Exactly. NFL definitely did not slow down at all. It felt like it was 2019 nothing. Business as usual. Let’s start with Caillou. Caillou. how surprised were you to see DeAndre Hopkins traded to the Cardinals?

I was very shocked when I saw it. I was like, What the hell is Bill O’Brien doing? I mean, since August the Texans have traded David Connie DeAndre Hopkins ranking of Julian Davenport. I mean, I was like very, very shocked to see it’s great for Kyler Murray. Now Larry Jr. no longer has to be that no one option. You still have Christian Kirk there, fellas very pricey. I was surprised because you just came off that devastating loss of the Kansas City Chiefs. And I was really surprised that I’m gonna see what does this mean for all? There’s this our quarterback deshaun Watson. I mean, we’ll Fuller’s in a number one. tk coupe isn’t another one. So what does this mean for the Shawn Watson as you lose a guy who’s I have 504 catches a second last five years 6590 receiving yards, which is second in the NFL in the last five years 46 receiving touchdowns. I mean, what does this really mean for watching if you’re going to really be affable bill Brian’s a general manager, I never felt like Bill O’Brien said that got the GM cited to begin with never like he was a great coach to start with. And now him as a GM is his shady business. I definitely think that raised a lot of eyebrows.

today. Justin, how good are the Cardinals now? Now with with Hopkins now they’re tagging King on Drake. Will they be a force in the NFC West?

Justin Riley
Well, they’re certainly making a lot of noise to make us believe that they will be a force out there. This is absolutely huge. And this is definitely news I was expecting. I mean, I’m seeing a lot of notifications throughout the day. Never did I ever imagine you know what one of these deals a blockbuster deal will go down. It just it makes It makes perfect sense for Arizona who’s just trying to get better and try to get out of the cellar of NFL to be honest with you I thought you know in order to help the water see record they would they would you know, go via the draft to solve that issue. No, they decided to go with one of the best wide receivers in the league and get DeAndre Hopkins and a fourth round pick along with him. Now, he kind of got like, you had to kind of question the Texans and their their thought process here. They’re they’re not making very good decisions at all, like Holly said, you know, they’ve gotten rid of some very key players and doesn’t look like it’s an organization that’s really want to move forward. It’s kind of similar to Jacksonville Jaguars, where they’ve been making some deals where they’re just sending all their great players right out the door, and you just kind of left scratching your head if you’re a fan of one of these franchises. Yeah, like you said, Arizona isn’t is only up and up. Yes, Kenyan Drake has the transition tag play placed on him right now. Many he can talk to teams. But you know, if Arizona decides to decline whatever offer it has on the table, you know, they have the option to do so. Drake was was a breath of fresh air for that offense. He came in mid season over from the dolphins at 643 yards and eight touched downs. After joining the Cardinals and definitely provided the spar that they were looking for. David Johnson just is not doing you know, I don’t really understand the the upside of Johnson gone to the Texans. The Texans are getting an old war horse is just beaten down. He hasn’t really done anything else significance for quite some time. I don’t know if he can recapture that. Who knows. But like I said, it’s a head scratcher.

Kind of what are the Texans trying to do? Are they doing a restart or we don’t know what they’re doing?

I don’t know what they’re doing because again, I mean, you trade a guy who has 632 cats in the first 17. He’s tied with Antonio brown for a second most in history NFL through seven seasons. Marvin Harrison has 665. I’m not sure what they did. You obviously had that devastating loss of cheese. I mean, this is the only this only this is the Shawn Watson’s number one target. I mean, he’s been one of the best receivers consistently over the last five years in the NFL. I’m not sure what they’re doing. You traded away David and Connie. It’s not like he has this great history of drafting players. So I’m really not sure what they’re doing during the winter would have in the AFC south. I mean, you went you should win your division. The Colts obviously got better. The cultivator on radio move today picking up the force button. And that was a great move by Chris Ballard over there and in the output. I mean, I’m not sure what they’re what they’re thinking you were going to win your division. I mean, you wanted three best teams, both you wanted three best teams, the AFC, I’m not really sure what they’re doing and what they’re bringing back. Even if they said him they were suspicious. to him and Bill bright Dino at idi and that was the case i mean they don’t get enough back on the value of player like Hopkins caliber a running back and a fourth round pick is just is too short

right now even Ben outgoing even then I still think you’d get a quality receiver. I still think you could get a quality because this was this class is very deep and chenza wide receivers. But even Ben Ben doesn’t still make sense.

