The Bulldogs added former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman as a grad transfer after quarterback Jake Fromm left for the NFL. Daniels enters the 2020 season with 12 collegiate games under his belt after suffering an injury in the season opener in 2019.

Mac Jones played in 12 games this past season but started four after injuries to Tagovailoa. He posted a 3-1 record as the starting quarterback with victories over Arkansas, Western Carolina and Michigan but threw two pick-sixes in a road loss at Auburn. Jones threw for 1,503 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions on 97-of-141 passing (68.8 percent) in 2019.

About Bryce Young
Young originally attended Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, California before transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California for his final two years. As a senior, he was the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year and Gatorade Football Player of the Year for California after throwing for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns. He was also the USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year. During his high school career, he passed for 13,520 yards and 152 touchdowns. A five star recruit, he originally committed to the University of Southern California (USC) to play college football but later decommited to go to the University of Alabama.

The 5-star prospect was the highest-rated player in the Tide’s 2020 signing class and a player that begins his college career with high expectations. He will have to compete with talented players already in Tuscaloosa, but Young will fit right into the system Steve Sarkisian had in place for Tagovailoa last season. A West Coast kid with a ton of potential, Young also carries himself well away from the field, which is important at the quarterback position.

“I just absolutely love the guy,” head coach Nick Saban said of Young in December. “I love his character. He’s got a great family. He’s got all the right stuff, and I think that’s really important in the quarterback position. You’ve heard me say this many times before: if you play quarterback, it’s hard to play the position if the people around you don’t play well, so having great leadership qualities can contribute to that. I think Bryce certainly possesses those qualities.”

We all did and I just had a haircut yesterday, but this is not a video podcast so you guys will not be able to see it. Maybe for the next show. Um, the first the biggest news today was JT Daniels transferring from USC to Georgia. A big pickup by Kirby smart. Let’s go with Tyler. How big is this move?

Tyler Turner
Well, I’m JT Daniels was a five star automatic day High School actually the same high school as Bryce young. He was very accomplished as a prospect. He was a DTS all American. He went to USC, he was a hometown kid. A lot of matter day kids go to USC. He started as a true freshman. He had kind of you Actually, I’m reclassified. He was supposed to be a Jew. He was supposed to be going into a senior year reclassified, went to USC one two starting job as a true freshman on USC just wasn’t good that year. They finished five and seven. He had he wasn’t great. He definitely had some moments that he did not play very well. And then the first game of his sophomore year, he tore his ACL and Keaton slovis a true freshman Arizona kid that was a three three star ended up having a very good season and it looked like he was in pole position to start this fall. And Daniels decided to transfer and he’s it’s a pickup by Georgia so they got a highly rated prospect coming out of high school. I don’t know about JT Daniels yet. I he didn’t look great in his one year at USC. But um, you know, he’s, he was really touted arm and of Georgia. They have Jamie Newman who’s our grad transfer. He in he’ll probably be the starter this fall. I don’t know if Daniels still recovering from the ACL. I don’t know if he’s going to be able to play this fall. I don’t know if he’s gonna get a waiver to play right away. But there’s not really much behind Newman on the depth chart. So basically, Daniels will be badly more than likely the next year for the starting job with guys like Duan Mathis and back and they also have this kid called Vandergriff is a five star that just committed there and probably will sign this cycle. So yeah, I think it’s a solid pick up who knows how good he’s gonna be. He was definitely very talented coming out of high school and he played some very good competition in high school.

Alabama boys, would you think about this move will this affect Alabama’s playoff run?

I’ll let Stephen take this first for my voice my opinion

I mean, JT Daniels I mean, it was it was a solid pick up for Kirby going back to what Tyler had mentioned, had an injury there at USC so we really don’t know what he could be right now. his full potential I mean, if he was able to play that he was able to incredibly quickly healed from the ACA if that were to happen then we will be looking at kind of a Jake from Justin fields Park soothsaying because JT Daniels people feel more like Jake Flom or Jamie Newman would feel more like Justin fields. I talked to a couple of guys about new men. They say well, he’s kind of a mixture of, you know, Jane hearts and Cam Newton sort of deal. So that’s kind of intriguing also, but at the same time, no, carb has got a lot of new pieces to put into play. You got brand new office coordinates, you gotta learn. You gotta replace two starters in the office line in Isaiah Wynn and Andrew Thomas Beyond very swift is gone, but you have some dry. He’s had two knee injuries. So you got to keep him healthy. So there’s a lot of pieces that Kirby and Georgia steel have to kind of figure out.

