Justin Riley
I didn’t realize I was stepping into a central union, but I’m ready for it and everything that comes with it. So

Steve Brown
it’s just not a central reunion. I did a stint at Parkview learning so for about a semester, so yeah, I get an alternative schools.

Unknown Speaker
About a semester or two, maybe three. But

Justin Riley
yeah, that was a fella by branch of essential right.

Marvin Constant
Beside Steve extended stay over at Parkview. You know, it’s just not about glorifying the gentlemen that are on here tonight. Central Tuscaloosa has produced some of the most talented individuals on this planet. You know, there’s so many people came out of Central you know, you can go to Deontay Wilder, former Heavyweight Champion you got em 16 Josh bank, Grammy nominated music producers made music for some everybody as well. You got BJD Florida State legend Brandon Washington LSU have Bishop LSU Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That list is so long, so I’m just here to pay homage to us our baby.

Justin Riley
Won’t you do us all a great favor and introduce each of our potential guests and the One who’s not and that’s Kenny.

Marvin Constant
Well yeah one is a little bit late but you know he’s from Mississippi so that’s what we expect you know, I’m sorry Justin in person Mississippi last day so I’m sorry

Justin Riley
I don’t play Mississippi remember I got out of here and went to University of Alabama got my degree I actually claim Birmingham so

Marvin Constant
anytime you look at national stats for anything Mississippi’s always number 50 they just automatically

Unknown Speaker
actually they’re negative 50

Marvin Constant
so we have some amazing guests. You know, first and foremost I want to introduce a returning guest, the funny man himself, and I say keeps me laughing every time I talk to him every time I see him, the man himself, Steve Brown. We also have Mr. Alvin Geary Ladies and gentlemen, there’s so many things that can be said about this man from his time and ruber stood his band. I don’t know what that whole American Idol experience was like, you know how to, you know, the job support him through that, from writing music from some of the industry’s legends. Kelly Rowland manage them kiss crush and kill it too. You got to tell me more about that. Everybody, so I’ve known him since I was a kid. You know, I actually played Little League football with his brother. So I’ve actually been known him for over 30 years. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, but it’s been about 30 years. Yeah. Fans a person with our gray hair and land whenever he decides to arrive, Mr. Kenny Smith of Meridian, Mississippi, former third round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints eight year NFL vet play with the saints, the chiefs and the New England Patriots, another great friend of ours. So hopefully he’ll be joining us soon. And back to you, Justin.

Justin Riley
First of all great to have all y’all here. Man. This is a blessing. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome.

Steve Brown
You know, Justin, sir. I noticed something. You you you don’t really talk like like you’re talking off the air. You sound like a brother.

Unknown Speaker
Hi, I’m Justin.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, what’s going on, bro?

Justin Riley
Man. That’s my stage voice man. Yeah, I’m trying to make it look like I’m semi professional member I am Mississippi. So I do that. By the way, man. By the way, Steve. I was looking for a good picture to advertise for you. And I was going through Google. Man I found out Oh, my specs account picture man. You still on Myspace?

Unknown Speaker
Yep. I sure.

Steve Brown
Yes, I am. Yes. As a matter of fact, I had one day in candy. DM me and she asked me to come over and eat some greens were later on. So yes, I’m with it. I’m with it. I’m waiting. I don’t really deal with a lot of older women in the moment because older women Believe it or not. They talk about young women. But older women can be a little nasty to Justin they can be a little nasty. I was I was having I hate to say it, but I got to see it. I was having unprotected sex with this old woman named Irma and she gave me gout. I have no idea how I got gout. I don’t I don’t

Justin Riley
I was she on one of your cereal bowl Chronicle videos recently.

Unknown Speaker
Yes. But

Justin Riley
that’s okay, man. I know. We provide grief counseling after the show was over. We’ll pray over you.

Unknown Speaker
All right.

Justin Riley
Any comment, Alvin?

Unknown Speaker
Yes.

Unknown Speaker
That’s it. That’s my comic.

Unknown Speaker
Book. Oh, now? Yes.

