Ja Morant vs Derrick Rose Comparisons

Posted on March 6, 2022March 6, 2022 by Santiago Leon

There has been debate and comparisons between NBA players Memphis Grizzlies point guards Ja Morant and former Chicago Bulls and current New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose.

Both Morant and Rose are point guards. Morant is in his third season with the Grizzlies, winning rookie of the year in his first season, making his first playoff appearance in his second season, and making his first NBA All-Star appearance in third season (2021-22).

Rose has had a tumultuous career in the NBA, plagued with injuries, but had a tremendous start. Rose did win rookie of the year his first season, he made the all-star game in his second season, and won the NBA MVP award in his third season.

Stats wise, Morant’s scoring average has increased in his first three seasons so far. Morant averaged 17.8 points his first season, then 19.1 in his second season, and a whopping 27.7 in his current third season.

Rose had a similar comparison, but a bit lower. In his first season 16.8 points per game, second season 20.8 and 25 in his third season.

The only difference between the two is Rose won an MVP award, and Morant hasn’t. But Morant is in the running for MVP this season (2021-22), but is competing against Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, Giannis and others.

Is Ja Morant comparable to Derrick Rose? Comment below.