Justin Riley, what’s your take on? JT Daniels?

Justin Riley
Well, to answer your original question, and will this affect Alabama’s run at? I don’t really think so. I don’t really know what he is capable of quite Yeah, you know, highly regarded coming out of high school. today. I went to USC and got the nod year one. Unfortunately for him, he kind of entered into a very difficult situation, program that is suddenly in disarray. So you really can’t pinpoint just where he is developmental wise, just because of what he has had to endure while there. And quite frankly, I’m not really impressed with the coaching staff at USC and they’re available and they’re ability to develop players at this point so I’m not going to count that as a strike against JT, you know, he enter enters in to a much better situation with Georgia, it’s still up in the air as to whether or not he will be able to play one right away or take a medical register, or before we forced to sit and just become interested in interesting to see how that that plays out. To be honest with you, you know, as Steven mentioned earlier, Georgia is a team in transition. You know, he mentioned several key points. I think it’d be probably best for him if he just kind of sat this deer out whether it be you know, doing what the NCAA requires transfers to do or just taking a medical redshirt that way, he can learn a lot, a lot more and develop at the right pace, but also to maybe clear up any concerns regarding his injury, but he has tremendous upside just how much he can capitalize On that coming to the SEC, it remains to be seen, but it’s exciting. Georgia has a very talented roster. They’re putting together something special there. And we pretty interesting to see how he fits in that big puzzle there.

Before we leave this stop. We’ll go to Tyler because because he’s our college football talent expert. How significant is Georgia’s talent right now? How great are they?

Tyler Turner
Well on paper because it’s per team talent formula. They have the most talented roster and college football. I believe we have 14 five stars if 32 Top 100 players, I believe 78% of the rosters blue chips. So they actually on paper have the most talented roster. That being said, Do I believe they are they have the best team? I don’t? I believe so. A lot of their talent is young and improving. So I think coming into the season, I would still consider a team. I Clemson better I would consider on Ohio State better. If Alabama plays Bryce young then Alabama’s better if they play Mack Jones and Georgia’s better haha but

but on but on paper per Talon yes and the most talented roster by a little bit it’s close, Alabama’s you know right there and Ohio State’s right there and Clemson’s close and LSU. But I would say Georgia per my team towel formula is slightly ahead.

We will have Tyler a little bit later on in a few weeks. It’s to flesh out this, these talent pools because they keep they keep fluctuating. Which is good. It’s a good thing for sports. Let’s go with Matt Jones versus Bryce young. If you guys don’t know Matt Jones was a backup to to attack eloah. He started four games he played it and all 12 gains, and he started in four games. Bryce young top talent top quarterback coming into the pool. While Tyler talked a little bit about that he’s from Los Angeles, California West Coast boy. And the whole debate is Bryce young, which is mag Jones who will start? Obviously, you know, it’s hard to see a freshman starting right off the bat, but we’ll go with Justin, how does this whole conversation started and, and would like to hear your argument?

Justin Riley
Well, a lot of it just started with a lot of the Alabama faithful, just being overly excited with the signing of arguably one of the best quarterbacks to come out of high school and recent memory and the things he did well, while today was pretty phenomenal. And you know, a lot of how bad fans saw it as well. It goes to income as Bryce, there is no hiccup. We just keep the machine rolling. And a lot of fans believe that Yeah, inserting certainly him right away. is going to automatically equate to more national titles and bigger all fence. And it wasn’t just Alabama folks that were talking this I’ve seen several articles on the internet here and there promoting this theory but also to some have even gone so far as to put rice young and early hasman rice lists, which I think is a little bit too premature but nonetheless it’s what’s going on. So, you know, we there’s been a lot of chatter, you know, these past several weeks. Definitely. It was addressed here recently on some of Stephens shows and and I’m anxious to bring his his take on this as well as ties. But yeah, it’s an interesting topic. It’s given us something to talk about. While we’re still awaiting the college football as well sports world to the resume.