Justin Riley
Well, uh, let’s go ahead and get to our next segment. I know, everybody’s ready yet to the game this past weekend. Our favorite segment is now constant chaos, brought to you by mallos, who has one of the greatest food traditions since 1946. What this segment is about allows Marvin to have an unfiltered rant about what he’s seen with the Crimson Tide. When I say chaos, it can be good chaos. It can be bad chaos. Either way, we’re about to find out and we’re about to talk about the Tennessee game. So Marvin, you lead the way and then the rest of us will join you.

Unknown Speaker
Today, I don’t

Marvin Constant
really have a ring. Something happened in that game that just touched me in a way that brought back a lot of memories to me and it really hurt my heart more than anything else. You know, seeing Jalen get hurt on the first level game. You know, I got hurt on the last play of the game. You know, when just Seeing that happened to him, you know, having the year that he’s having and being such a dynamic player, when I say that just ripped my heart out man seeing that, and seeing him getting into the ambulance. I mean, it brought back so many memories and so much pain to me. And all I could do is think about him, and how he was feeling mentally at that time, because again, nobody would nothing will ever prepare you in life for the moment you get injured, and you lose a season, or potentially a career. There’s nothing that has ever happened in life that is going to prepare you for that. So for me, the biggest thing is, you know, I pray for him. And I hope that he’s in good spirits as best as he can be given the situation. And I wish him and his family nothing but the best love and support. And you know, if you ever need to talk or you need anything, man, I’m here because again, when that type of injury happens, I can promise you out is that is one of the loneliest feelings in the world. Nobody will ever relate to you. Nobody will ever understand your pain. Nobody will ever say Hey, man, I know what this feels like. Because even though I got injured, his pains gonna be different from mine. But I know he has a lot of so because I know what he was thinking about that next year moving forward. So again, I don’t have chaos today. I got sympathy Omaha, I’m sorry. Yeah.

Justin Riley
No need to apologize a man. I think we all just got the wind just kicked out of us at that point. I mean, it’s just you hate for the young guy. I mean, just like you said, an amazing season I had. I mean, quite frankly, I mean, we’re looking at possibly highs and Thai performance, you know, at least a finalist. A guy who is about to break every record there was receiving was Alabama, I mean, he was already closing in and some on some records. And now, he had a lead on Fortunately, I mean, it hurts. And it takes away from what this game was, was supposed to be about. We’re supposed to be able to enjoy a beat down against our rival Tennessee, have our cigars afterwards. But just take something out of it. Well,

Marvin Constant
I didn’t have a cigar. I was not happy about that, because my heart was truly hurt for him. So I couldn’t really find a lot of joy in this victory. Because again, I know the pain that he’s going through, and most people will never understand that pain. But unfortunately, I do. And it’s not a good thing.

Steve Brown
And you know what the thing is, man, you know, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s like, you’re looking forward to watching the game and enjoying yourself. And it happens on the very first play of the game you like, man, and then you know it. For people who’ve played football or whatever. any athlete when you see an injury like that, even though it wasn’t as graphic as the Kenyan Drake, you know, injury. But when you saw the Slow Mo, you can see how his foot turned and all that. It’s like, oh, man, anytime you see something like that, we automatically know. Yeah, he’s done. No, I’m saying, but you know, by the grace of God, hopefully he can return but I just don’t see it. But, you know, it’s just a shame that it had to happen. Somebody It is a shame that happened, anybody, but somebody like him who was having like, a career season? You don’t I mean,

Marvin Constant
I will say this, I talked to the doctor today because, you know, we have the same doctor. And, you know, I had to thank him for the work that he did on me. And that was the last thing that I said to him when I got off with him was you know, thank you for the work that you do. Because the doctor that album had before you was a straight jackass, excuse my language. And he left a lot of us jacked up.

Steve Brown
You know what? You like? I don’t believe this. I know the doctor was he did. He did my ankle surgery and kind of

Marvin Constant
promise to hurt like hell.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah.

