2022 MLB All-Star Game Recap
The American League won the All-Star Game for the ninth year in a row, beating the NL 3-2 on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
The NL hopped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, including a solo homer from Paul Goldschmidt. In the top of fourth, Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run to tie the game – before Twins outfielder Byron Buxton followed with a solo shot of his own to put the AL ahead for good.
The NL didn’t manage a hit between the first and eighth innings and went down in order in the ninth against Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, who struck out the side on 10 pitches.
Framber Valdez got the win for the AL, with Tony Gonsolin taking the loss.
MLB Comissioner on minor league wages
Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said Tuesday he “reject(s) the premise” that minor league players are not paid a living wage, prompting a barrage of criticism a day after the Senate Judiciary Committee in a letter inquired about the league’s treatment of minor leaguers.
When asked whether owners can’t afford to pay minor leaguers more or simply choose not to, Manfred said: “I kind of reject the premise of the question that minor league players are not paid a living wage. We’ve made real strides in the last few years in terms of what minor league players are paid, even putting to one side the signing bonuses that many of them have already received. They receive housing, which obviously is another form of compensation. I just reject the premise of the question. I don’t know what else to say about that.”

Miles Bridges facing three felony domestic violence charges
Charlotte Hornets restricted free agent Miles Bridges is facing three felony domestic violence charges after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend in front of their two children last month, the Los Angeles County district attorney said Tuesday.
District Attorney George Gascon said his office filed one felony count of injuring a child’s parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death. According to the DA’s release, the case “includes an allegation of causing great bodily injury on the domestic violence victim.” The DA’s release noted that the children were present for the alleged assault but did not otherwise specify what the child abuse counts stemmed from.
Bridges is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Giants vintage 90s jerseys
The New York Giants are bringing back their classic 80s/90s jerseys and helmets.
That’s right, the threads they wore to win a couple of Super Bowls, that we associate with Phil Simms, Mark Bavaro, Harry Carson, and, of course, Lawrence Taylor, are coming back.
Giants will wear their throwback uniforms twice this season: In Week 4 vs. the Bears and Week 13 vs. the Commanders.
Panthers unveil black helmets
Carolina will wear the new black helmets with black jerseys, pants and socks against Atlanta on Thursday Night Football.
On Nov. 10 against Atlanta, he might be playing the villain for a change.
The Panthers defensive end can’t wait for the debut of the team’s long-anticipated alternate black helmets on Thursday Night Football against the Falcons. And with the pairing of the new helmets with all-black color rush uniforms, Burns expects a different energy.