Let’s go with Steven. I know you started to talk about this whole debate since February 4. I did my research maybe earlier. Steven, what is your argument with you know, mag Jones versus Bryce young isn’t an argument, or is this all hoopla?

Tyler Turner
Well, I mean, just just for me, for other fans out there, I’ve been called to a tongue about no hater. I’ve never hated to attend a day in my life or during his time here, the University of Alabama. And some of the same people would also equate me into being a Bryce young hater as well. I thoroughly enjoy what the young man did in high school, I’ve watched all the clips, I’ve went back to even watch more of the clips, probably even more so on the Upper 300 times that I’ve watched these clips, so I mean, as great as talented as Bryce young is the young man is an extremely, extremely gifted athlete. My whole thing is Where is the mistrust this trust? Almost basically borderline if not overboard a lot disrespect coming up in terms of Matt Jones and you know as much as people want to see to a healthy for a full season maybe one of those guys the tragic injury to a talk about know if you can pull any ounce of good fortune, that tragic injury it was, you know Bama fans got a chance to see okay, what do we have here and Matt Jones because remember, no Alabama signed two quarterbacks in that 2017 class we all talk about two, but Matt Jones of Jacksonville, Florida who comes from a championship pedigree High School, the bowls school in Florida. We signed him as well. So let’s see what we truly have in this young man. And in three of the four games. He started in, you’re looking at he’s playing against D fences that had what 1011 people to drag it off those defenses against Arkansas. Number talbin age I’ve got drafted Cameron Crowe got drafted against all bird we’re looking at our Derrick brown Marlin Davidson, Noah a banana. He even Nick Coleman. And those spots six guys from Michigan’s defense that were either drafted to the NFL, or made an NFL roster. So against these teams where you’ve got bullets flying, you’ve got pressure in his face. He’s in big critical games. With the game on the nod, you get a chance to see what is his composure, whereas What is his world with all How does he handle the situations? And he handled them quite well, I must say, even though people look at well, Steven the two interceptions because often that’s people’s famous debate, he had to pick six against all four but what does Nick Saban always say is how do you respond after a mistake? Do you still There, do you dwell on it? Do you meditate eat you alive? Or do you go back out there and keep swinging the rock like the crack getting slung out there in the trap house as you continue to get backed up and kick swinging the football and that’s exactly what Jones did. He got backed up. He threw for four touchdowns. He had Alabama scoring 45 points. As great as the LSU. offense was last year. Joe burrow in that office couldn’t put up 45 points against all but they pumped just 23 so for Matt Jones to put 45 and do more than what the Heisman winner did against Auburn against that volunteer defense. I think Matt Jones at least deserves the opportunity to start the season. Why Shawn proceeds better. But it leaves a lot of the opportunity in Mack Jones to show you if he’s not the guy.

Let’s go with Tyler. Let’s go with a unbiased opinion. Of course you know, Justin Stephen, our Alabama fans Tyler, you know, has scoped these, these talents for the past couple months for the past year actually. Ty, what is your argument? You think Bryce can start right off the bat.