Right now they have will fuller and Kenny stills apparently that is not enough for the wide receiver core of the Houston Texans. Justin let’s go to Tennessee. A big shout out to Tom Brady tied in sign Tannen Hill for yourself contract 180 million dollars are You okay with that, Simon?

To be honest with you? No. And let me tell you why. He had one good season and that and that’s it and it just bothers me because here you have Derrick Henry who led the NFL with 1540 yards, won the NFL rushing title. He also led the NFL and yards per carry with 5.1 He’s the man who needs to be paid, he is your franchise guy. He doesn’t need to be the franchise tag guy to me. That’s an insult. You know, he’s a first run back ever to get tagged you get franchise tagged after leaving the NFL in rushing the previous season. You know, in the AFC Championship game, he accounted for 69% of the total offense generated by the Tennessee Titans. Now don’t get me wrong, you know, look like tannehill had a resurrection of his career. Or actually he just kind of started getting going, but one year isn’t really enough for me. To Warren given that kind of money out and then also passing on the opportunity to get Tom Brady who’s arguably one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, if not the best quarterback. I, I just wouldn’t have basically sold the farm for tannehill.

This is really annoying, but I do. I do agree. I think Derrick Henry is demand. Everybody knows their kendrys demand at Tennessee. However, it’s just the nature of the position. They’re never going to go running back. They’re never going to go running back more money into quarterback. I think it’s very unfair. I do 100% agree. $62 million 118 only really gets 62 between 62 and 91,000 guarantee. It’s just one of those things where it’s the nature of the position. I disagree. I think Derrick Henry is the man of the team. But it is the nature to position so granted, you know,

It may not happen. And to be honest, if I’m Derrick Henry, even though he’s a team guy, he didn’t strike me as a guy that’s gonna be all about money. But the fact is, you know, if I’m Derrick Henry, I know I am the man, I deserve a little bit more respect than what I’m getting, I think, you know, may add a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. So it may affect you know, that his overall attitude. But then again, I go back, he’s a team guy. He’s a humble guy. And he’s not like the majority of players you see these days, but I think inside it does kind of hurt. But yeah, he should get paid. You know, I, you know, he’s proven himself. Through and Through, he’s been consistent. Whereas tannehill like I said, He’s the flavor of the week guy.

Well, we’ll see but you know, I just don’t i don’t believe in in flavor of the week guys where they have one good outing or they have a good combine or how or do this or that and all of a sudden just willing to empty out your wallet to pay a guy who’s not they don’t have the the consistency that would warrant it.

I think I think I think a Veyron both of the options. I didn’t get this between no see, I would just go back to New England. I mean, I wouldn’t go to Tim Bay. I’ve said this, you’re gonna be going to the hardware conference. I mean, in the FCS I don’t think they’re no longer locked to win their division as most people are going to think next year. People are going to say they’re locked. I think the bills aren’t opened up. I don’t think they’re gonna be out. I’d rather if I was Tom and it was the Geno’s who chose. I read it. I read it on the pages because the Buccaneers you’re going to be dealing with the NSC, you’re going to be doing all those things in the NSC, you’re not going to be guaranteed to win your division. You’re gonna be dealing with the saints, the Panthers. The Falcons just got better so I would just go back and and what the Patriots

I think that basically that case cam is a great insurance policy. Because we we really don’t know what Baker Mayfield is going to do. He’s kind of the wild card right now. It’s kind of up in the air. He’s on the he’s on the canvas stuck in the middle of possibly being great or possibly being a colossal dud. We just don’t know which side is gonna fall into. But bringing in kinome it like I said, Brent has a little bit of an insurance policy. You got a safety valve. You got a guy with experience who can do good things if called upon is a world beater. No, but you know he’s not gonna get your organization in trouble.

