Five MLB teams have never won the World Series: the Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays. As of October 28, 2026, all five are still chasing their first championship.
That list will change when the ongoing 2026 World Series ends. The Brewers and Rays are facing each other, meaning one franchise will finally claim its first title. NBC Los Angeles
MLB Teams Without a World Series Title
| Team | World Series titles |
|---|---|
| Colorado Rockies | 0 |
| Milwaukee Brewers | 0 |
| San Diego Padres | 0 |
| Seattle Mariners | 0 |
| Tampa Bay Rays | 0 |
Each of these franchises has experienced postseason disappointment, but their histories differ. Four have reached the World Series. Seattle is still waiting for its first appearance. NBC Washington
Colorado Rockies
The Rockies reached their first World Series in 2007 but lost to the Boston Red Sox. Colorado remains one of five active MLB franchises without a championship. AS
Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee entered the 2026 postseason without a World Series title. Now, the Brewers have a chance to end that drought against Tampa Bay. A victory would remove Milwaukee from the list of MLB teams that have never won the World Series. NBC Los Angeles
San Diego Padres
The Padres reached the World Series in 1984 and 1998 but lost both times. Those appearances remain the closest San Diego has come to winning its first championship. AS
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners hold a unique distinction: they are the only active MLB team never to have appeared in the World Series. For Seattle, the pursuit of a first championship also includes the challenge of reaching the Fall Classic for the first time. NBC Washington
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are still seeking their first World Series championship. Their matchup with Milwaukee in 2026 guarantees that one of baseball’s remaining title droughts will end. NBC Los Angeles