Tyler Turner
Um, my opinion on Bryce young is, you know I saw him played started two years at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles. He then transferred over played two years at Mater Dei Santa Ana. He was 25 and three won a state title as a junior was a state runner up as a senior. He was he threw for 13,000 yards hundred 52 touchdowns at over 1000 yards rushing and 26 touchdown in his high school career. Um, he was the USA Today, national Player of the Year in 2019. He was a DNS all American Game MVP in 2019. He was the opening event by Nikes top performer in 2019. And in what I’ve seen of Bryce young, Bryce young, whether he’s played against some of the top competition America, teams like St. JOHN, john St. JOHN Bosco prep in California, de la Sol High School in California, St. Francis High School in Washington, St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida IMG Academy, and every time he played against top top competition, I believe he was the best player in the on the field. When he played the deed, it’s all American. All these kids are all Americans all those kids are going to all the best colleges in America and no one is better than Bryce young. He’s he’s he’s extremely accurate. And matter day he called actually 60% of the calls on the field. He audible the call. So he basically was calling over half the calls. He was basically an offensive coordinator of matter day. Um, he like I said he’s extremely accurate. He moves extremely Well he keeps his eyes down the field gets outside the pocket. He can make plays with his feet but the thing is he’s so good at distributing the ball. He likes to like bring the defenders towards him and he’ll he’ll leave the ball to the vacated defender on he just plays he has great field generalship has a high football IQ high accuracy is probably, in my opinion, the best High School quarterback I have seen since I’ve really watched High School quarterbacks. I’ve evaluate quarterbacks for that long but I thought he’s better and Trevor Lawrence coming out of high school I thought was better and Justin fields. I feel like he was better than Spencer rattler feel like he was better than two with all the law. So that’s my opinion on Bryce young. I don’t have anything bad to say about Mack Jones obviously, Justin and Steven know Jones more they watch for Alabama game. And I do I not in the meantime, Alabama, but as I have a hard time thinking, I think Bryce young is better than two. I think Bryce young as a future first round pick, I think he, I think he has an amazing like a ridiculously high floor unless he gets injured. I can’t see a guy that played at that high level against such high competition, where he was consistently the best player on the field playing against a lot of really good players. I don’t see how he can go to Alabama with all that talent around him and be anything but successful. Um, I unless he gets injured, you know, you can’t get injured and that obviously flips the script. But as long as he’s healthy. I think Bryce young is a future first round pick. I think he’s a future Heisman Trophy winner. I think he’s an all American. I think he’s a guy that’s going to lead Alabama, probably more unlikely to a national title. I mean, there’s stuff that can happen. And there’s other great teams like Clemson In an Ohio State and my Oregon Ducks, but But um, I just think Bryce young is a tremendous football player. And yeah, I don’t see how he cannot win the job because at the end of the day, Nick Saban wants to win national titles correct. At the end of the day, Nick Saban, and his only goal is to win the national title. Matt Jones seems fine, but what I saw of him, I don’t think he’s as good as Trevor Lawrence. I don’t think he’s as good as Justin fields. I don’t even think he’s as good as Jamie Newman is probably gonna be the starting quarterback in Georgia. So therefore, if he wants to win the national title, you do have to get good quarterback play, and especially if the other teams have elite quarterbacks like Trevor Lawrence or Justin fields. So I think the guy that will get them there is Bryce young because I think he can be better than those guys. I think he was better in high school than those guys, and I think it will translate to the next level. Justin one I Bryce young

Well, to be honest with you, I’m not quite sure if Bryce young is ready to to just take the reins immediately. You know, when the arguments that I’ve been hearing, you know, it was previously mentioned, you know, a lot of folks are pulling are saying that Matt Jones is a guy that chokes on the big stage. I think that I think that argument is absolutely ridiculous. You got to think about this. And this is a guy, you know, before playing Auburn, you know, at two games previous as a starter against less than ideal opponents, people that really don’t draw a lot of TV viewership. But then he jumps on a big stage with everything on the line, college football playoff appearance, arm bowl, bragging rights, so on and so forth. Yeah, he made some mistakes. As soon as he threw to pick sixes, one of those Yeah, it was all on him. Shoulders, second of which was an absolute fluke. You know, he threw the ball towards nausea hairs bounced off nausea landed in the hands of the cubby McClain who raised 100 yards for a touchdown. That’s just a flu but one of the things I wouldn’t call that choking and big game, if you’re gonna go choking to me means just being you’re done, you’re through you, you basically limp your way through the rest of the game and that’s not what Matt Jones did not Jones had that Michael Jordan mentality. Okay, he bested me. Okay, now I’m pissed off. Now I’m going to answer what just happened here and that’s what Matt Jones did after every mistake. He answered like a prizefighter, he threw a touchdown. One of those being a 58 yard touchdown pass over the middle to Jalen waddle. So he was able to respond whenever things are, you know, thrown his way and, and then, and then to, this is a guy that that just kept tech kept on getting punched in the mouth to get hits on the chin and was willing to sacrifice his body just to get a played on I mean, he was getting beat up. But he kept don’t get not like Rocky Balboa and just kept on slugging away slugging away slugging away, goes into Michigan. And you know, like Steven mentioned earlier, how many draft picks on that defense came out of Michigan a lot and he was able to have a pretty impressive day. And that was that that’s a big stage. It’s a big bowl game is a big opponent. And so he responded very well. And it’s really frustrating that I’m not trying to take anything away from from Bryce young at all. But people are bypassing Matt Jones like he doesn’t even exist like he’s not even there. Like he’s an afterthought. He was just a whole over guy until Bryce can walk in there and assume the responsibilities Well, it’s Scottie Pippen. It’s not that way at all. One of the is you know, coming into the SEC coming into college, even though Bryce did amazing things at a high school level and against stellar opponents, that was high school coming into college is a completely different animal. He is going to this this season alone, Alabama is playing is playing, playing Georgia is playing LSU playing USC, presumably, tentatively, playing Auburn playing Texas a&m, but playing very important role games in hostile environment. You know, we got track games there against Ole Miss, and against Tennessee. And you know, people saw the Alabama nation and sec may sit there and scoff at those two teams that I just mentioned. But Oxford is a very hard place to play. So it was Knoxville. I can definitely vouch for Oxford. Ole Miss might not be much at all and might not have done anything on that. national scale in quite some time. But if if they’re going to show up to any game any given season is going to be against Alabama. And believe me once in Oxford that places rockin and add to it now you got the icing on the cake of Lane Kiffin so they’re gonna be up they may and they’re gonna be juiced. I just don’t know if an inexperienced freshmen you know, straight out the gate is going to be able to spawn well on the road and hostile environments and definitely against those major home games. And then to there is no familiarity,