Great move and getting Don’s as the franchise guy. Now bringing in this great veteran that is hungry, and he’s ready for something more than what he’s been getting at Jacksonville. He just takes that defense to a whole nother level. Definitely, he’s gonna make that defensive line, probably the best in the NFL, or at least in the AFC. So I’m very excited about this. Justin Riley
Incredible move to Cleveland, you know, kind of shocked. Yeah. kind of shocked the Falcons letting go to be honest with you. I kind of felt like they were you know, cutting Freeman loose to try to free up some salary room or cap room to give Austin Hooper a better contract. However, it doesn’t happen and then you send them send him to Cleveland and you know Cleveland, it just adds another insurance policy you know, you know you got a deep threat he does over the middle and the middle guy, somebody who’s proven and can be that extra weapon that Baker Mayfield is going to need and he’s somebody who’s consistent and and don’t bring a lot of baggage or drama to the table like his main two targets there and Odell and Landry but just super move and The Browns are ready to start winning and start winning right away. They’re desperate organization. So they felt like they had to make this move. Now I don’t feel like that Atlanta really benefited Well, they actually end up getting Hayden Hearst from the Ravens. A guy that was drafted in the first round that really hasn’t produced all that well. So it’s gonna be interesting to see you know, who comes out on the better side? I like to move for the i like i like to move for the browns. I think it adds more outing. I think it’s a very important year for biggie. He’s in his third year Freddie kitchens Hugh Jackson, and now they bring up Stefanski from the Vikings their offensive line. I think that’s a very shrewd move for the browns, but I like their other moves that they may bring in jack Conklin, three years $30 million guarantee 42 minutes. I think that’s really important. Baker because they have a lot of skill burdens. Last year they had Odell they had Nick Chubb Daiquiri mark, but I still think they need to address the old line position. Because last year with the browns, they had a lot of weapons, and even though Odell does create a lot of dysfunction, I do think that they had a lot of weapons. I do think for them, it’s going to be more about what they do with the offensive line more so than what they do what they’re receiving Corps and they’re tight in Corps.

Let’s take absolutely plane from Cleveland to Dallas a subtle little bit. Let’s wait for the exchange. cowboys put a franchise tag over Dak Prescott Johnson did not give him a big contract. They’re gonna wait it out for another year. What does this tell you? Did they did you think they like the cowboy shafted Decker like what were your thoughts?

Justin Riley
I kind of felt like they did like I feel like it’s an insult man that has been the one source of stability on the on the greatest circus in the NFL as of late. You know, it’s just amazing. Seeing after tannehill got that big deal. And then, you know, it comes time for dad to get his and all they’re willing to do is put a franchise tag on and worth 33 million. You know, which I just don’t think it’s right. You know, this is a guy who was second and NFL and in yards with 4902 had 30 touchdowns. I just don’t feel like that there’s a long term commitment to Dak I just don’t believe that the Cowboys believe and Dak at least that’s what it’s saying. You know, of course we have until July 15. To figure out they’re actually going to work out a long term deal, but for now, kind of stinks for me.

I think it’s smart bid. Obviously they like that Dak Prescott when he’s really good character guy for the team. However, I think it’s smart business. Well, I think he struggled against top 10 defenses. And although up even when even for the NFC East thing when individuals on the line he had all his weapons and skills rather be Carson Wentz, who didn’t have his top three target didn’t have the Sean Jackson didn’t have a number of his top targets his ally was struggling to ego defense was really really bad outside of Philadelphia. So I definitely think was a good move. It’s not saying that that person is not going to get beat and always hate that the franchise tag is an insult because you’re still making $33 off the franchise tag and you can end up being like Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins use the franchise tag and his favorite now he got water with a two year extension today. So the franchise tag is not always the greatest install. It still gives you plenty of opportunities. And if they franchise them again, it continues to go up and skyrocket. So I don’t think the franchise tag is always an insult.

No, absolutely. And he’s arguably one of the best why receivers in the NFL, they just not getting as much press as others are. But he’s a guy that kind of brought that all fish to life and he’s a he’s a homerun threat, every play at the moment, he can just be he can just set it off. And that’s the guy that you really need to grab man. You need to keep running that organization and build offense around. So yeah, they need to jump on it and do it now.

I think it was a great move for the current I think the Vikings end up regretting it down the line. But I didn’t get definitely grateful for Kirk Cousins. He had some playoff deficiencies and he also had a big moment, but he’s great at getting it. He’s great at getting his numbers and you’ll keep playing the game and you’ll win some divisions but however in the playoffs you’ll be limited. So just His name

Well, no, he doesn’t need a pay cut. If he gets a pay cut then, you know, he needs to get out of there. You know, go the chiefs. I think they’ll appreciate him a whole lot more. They’re the G yoga Super Bowl. He’ll get a Super Bowl. Ah, you know, I got no problem with tannehill the person not blaming him for this, you know, blaming the organization for this they need to put the value on the guy that is their franchise. You know, the thing is they they need elevated quarterback play. You know, that’s the difference between getting to the AFC Championship game, getting beat by the cheese and not making the Super Bowl. You have a good quarterback in there. That’s worth That kind of money then we can talk about things. But Derrick Henry, that definitely needs someone there especially well, he needs a quarterback is gonna take the pressure off him to where the defenses aren’t keyed specifically on him and all of a sudden the offense gets neutralized. So I just don’t think that tannehill is the guy for that. So pay Derrick Henry.

