LaMarcus Aldridge announced his retirement from basketball for the second time Friday.
Aldridge originally retired suddenly in April 2021 due to a heart complication. He returned to appear in 47 games for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2021-22 campaign after being medically cleared. Aldridge did not play for a team this season.
The Texas product spent the first nine years of his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers, who traded up to land him with the No. 2 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He ranks first all time in rebounds and third in scoring for the club.