I’m sorry, I’m just all maxed out. He’s got four years of familiarity in that all offense with those players at least two to four years with the players on that all fence. He’s got the timing down. He’s got everything. He’s got the chemistry going for him. Whereas Bryce young Didn’t you know, Bryce young dig come in earlier with the hugs Playing in the spring, spring practice in a day game unfortunately COVID wiped that out and took that valuable time away to where he could start a stash on those things. But fortunately it wasn’t it was taken away. So he’s gonna be playing catch up for a while.

Let’s go to Steven Smith. Which I like Justin’s last answer. He brought in a little bit of boxing. It was that Mike Tyson motivation. Steven Smith when I Bryce you know, why, Kenan? I start, you know, day one, he’s the top talent coming from high school. Is it because High School talent, you know, come into college is different. Why not? Bryce? Stephen?

Tyler Turner
Well, it’s not just not just coming to town, right? It’s not just coming to town. It’s different, along with not having a spring and here’s the interesting question here. Is this your thoughts? This is just the thought here. Kim Bryce young handled the pressures of playing for the why show has met the Hey, how you doing, man? What’s up? And ought to be here for our show has not met the angry ticked off spit net the ground breaking headsets throwing clipboards down in your face. Normally that should give you a buck here with Brian Shaw that that Nick Saban Yes. Can you hear the fresher applying for that Nick Saban that Nick Saban doesn’t have some of the friends that Nick says it can be somewhat of a tyrant that Nick Saban is if you’re not excellent, even down to the sweat off your brow? You ain’t going in there so he could handle playing for one Nick Saban? You know, number two, Justin brought up the whole thing of you know, playing on the road. If Bryce young is to assume the starting job, he would go into some hostile environments and he could have some young receivers break the rotation. That’s that’s how we say it’s around shave or stars or john matchy or any one of these freshmen in a year like a trade show on hold or Javan Baker now in the hostile environments where fans are ringing your ear off throwing gestures you have an affinity that you getting crazy those young receivers might be a little bit startled fare can fly shown as a flash to be the guy. Hey, everybody call and look at me calm down, keep it cool, keep it cool. Let’s go do this. Can he go out there and that type of environment being thrust out there and doing that and then last but not least, to Bryce young held the expectations of playing for a fan base that will pump you up when you have a baby baby baby once you drop low. Here at once you drop low. So can Bryce young handle those things? It’s a lot to take in. He played it monitor it monitor High School. That was pressure on him. Absolutely. But when you’re playing the one college ball is Alabama. That pressure hits a whole lot.

Yep. And sec as well. Definitely top conference. Okay, so, scenario happens. You know, Mike Jones goes through the season, they go into playoffs. Matt Jones does not do well so far for big games. Do you see a scenario where Nick Saban puts in Bryce young? And he just wins the game for them? Anyone? Well, Tyler, we think about that. You think that’s the scenario that’s gonna happen. Bryce will be like the two that comes in in a playoff game and just wins the game.