I think he should stay in Tennessee. I think that he got franchise so I think should definitely stay in Tennessee. I think Tennessee is the place where they’re hiring. However, I do agree. I think you should well certainly be paid. I mean, we saw what he did. Against Keystone. We saw him against the Patriots. I think the man should be paid something to definitely look on and look out for. Justin patriots sign Devin mccourty for $23 million.

man. Got to do that man. You know that Yeah, again, protect your investment. This is a guy that is very deserving of it has definitely earned this this extension, so he got to keep that guy happy.

Second with the Colts. Justin, do you think there is some interest with Philip Rivers? Do you mind if Phil reverse goes through to any apalis?

Justin Riley
I do on mine? Not at all. I think it’s a much better decision to go after him as opposed to Jordan law, which a lot of people were projecting to happen with this draft course that’s completely out of the question now that that pic had been traded to the 40 Niners. Now, we definitely hope we talk about that later in the show. But yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me. And, you know, it’s kind of question is How long will he be there if he does come? But you know, I guess the Colts in the playoff conversation. So it just kind of allows them to get to that next step. I think it’d be a good place for him to possibly close out his career. Colts Trade first round pick for 40, Niners defensive tackle deforest Buckner, what are your thoughts Justin? Oh, that’s huge. I mean, they definitely need a beast out there on the defensive line. And you know, they did the San Francisco a favor by relieving them of that that the head against the salary cap. Now the 49 energy guy has had to start asking yourself you know, in this position number 13 what direction will they go now? Do they look to replace what they just lost on the defensive line? possibly get Javan kinlaw or even Derrick brown he’s still available obviously didn’t sell See there brown getting past the Jacksonville Jaguars. But some people were even speculating they could go wide receiver Henry rugs or Jerry Judy, our CD lamb definitely either. Any of those three would be quite serviceable all my mind, or are they thinking possibly cool quarterback. So this is going to be an interesting little piece of drama that we’re going to be watching going into the draft.

I’m not saying I want to stick with him, but maybe get someone who can be their future. But they do need a guy, a quarterback that’s going to show up in every game and, and not kind of fade out. You know, there are times where he didn’t exactly turn in great performances and you know, you can’t just rely on on that defense to bail you out. You can’t just rely on the running game. You know, you gotta have a little bit a little bit more from your quarterback

I think I definitely think they got to keep going. I think I think the grump only, I mean, he didn’t really play the best football in the fourth quarter. He really showed he I mean, I just think the locked in will go up. I don’t think they really have as much leeway as they’re gonna think that they have. But I think they’re locked in. I just think They got a Toronto what two pieces. I mean, he’s got a very talented roster. I think they got to figure out a way to make it work. I think it’s it gets a lot of it like you want to make the position better. However, I do think that they just got to stay locked in with malapa hoping the best

I love this move. I’m defensive lineman with 10 sacks and 50 tackles. Last season Cameron Jordan 15 asacs 53 tackles. Dan Dan, Daniel hunter off 40 and a half sacks 70 tackles Joey bosa 11 and a half sacks 67 tackles and Eric Armstead. 10 sacks and 54 tablets. I love this move for now my dad he was very good but I’m in the playoffs. He had two sacks on a fourth fumble in three and three playoff games while lining up on the interior. I definitely love this move for them. They have that’s why able to trade away or Buckner because they have like a lot of defensive tackles they feel very low at the position so I definitely think there’s a good move for Domini I’ve also in him also so I don’t feel like it for

But I think that heartbreak can be a solid pick there and the guy that can be I feel like will be in the league for a long, long time. My My question is, is whether the dolphins go and do with that second pick in the first round. Do they get him get Herbert or whoever may be a quarterback, the extra help possibly getting? Jonathan Taylor or maybe even getting a homerun wide receiver looks like Henry rugs will probably be there. So yeah, that’d be might be a pretty good grab. But, you know, I think that Yeah, they can livestream it. And I think it’d be just as appealing just as exciting. So I’m just I’m glad that we’re going to have this happen.