Marvin Constant
But, but, but honestly, I’m pretty I’m 1,000% confident they will be fine. Because of the doctors because Dr. Kane and Dr. Andrews they’re gonna take good care of him. So he’s got the best in the world right there at his disposal. So So I’m now had he had that other doctor out of Pride Month pretty much told me he won’t start thinking about another career. But luckily, he has an amazing doctor who’s gonna make sure he’s good. So

Steve Brown
yeah, I get that last doctor was awful. I think he left in paying top of my ankle. I don’t know how he did it. But he loved inkpad top and I don’t know who the hell got in a normal operation operation. But

Marvin Constant
yeah, but you know what? You say that to be funny, but I’m gonna tell you real life.

Unknown Speaker
This actually happened.

Marvin Constant
Y’all know Dr. Baron. Oh, Dr. Burnett was our high school team doctor essential, right? Yeah. I knew something wasn’t right with my knee. So luckily, I was still very close with Dr. Burnham. So I called him and I said, Hey, man, they tried to get me to go back to this guy. I don’t want him touching me again because I can barely walk. And I said something me right. So I said, well, you just sculpt my knee and tell me what’s wrong. So he Scope my knee before while I’m in recovery before I wake up, he’s already called Dr. Andrew K. Like y’all need to see this kid immediately. Because come to find out my ACL is halfway attached. My medium meniscus where it was torn hadn’t even been touched. My tickler clause was torn wouldn’t even touch. Nothing was done, right.

Steve Brown
He Wait, yeah, man, he he left my VCR running. So. Yeah, yeah. You don’t have somebody to have a bad story. There’s always that one guy that has to try to add to the store to make your store even more dramatic. Yeah, my VCR running and the tape was tangled. So yeah,

Marvin Constant
but but but you know, it had to be pretty bad for Dr. Barron to personally call Dr. Andrews while I’m still in recovery fighting wake up. He’s already called him.

Steve Brown
Yeah. That’s that’s bad. Because you know, Dr. Baron. Oh, he blocked?

Unknown Speaker
I leave me alone. Don’t do that.

Unknown Speaker
We do good work. You do good work. Yeah. He

Marvin Constant
got set up with them, man. And they took great care of me. So I kid you not, I could barely walk before I went to the gym after I went to them when I worked out for. for Minnesota, I ran for six to two days to go from being able to barely walk to it. And for six and 16 months, man, come on.

Unknown Speaker
Yes, sir.

Justin Riley
So what was the next step for him? How does it begin to recover from this, not just physically, but mentally, you know, the mental aspect, I think is probably one of the hardest aspects to overcome when returning from an injury. So as you all have had experienced, you know, playing, what do you feel like his next move is to get back to being Jalen,

Marvin Constant
I’m gonna let Steve start this off, because I want to hit his house.

Steve Brown
Um, you know what, I think pretty much he’s going to have to be patient, and it’s gonna take a lot of prayer, he’s gonna have to be patient, and trust his process, you know, and, and trust the doctors, and, um, and go from there, because you got to understand something, him being young and being able to move and maneuver like he did, he’s going to want that back automatically. He’s gonna want that, like, right now, you know, I’m saying, and he’s gonna, he’s gonna take probably some counseling and all that, to make him really sit down and realize that he has to wait and let nature take its course, for him to heal. That’s what I think, you know, I’m saying, so

Unknown Speaker
that’s how I feel about

Justin Riley
oh, my gosh, I don’t do what do you think that he needs to do as far as getting back on track and getting back to being Jalen, and like I said, overcoming this mental aspect.

Unknown Speaker
That’s it, it’s the mind that is that, that mental toughness is where’s gonna kick in right here, like he just said, being patient, you know, and keeping his eyes on the prize and pushing through, going through the process and not rushing it, and I get it, but he’s a tough guy, you know, he’s a tough kid, and you don’t have a great support system. You know, that’s the thing, he’s not the first to experience something like this. So I’m sure at that particular school, he’s gonna have a support system, not just physically but psychologically, right? oriented, keep him, you know, on track to getting back where he needs to be