Yeah, I mean, most often, I think you good to happen. One one argument I’d have against Bryce young. I mean that what said Bryce did not get time to practice a lot during during spring ball. There is a little bit of picking up the playbook, but I saw Bryce young play at the opening and I saw him play at the Adidas, all American. Both those both those events. You don’t know who you’re playing with. It’s a bunch of kids. all over the country. You also are basically just thrown in a playbook that week. I have watched that event. I don’t know five cent opening every year for last four or five years. I’ve also watched the Adidas all American and normally the offenses don’t look very good, because obviously there normally is a timing thing that goes down because you just you’ve practiced with these guys for a week. You’ve had a week of the playbook normally you do not look very good. Now, Bryce young, I think he was something like nine for 12 with three touchdowns and he was the MVP of the game. And it looked as if you’ve been playing with these guys all year long, throwing bombs, Jalen McMillan, you know, Goes to Washington and he had a nice long pass I’ve got the other guys in but he just there It seems like he’s at a whole nother kind of skill level than even most good quarterbacks I see coming out. Like I remember fields when he came out. And but I remember he there was some things I was just like, oh, he’s a great athlete. He has a lot of fun. Physical talent. But you know, you could tell there’s gonna be just a little bit of an adjustment. Lawrence was pretty good. What did surprise me that he ended up winning and luck he ended up winning the national title as a freshman, and today was probably probably two and Lawrence were the two best that I saw other than young coming out of high school. And what happened to lead them to the national title ended up being a Heisman Trophy finalist the next year and basically it was one of the most productive college quarterbacks in college history. And then Trevor Lawrence won national title his first year led to the national title game his second year. So the two other guys that I didn’t even think were as good as Bryce young are immediately ended up winning national titles being Heisman Trophy finalists within the first two years. So I just think that Yeah, in this era, they just never know. I think Bryce young would come in and Jay, he’s definitely more than capable of leading them to victory. Well, right now I have to lean towards Matt Jones because seeing what he’s been able to do, I’ve seen how he’s been able to respond on big stages and pressure situations. And, and like I mentioned earlier, I’ve seen that he does have the familiarity with his offense. He has the timing and everything down and he is the undisputed leader of that team right now. This is a guy that He’s a fighter, and these guys around him will go to war for Matt Jones and will die for Matt Jones. You know, he’s there ride or die, you know? So, right now, I just, I put a lot of stock in him, you know, from experience standpoint. You know, everybody likes to use the arguments. Well, look what to do look like Trevor Lawrence did Well, let’s be honest with you know, how often does lightning strike you know, twice so quickly, you know i to talk about Lola and Trevor Lawrence that were anomalies. It just, it’s not something that just happens every day or every season. I mean, look at to talk about lower, you know, he actually came in ready he came in looking the part he enrolled early he has the mental aspect down had the timing down just he was just ready. You know what the quarterback position and I know a lot of people look at Well, you know, well, yeah, Matt Jones had the team’s ear but so that Jalen hurts the difference between Mack Jones Jalen hurts this right here. Jalen hertz situation where he had a slight fear people don’t like to think about this, but James Hart says Like, if I make a mistake, what’s going to happen to me right? If I make a mistake when I get benched by Kosta? Even if I make a mistake when I get pool well I lose my job to to knowing that I got this five star Dynamo behind me if I go out here and if I turned the ball over just the slightest bit what could happen and what that did was even though Jalen hertz only had one interception in the 2017 season, wide receiver such as carbon Ridley Robert falls for Tam seems even the freshmen of Judy Smitty and Rog, they got highly frustrated, and they got frustrated because they’re looking at Jane and going young man, throw me the ball. I’m wide open. But Jane was like if I throw it what happens if I still have that goal, what will happen and you cannot play with that type of fear and somewhat in decisiveness? For Bryce personally No, I don’t. Um, now as far as the coaching staff getting to evaluate him and thinking they have enough film on him and they have enough seen enough out of them. I think it does affect him. I believe they’re trying to do a push where they’re gonna get six or seven extra practices in for all teams across the NCAA, the NCAA is trying to pass something to kind of make up for that last spring spring practices. So if you get that a little extra evaluation, and he’s just plain and simple, able to outplay Mack Jones, which I think he will be able to I believe he’ll be able to make up for any lost time that he had with the spring.

