s showing no signs of age. What do they say? Father time is undefeated. I think father time might be defeated now.
Santiago Leon 16:27
Very, very, very true. Leonard fournette. As we were talking, we were speaking about the running game. Great running game lender for net has had 89 yards. Ronald Jones a second 61 yards.
Victor Arocho 16:42
Victor running game was there as well. But took a couple things. One, you know, I was just an end nickname on this call. Because Justin was like making fun of an LSU guy now all of a sudden is going to be the key factor. He was the guy came to play. I mean, you know, these guys talk? I you know, I’m I may be you know, isn’t it? I know my game. Right? That’s number one. Number two, shoot. What we were talking about him and somebody else you said Ronald Jones? No. Yeah. Ronald Jones as well. To to what was going to say is that we also mentioned the point when I was talking about is that these guys don’t get a lot of catches like gronk didn’t have a lot of catches, but look how many yards he had. Okay, so he he didn’t have a lot of catches will come to yards he had. Okay, 20 yards, exactly. Only 20 to 20 yards and five catches. Okay, so then that makes up still, that means you have to be worried about him. Right? If he’s asked five catches, so the three got two guys. That pretty brought over scored three touchdowns. Think about that. He brought two guys that came with him scored three touchdowns. Okay, so what’s scary, is they’re coming back. Now just a matter of you know, Tonio brown buku they’re gonna pay him because he definitely underpaid. You know, he made seven or $50,000 just for winning that game, right? He made seven or 50,000 plus 130 something 1000 for the Superbowl for winning the Super Bowl as a team. But as an individual, he made $750,000. And he probably got another one. And you know, Brady wanted to get him another touchdown pass. Right. So how would this team? Joey, you said it best with all the stuff that they didn’t do this year to pull this off? Can you imagine what that team may be like next year?
Santiago Leon 18:44
And that’s another question. Can they do it again? Next year, Joe?
Joe Toscano 18:48
Oh, God. Yeah. I mean, yeah, you know, assuming you, I don’t think you’re going to be able to keep Antonio Brown. But, I mean, if if this team stays together, especially and even if it doesn’t, I mean, you know, Tonio Brown was like a third or fourth receiver there. They’re still loaded at receiver. So there’ll be there’ll be fine there, who knows what’s happening running back, but they’re, they’re going to be fine. There is a style loaded team. And that defense is just that diva doesn’t go in anywhere. And it is it is amazing. So
Santiago Leon 19:20
yeah, they could totally do this again. And there was an interview this morning, with Bruce Arians saying that Mike Evans he’s a very charitable person that he’s able to lower his salary to keep a lot of his former teammates. Who’s in Tampa, who, Mike Evans, Mike Evans.
Victor Arocho 19:44
sorters Brady Brady, two Brady’s willing to get back in and I’m telling you right now, Tonio Brown is already you know, he’s gonna go into Hall of Fame number one, number two, okay, I don’t think that he’s gonna leave. I think he’s gonna I think they’re gonna pay him more They can they’re gonna pay him as much as they can afford. Right I don’t think he’s gonna leave because Brady’s the only one that can really keep and I were to so much to Brady, he doesn’t want to leave. Think about a Brady Brady’s made them over a million plus dollars on incentives because his contract was just all incentive based. You know what his base salary was a million dollars. You don’t think they’re gonna pay him four or five, 6 million?
Santiago Leon 20:26
something to definitely look at. Let’s look into Kansas City. Victor, it’s a very young team. It still got a lot of stars. Do you think they’ll be back next year?
Victor Arocho 20:37
Yeah, that team is a you know, it’s a good team. I mean, they were just again, they were just hindered with everything possible. Right. The distractions, the COVID linemen, the, you know, it was in, you know, it just it was the circumstances, all the stars align. Right. But I could tell you what, that little running back that other running back they had, he led Edwards Hilaire. He was scaring me because that guy was running real good. 64 yards. And then the other thing I don’t understand is why levy on Bell didn’t even I thought he’d be a factor. Because think about it. If you’re rushing a quarterback, you do a wheel route? I mean, you could hit the running back anywhere. Right? And levy on Bell, I don’t even know if you play much less did he get the ball. And then one last point I want to make is talking to one of the young guys here is like, you know, the enemy. You know, he probably call it the bad game. And you know, I’m like, Wait a second, that’s not fair is the enemy the enemy is not getting picked, hasn’t gotten the chance as a head coach, because the perception is Andy Reid calls to play. So you can’t you can’t in one state and say Andy Reid’s calling the plays and then when they don’t do well, Eric, the enemy called the bad game. Is that fair?