Marvin Constant
touched on some amazing points, you know, psychologically, the whole mental aspect of the one thing that he probably not gonna have to worry about, like, for me, the mental aspect wasn’t the issue. The issue was my body wasn’t responding, because it wasn’t fixed. So literally, I wanted to do it, but physically, I couldn’t do it. So, you know, for him, having that patience to let the to align is going to be very important. But more than likely, I’m pretty, I’m positive, he won’t have the issue of his body not responding. As long as the body responds. Mentally, you can take your time and adjust to it as you move along. But you know, if you’re three, four months out, and your body’s still not doing what you want to do, that’s when the mental really starts to drag on you. That’s what it looks me, is like I’m watching everybody else make progress around me. But I’m still sitting here while I was from day one. My body wasn’t fair, so I could never make progress.

Steve Brown
You know what, you know what, though? Honestly, it kind of sounds far fetched. If I would try to, I would discourage him, discourage him from being on social media too. Because, you know, you don’t want that fan pressure, man, we need you back. And you know, he’s a young kid, like all men, they need to get back out there. He tries to rush the process and hurt himself again, that can’t happen. So I

Marvin Constant
know what I would do if I was him. Take my time and declare for that draft, because this whole situation has been so crazy this year anyway. So what’s the worst that could happen?

Unknown Speaker
I would

Justin Riley
Yeah, that’s true. And then he bring up another good point, you know, on social media, all the chatter is gonna start talking about his dress. That is what she did. should he do? Is this going to affect his draft status and he’s gonna have all types of things swirling around his head. So I completely agree with removing himself from that. But you

Steve Brown
know what, I’m gonna tell you something, based on what people have seen him done. Personally, I don’t think it should affect this draft that I just don’t see it. I don’t see it at all. That’s why

Marvin Constant
I say I would leave if I was him. I would just say I’m out.

Unknown Speaker
I’m on you. I need one more. Yes.

Steve Brown
I know I’m being a selfish man. But we we probably need your defense so we can get some tackling done.

Justin Riley
Don’t get too deep into sada hit one more thing in regards to Jalen and the rest of the season. Of course, David Pollock from ESPN, which I can’t stand him. It makes this statement right after it happens in regards to our national title hopes. He says I think it’s over for Bama. But what is your take on that? You know why?

Unknown Speaker
Because he went to Georgia. Right?

Steve Brown
All David Pollock is a hater. You know, he’s a Bama hater. He’s from Georgia. So he’s gonna say that, and then he steals store because we embarrass them on national TV, in front of everybody. So I can understand him saying that, but to me, I mean, yes, you will want a person like Jalen need a person like jailer. But you know, um, ameche stepped up and what’s the other guy’s name? I’m Les Bolden.

He stepped up, man. He did his thing. It’s like we didn’t skip a beat. I mean, he dropped the passer too. And you know the fumble, but you gotta say he’s not getting the rest that Jalen had, but he

Unknown Speaker
Oh, this man beat his kids. This man is beating his kids.

Justin Riley
No, I agree. Our offense seemingly just decided to go right to business. didn’t skip a beat whatsoever. Matt Jones was on point. Still dropping dimes is putting the ball where it needed to be. And everybody just decided, you know what, we’re gonna handle our business. There wasn’t any sulking there wasn’t any. Any kind of sorts. They just handle their business. And like you said, Steve, you know, john matchi just had a phenomenal day. And I think he’s a guy who’s gonna be a real difference maker and a star. And we still had to vontae Smith and now Slade’s in the mix too. So I like our chances. I mean, yeah.

Steve Brown
Slay. I’m sorry Slade is doing his thing. Man. Slade is doing his thing. He’s doing his thing. I mean, he’s not Jalen, but he’s doing his thing. He’s, he’s good enough just to make the offense run on all cylinders. And I don’t know what.

Marvin Constant
But you know, the one thing that I wish wouldn’t happen though. Slay is doing his thing, but I don’t like it when people start saying offensive be just fine without him slaves doing this slave doing that, because of that mental that’s gonna wear on JT because that’s going to affect him at some point. When people keep saying, oh, they’re fine without you. They do this without you. I’m telling y’all. Man. That is the loneliest feeling in the world when you got to watch your teammates playing hurt.