Well, I just kind of got I’m going to go with my gut. I feel like it’s gonna be Matt Jones season. I feel that Bryce young will play I think to the coaches will draw packages to bring him in certain situations, but until proven otherwise. I feel like this is Matt Jones year, and he’s gonna be the starter for all the games regular season and God willing, postseason. So I don’t foresee. Brian Shawn coming in right away and assuming the rain is not that he won’t eventually be capable as the season progresses, as he learns as it becomes more comfortable as he establishes those bonds and relationships with his receivers offensive line and running backs. I think that you gotta trust the process this year and let Mac do his thing until he proves he can’t. Matter of fact, I’ll even go say, I will go ahead and say this. You know, Alabama fans don’t need to do what Georgia fans are doing when Justin fields was there. You know, as soon as Jake Fromm did something that wasn’t spectacular or had a bad game, or just was Whoa, um, you know, start chirping start, you know, begging for fields to come on the field. Alabama fans don’t need to do that. Concerning Bryce, Bryce young and Matt Jones. There will be games where Matt Jones probably doesn’t do well. And you’ve got to trust him and trust Nick Saban. And give him a chance because those days are going to come and just accepted that doesn’t mean you automatically gonna dismiss him and bring in the the five star wonder. That’s a good. That’s a good question. man that has a really good question. I could see one matter in the year. I can see the year but no, and here’s why. I mean, as as competitive as Bryce young is, he is Matt Jones is just that competitive, if not more, and he’s heard the charts he’s heard the, the nice thing going around, I got a story to it made a bad mistake. He told me and your Mac just as back when Mac was kind of a freshman in the day, he was running scout team. Well, he’s throwing bombs to top Shavers. And Coach Saban looks at him and goes, we just stopped throwing in the dawn ball quit. And so Matt Jones get up and lasers mixtape and right in the face. Coach tell your deepest story. Stop it. And everybody turns around and goes, who in the heck just stay at that. And when they found out it was Mack Jones, like, everybody was like all male. Even Nick Saban was like, oh, okay, I got me somebody that’s gonna challenge me a little bit. And that’s kind of what Saban’s always wanted. somebody that’s just as fiery just as competitive as he is. So while people are slowly trying to run up here, Matt can’t do it. Matt can’t do it. He ain’t good enough. mag is just as competitive and even more competitive to what folks think. So I will say, Mac goes the entire season. I’m telling you, I was right there on Tyler. I mean, the Alabama guys and not just YouTube guys, I’ve seen them online and There’s a lot of people that really believe in Mac Jones. So good for Mac. I personally from what I’ve seen, I think he’s a fine quarterback. I think he’s solid. I just don’t think he’s great. He’s thin. Um, I mean, sure, sure. They’ve never no one’s Peyton Manning hardly. But I mean, I just think he’s a good solid quarterback, but in my opinion, he’s, he’s not no it’s not same kind of talent in the same league as Bryce young. Um, so and I obviously am very high, bright young. I thought Bryce Young was the best quarterback last year on I think he’s the best quarterback. Like I said, overall, when it comes to the combination of productions accolades on play against a high level of competition probably has been the best quarterback that I’ve seen come out of prep for four years. for Bryce, I mean, it comes down to first and foremost you know, how quickly can he really not only just bog with those guys but go into Toby’s sec atmospheres and show no fear? He goes They have to see atmospheres where folks are coming at him bullets flying and he shows no fear I can definitely see him you know getting worked into a lot more action and just no one down there of course, of course it’s gonna play the entire season Sabres gonna want to get in some action the entire season by in terms of starting he goes out there and shows hey I mean I can throw the ball I can I can pass the ball I can run I can run around I can make people you know very very frustrated on the defensive side and hey, I mean for the board to see what that does but you know for right now, I think we’re looking at somebody you know, and Mac Jones who sees the blueprint, I think he’s got a much better on what people give him credit for. I think he’s a little bit more athletic when people give him credit for and just being like my thoughts here. Last spoke to a guy in Florida that covered Mac in high school, and he’s close to connect with quite a few NFL scouts. And now let’s talk about the guy Hey, Matt goes out here and balls out. He’s gonna get the NFL combine. So it’s gonna be interesting.
