Broncos hiring ex-coach Vance Joseph as DC
Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton is hiring Vance Joseph, the team’s former head coach, to be his defensive coordinator, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Joseph coached the Broncos in 2017 and 2018 before then-general manager John Elway fired him following a 6-10 season that resulted in the team’s third consecutive missed playoff after winning Super Bowl 50.
Joseph has spent the last four seasons as the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive coordinator. Payton interviewed Joseph at the team’s suburban Denver complex on Feb. 17.
Jeff Bezos hires firm to explore potential bid for Commanders
Jeff Bezos has hired an investment firm to examine the possibility of a bid for the Washington Commanders, sources told the Washington Post’s Mark Maske, Nicki Jhabvala, and Liz Clarke.
The founder of Amazon hired Allen & Company, the same firm that handled the sales of the Denver Broncos in 2022 and the Carolina Panthers in 2018.
Bezos’ net worth is considered around $119 billion, which would likely allow him to outbid any competition.

Russell Westbrook returns to LA in deal with Clippers
Russell Westbrook signed with the Los Angeles Clippers after he cleared waivers on Wednesday afternoon.
The nine-time All-Star was waived by the Utah Jazz on Monday. He cleared waivers because no team has the salary cap space to take on the remaining $47 million he was owed on his expiring contract.
There is an outside chance Westbrook could practice Thursday if he passes his physical. The Clippers — fourth in the Western Conference with a 33-28 record — host Sacramento on Friday in their first game after the All-Star break.
Boston College stuns No. 6 Virginia 63-48
No. 6 Virginia suffered one of its worst losses of the season, falling 63-48 at Boston College on Wednesday. The defeat drops the Wahoos to 21-5 overall and 13-4 in ACC play while also adding what currently stands as a Quad 3 loss to their NCAA Tournament profile.
Boston College grabbed control of the game early and never looked back, with Virginia’s last lead coming when the score was 13-11 and 15-15 being the final time the game was tied. Credit Anthony Grant’s Eagles not only for jumping on a Virginia team that has been floundering a bit recently but coming up with answers every time their top 10-ranked foes were able to make a charge to cut into the lead. Makai Ashton-Langford finished with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Boston College shot 52% from the field as a team against one of the best defenses in the ACC.