Unknown Speaker
Again, no mob and that’s probably the next man up

Unknown Speaker
your game. But

Marvin Constant
don’t discredit him so much to the point to where it’s almost like he’s completely pushed to the side or forgotten about I’m not talking about giusti. I’m talking about how people on the media have been acting like I don’t want to decide that he’s

Steve Brown
forgotten. But the thing is this, this is what I’m looking at. You can never replace a Jalen Walker. That’s just hands down. And I think he knows that and Coach Saban has said that, but understand Alabama’s offense is systematic. You plan if you lose somebody, you can replace somebody just as good or eat just just just an inkling of what that person was. And they can still Is he a Jalen water no but the system is is is not created around Jaylen wild is created to make people at those positions succeed. And wow was the best that is. So so so Slade, Bolden. He is he is not he’s not I can’t say he’s not good. He’s good. He’s not jailing. Wow. But he’s getting the job done. And that’s that that’s how the system is working. You know, I’m saying so far. I don’t think nobody could ever discredit. Jalen.

Marvin Constant
I’m talking about some of the news media people were saying that, oh, they’ll be fine without them. You know, they’re just plugged the next guy. He just wasn’t his great talent. He is the great.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, but,

Unknown Speaker
but I mean, you know, that is your kind of Trudeau Right, the game got to go on like this.

Marvin Constant
The game like this man wasn’t doing the work.

Unknown Speaker
I don’t think that’s two different things. It’s not about what he is not not that he’s injured is that the team and the system runs so well, that they have people in place because anybody can go down anytime the next man gotta step up, like a team focuses on the greatness of one guy, or two or three guys, and they fail to prepare their replacements that’s not building legacy. You know, I’m saying I,

Unknown Speaker
I’ll just say so I mean, no,

Unknown Speaker
but it is not the responsibility of the media to kind of prepare an injured person to get

Marvin Constant
me. You can’t tell me that Jalen is not one of those once every 100 year talents, though. Oh, man. Oh, no.

Unknown Speaker
I would never say that. I would just say that.

Unknown Speaker
Okay, replace that you can get some

Unknown Speaker
playing devil’s advocate.

Steve Brown
I’m gonna take, I’m gonna take what your problem is, right?

Unknown Speaker
Now hear this,

Steve Brown
I can tell you what your problem is, right now. You had an injury, and for the rest of the year, and what happened is, you saw this same thing, and you’re feeling the same way you think he probably feels in or how you feel when you when people are like, all bandwidth is gonna go on. And that’s just the football player and you and the mental aspect of getting hurt and feeling like and feeling like you were left. What you went, it was a huge hole in the defense when you went down. But I’m saying listen to the media. The thing is, the media got to you. And it’s up to Alabama and his friends around him not to let it get to him. So I feel you’re not because at the end of the day, you

Marvin Constant
know what it is? These are still kids and you still got to retain them.

Steve Brown
But you gotta understand the media and shit.

Unknown Speaker
Kidding, I think

Unknown Speaker
man cool

Unknown Speaker
man. What’s up see

Steve Brown
a man I’m still a fan man.

Unknown Speaker
Hey, I don’t know stop being

Steve Brown
a but yeah, man. As I was saying the media media, you got to understand something the media doesn’t even tell the truth anymore. Because communications manager is not with the media now is not about right or wrong is about who’s first and then they’ll go back and fix it. So they can say anything about Jalen water they can do or or how they come across or make him feel so they don’t care as long as they can read it. So then, you know, keep them out of the media and he’ll be fine. I’m honestly I’m a selfish fan. I hopefully, and prayerfully you’ll be back by the end of the season or by

Marvin Constant
our own. But you know what, when I talk about that feeling Kenny just got on kitty messes me up to play before I messed up my so we actually went to rehab together. So I know Kenny know what I’m talking about when I talk about that lonely feeling of being hurt a you lose that season and you got to watch everybody else play. But

Unknown Speaker
some of you only want to be around,

Unknown Speaker
man.