Joe Toscano 22:01
Point. It’s a good play. It’s Andy Reid, or it’s a bad play. It’s
Victor Arocho 22:04
the enemy. Exactly. So pick make it make it make up your mind. And with all due respect to that team, I don’t think it was the offensive play calling. I think it was the default. You could What are you gonna play? Well, we’re gonna run. They’re the best team. Look at the stats. mahomes is the best. The only one second is Russell Wilson in the entire league out throws everyone when he scrammed.
Santiago Leon 22:34
Joe Toscano any, any closing words for Kansas City? Will you see him again next season? Will they be a competitive factor in the AFC and the Super Bowl?
Joe Toscano 22:44
Here’s the problem with the chiefs. They it’s sometimes as a football team, it’s a good thing, to get smacked, to lose and to lose the bad so you can figure out what went wrong and what what problems you actually have. That never really happened. I mean, yeah, they’ve lost to the Raiders and not even know who else they lost to. But you need you need to get smacked. And they really didn’t do that. So they really didn’t realize what weaknesses they had until the championship. So they’ll be fine. They’ll come back they’ll, though, fortify their offensive line, you know that they just keep getting better every year. So they’ll be back. I mean, they are the clearly the number one team in the AFC, you know, maybe bills are approaching them. But really, chiefs are clear number one of the AFC
Santiago Leon 23:36
and the odds are pretty, pretty strong to see the Buccaneers and chiefs again next season. Goat versus baby goat. Right Victor?
Victor Arocho 23:45
We talk about baby gorilla, no baby goat. I told you they shouldn’t have never even put him in the category is go. Nothing. mahomes is a great player. But don’t start putting them in the name of go. I hate when they do that. I hate when someone comes into the NBA and they start comparing him to Jordan, where they compare him to LeBron. It’s all about consistency. Marino made it his first year. Look what happened. He didn’t do anything. Okay. Grant Hill, I can give you player after player after player one killer season. Was that running back from Atlanta? That was really good. Too much later. So you know don’t don’t don’t do that. I guess. Yeah. Hope I got something to share from you guys.
Santiago Leon 24:32
Victor roadshow last yesterday. presented his sausage and peppers, which I believe it turned out great barbecue. Damn, he made the sauce. It took him about I think he took about a couple hours to let slow simmer. No, dude,
Victor Arocho 24:48
I did it the day before. It was 24 plus hours. That’s that’s how the sauce. Hey, let me show you get on my ship. Let me share my screen. Let me let you and we gotta wrap this up soon. So Go ahead. We’ll wrap it up. Are you ready?
Santiago Leon 25:04
You’re ready. You’re all set. Go share that screen. All you guys. Oh, there you go. There’s a picture that Victor shows goes Do you like the app of Brady cute and there’s a caption below it it says take your son to Work Day February 7 Evans 2021 Tampa Bay, Florida you can see it
Victor Arocho 25:25
takes me You never know. That’s funny. Isn’t it funny everyone sees
Santiago Leon 25:29
anyways, Victor tell us how your Super Bowl snacks go real quick.
Victor Arocho 25:35
Oh man, I think almost exploded a too much. Wave. I played a ring you saw that sushmita cheeseburger ring on like bread cooked in its circular cheese buttered. It was not because my wife doesn’t like butter. But it was. It was just crazy. Then we had wings and we had pizza and saw. We have friends a couple of one couple come over and they had Arkansas potato salad plus we had a dessert and then we topped it off with my sausage and peppers. You saw that right? That was beautiful. Face learn how to make gravy from from an ex girlfriend and a good friend of mine from that she’s from Napoli so I made it fresh fresh tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, pasta, basil, garlic, seasoning garlic, and that was I was over the top at that time. But um, so the food was good. We had a good time, my son, but this is the first Super Bowl. My son and I were on the same team because normally we’re against each other. Like last year I picked Kansas City. Right and, and they won and he picked what they play last, the 40 Niners it played a 49 years and I think I had picked Kansas City. But I was rooting for Niners because Nick bosun boza family went to St. Thomas Aquinas here in Florida. And my son went to St. Thomas Aquinas, too. So the Bowser family’s great family. Anyhow, the snacks went well, Byron was sending out some great pictures of the food he was making. So anyhow, it was great. Got a lot of comments on my food.