Marvin Constant
So yeah, we’re talking about Jalen how Jalen feels going through this injury right now.

Unknown Speaker
Is it’s hard to say.

Unknown Speaker
You know, I’m saying he does. He did. He got on the team to me, he can score the ball in his hand. So it’s a hard feeling. It’s hard for you to understand. Unless you right there in a square. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
This is clear.

Steve Brown
So So question, guys question. Is he out for the season? Or is there a chance he might return?

Marvin Constant
He’s out for the

Justin Riley
Yeah, that’s definitely out. I’ve seen some amazing things. Man,

Unknown Speaker
I know. We play in the opposite got body laying on his head on his ankle. You kind of know that, you know, saying that body on that spot is gonna be one or two things, you know.

Steve Brown
Amen. Man, I had two outs that past Saturday. I didn’t hear that he was out for the season because my cable went out. And I had to hear from somebody else. Hmm.

Unknown Speaker
I saw it on a field when he hit it. I saw it on the field when he took it over. haven’t hit the ground

Unknown Speaker
WELL I’M SO GLAD

Justin Riley
now Kenya asked these guys before you came on what they felt his next step was going to be and how he’s going to overcome the mental aspect you know speaking from your experience that that play we’re talking about where Marvin was hurt you were hurt I was there to stand I saw a hole

Steve Brown
deep hole deep.

Justin Riley
It looked like Saving Private Ryan out there. But No, but seriously, from your perspective, how how were you able to come back mentally and physically as well? And what kind of advice you give Jalen in his recovery process?

Unknown Speaker
What I

Unknown Speaker
heard in my junior year career flashed in front of me whether it is yeah Believe in yourself man and let the trainer’s do their job and and pray to the man of stairs and let everything else take care of itself you can go out there you know worried about the injury but you let us fight and if you want to be back on the field, and you got to do what it takes to get out there.

Steve Brown
So question do y’all think he’s coming back next year? Do I think he’s gonna go pro?

Unknown Speaker
I think he leaves

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, amen.

Justin Riley
He’s top 10 may possibly top five I seriously doubt he’ll be back.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah.

Justin Riley
Steve The good thing is he may be next year so you gotta find some kind of happiness in that he might

Unknown Speaker
be where he was.

Justin Riley
With the dolphins.

Unknown Speaker
I’m out.

Steve Brown
But you know what i’m, i’m i’m It’s a shame. I’m speaking on behalf of the fans. Um, um, it’s a shame that the fans and Alabama fans can’t see it this gas potential for the rest of the year went up. I mean, he made alabama football so much fun to watch. You know, I just now I just got to watch the offense. That’s it. I just watch out them to watch the offense. That’s it. Just done open just

Unknown Speaker
the office. Understandable right there.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, just the office.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, do not be looking for one sir. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I watched outfits that’s it. What about you?

Marvin Constant
If Kenny was watching him that good come down to fear Kenny would do whatever you want to do? We got a big call Candace was being a gap key now we see gap like Kenny you didn’t let him kill me, huh?

Unknown Speaker
And when when that ball is snapped, can you hear these big guys talk? So they talk about going to your gap and they flowing that way? I think I like my chances of shooting a gal and messing this you know,

Unknown Speaker
a yasi

Unknown Speaker
expose.

Steve Brown
Okay, so so Kenny and Marvin sees y’all doing Oh, listen, y’all was doing what y’all want to do back in the day. Y’all was stopping people maybe the deepest place so just do what you want to do. Now

Unknown Speaker
did he had to screw up that place? If not, you don’t get cussed out going to Santa. Right.

Steve Brown
So that means a whole defense because not every Saturday pretty much every play

Justin Riley
before the play even before they think about putting the hand in the dirt they getting cussed out

Unknown Speaker
like in the coach

Unknown Speaker
because he know you won’t make that move.

Unknown Speaker
He got a crush you are just

Justin Riley
kidding. How much does it bother you watching that defensive front now not being able to get pressure get out physicals and not getting any sacks because that just didn’t happen? You see when you and Marvin play people were scared to come in the trenches now. Not so much.