Santiago Leon 27:11
Right there. Roger, definitely the snack. Simple guy. Joe, tell us about your Super Bowl snack. Time yesterday.
Joe Toscano 27:18
We did wings, mozzarella sticks, Buffalo dip, and ice cream.
Santiago Leon 27:27
Fair enough. I had pizza and so Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
Joe Toscano 27:33
Hey, I like that
Santiago Leon 27:34
white crack.
Unknown Speaker 27:37
Nice anyways,
Santiago Leon 27:39
that is our recap of the Super Bowl. Joe Toscano what is the best way to reach you online to talk to you about this super bowl?
Joe Toscano 27:47
Joey bag of doughnuts v instead of an F and on Twitter. And oh, by the way, the refs gave the the boxing game we forgot to mention that. Oh, yeah. I
Santiago Leon 28:00
want to talk to you about that. Was that like, you can think about the rest citizens. I know that. CBS commentators were saying that. The rest were getting too involved with the game and it benefited the Buccaneers. We’ll start with Joe on that one. What are your thoughts about like over the refs performance?
Joe Toscano 28:22
I think maybe one or two calls where you could say that it was you know, iffy, but I mean, a lot of those is just the Chiefs shooting themselves in the foot. You know, the offsides there was there was holding, you know, you can’t blame that game on the rest. It was just it was the Bucks were awesome. The Chiefs just bolted on to the pressure. And they they couldn’t handle it. So I mean, I joke about that, but it wasn’t the refs
Santiago Leon 28:49
Victor roto.
Victor Arocho 28:50
I remember that a game before though that you could say the same thing about Kansas City. Like they were getting a lot of calls. Yeah.
Santiago Leon 28:56
Anyways, that’s another podcast to talk about. Victor Raja, what’s the best way to reach you and tell us about your show this week.
Victor Arocho 29:03
Best way to reach me is at the roadshow on Twitter. So at var o ch O, you also go to my website. It’s Victor arrojo. com. That’s victrarocho.com. And then our show on Thursday, we’re excited. You know Byron is going to do a recap. He’s defensive lineman, Minnesota. And we’re going to do a recap there. Obviously a dedicated want to shout out again to Pelham McDaniels the third if you get a chance to look him up. You see he passed away last year. So he’s a we see them win the Superbowl. You know, that struck his last memory. So as you know, God bless him. So we’re excited for our show. We’re gonna talk a lot about you know what happened, the calls, we’re gonna get a little bit more deeper into the defense. But we all pick the same thing. It’s too hard, too many distractions and, you know, but I was hoping for a better game. Be honest with you. It’s still one of the budget it wasn’t it was a good game because I’m a defensive player. But it wasn’t the game that was hyped up to be you know what I mean? which is you know kind of rough but it gave it gave it gave the even the rest of the league a kind of a game plan how to go after mahomes right like like the other teams are because right now they own the AFC so what they’re going to do is start bulking up online Well,
Santiago Leon 30:39
there you have it, Victor. Victor roaches show at the Jersey Boys sports talk Thursday nights at 8pm on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook as Leon sports can watch it live and we’ll try to have Nick Rosetti on your show. We’ll try arrange that for at least five minutes
Victor Arocho 30:56
extra my cell number so they can sell me my money.
Santiago Leon 31:00
Exactly. Well definitely haven’t which he started a new job today at the bird scooter company. Have you seen Nick? Oh, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 31:07
What’s that
Santiago Leon 31:08
at that bird? So he definitely has plenty of money to pay you.
Victor Arocho 31:11
What’s bird? scooter company?
Santiago Leon 31:13
Yeah, it says the little scooters you’re seeing in like those city downtown cities. Oh, really? Yeah. So he works with birds, so I’m sure they compensated him really well. To pay off the expensive debt. I mean, I’m bet
Victor Arocho 31:30
you did save money Joey bag of doughnuts.
Unknown Speaker 31:33
Anyways, I
Victor Arocho 31:36
I might be stupid, but I’m not dumb. Why do you think I’m all in? But what does everyone say? What is it? What’s his saying? Like? Go for it. What did he say? What’s his saying? Santiago?
Santiago Leon 31:49
I don’t know. He says
Victor Arocho 31:50