Unknown Speaker
A young man you know Yeah, yeah. Man. Saying that young bro. I don’t know what else to say about him. You know?

Unknown Speaker
When they play college football,

Unknown Speaker
they all played last year all

Unknown Speaker
young

Unknown Speaker
everybody Yeah, right.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, good, man.

Steve Brown
No. Amen. I’m gonna say it y’all see, I know y’all don’t want to say y’all to be politically correct. It starts from the top. Now number one, they ain’t physical. Are they getting pushed around and not getting penetration and they are now when they do get in a position to make the tackle. They missed the damn tackle Come on man that’s called Let me see if they had the Tennessee quarterback but this this is the this is the part that made me kick off all my clothes and run downtown and back

Justin Riley
whenever you see on Instagram, you

Unknown Speaker
might you might

Steve Brown
Jared woman Tom or whatever his name is. Yeah, like 10 yards and he ran through at least seven players. Come on man that’s not alabama football. But that made me lose my damn ambra

Unknown Speaker
ran through all these guys and he is slow is crap and got a first name. Come on, man. Come on it. It did get worse.

Unknown Speaker
This year was a kind of a it was kind of Bane for everybody. So you really get the time that you really get in all seasons to get yourself mentally prepared in college just to go be a doctor because she had the reps that you normally get in practice. But you know

Steve Brown
what, you know what? You know what I agree but I disagree because I’m gonna tell you something. Watch how Georgia was played us. They we beat them. But they were heated. They would get the ball. us us man we do. I’m gonna tell you some This is what I see. And maybe you see it to Kenny you can have you noticed that I did was the players are not hitting they are reaching to try to strip the ball and say and then when they make contact the ball carrier always gets at least three or four yards after the contact. Why? Because they’re trying to strip the ball to

Marvin Constant
center up you know you know what they need to start doing to know hey, look, a Alvey can attest to this album. Yeah, you met when he was in high school cuz buzz used to have was doing this drill called power blocking. No offensive line. No defensive line. Right.

Unknown Speaker
Right.

Marvin Constant
The running backs lined up at normal depth. The linebackers lined up at normal depth are they doing snapping the ball when then between us but an opportunity we Full speed ahead down here? is a U turn by separating the men from the boys. I think

Unknown Speaker
mostly

Justin Riley
No. I agree with that. He gotta be the man.

Unknown Speaker
You know, I mean,

Steve Brown
a man I’m saying something I really believe Mosley is concentrating on not not to get hurt, right because I used to watch. He was a ham on. Nah, man. He missed

Unknown Speaker
me. Because people move out there. You gotta go.

Justin Riley
Right? All right, real quick, guys. At this point in our show, we start taking callers. Matter of fact, we got somebody on the line right now. So I’m gonna let them in real quick and see is

Steve Brown
my mama don’t do it.

Unknown Speaker
You know,

Justin Riley
you’re on a constant and rally show. Welcome in. Tell us who you are and where you’re calling from.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, hello, this is my name is Mike and I’m calling from Syracuse, New York. Oh, wow. All the way up from New

Unknown Speaker
York.

Unknown Speaker
Hey, man. Y’all beat Clemson this weekend?

Unknown Speaker
Oh, no, you can joke about Syracuse as much as you want. I went to Alabama. I don’t care about no LSU. Orange.

Justin Riley
That’s what I like to hear

Unknown Speaker
that garbage program as far as I’m concerned.

Unknown Speaker
What questions do you have for any of these gentlemen right here. We have some good ones here with us for quite two questions for anybody that wants to answer before. Before we got to the questions. I just wanted to say love the show. Found it on Facebook. You bring in some awesome guests. And I just love the banter back and forth. So I appreciate it. Keep it up.

Unknown Speaker
Thank you. Appreciate it. Appreciate it.

Unknown Speaker
Absolutely. So first question. I’ll stick to an offensive question. Hopefully nobody has asked it so far. And I know it’s a big topic. Everyone’s been talking about print. I just got to hear it. So with the injury to Jaylen waddle, who do you expect on the wide receiver side? freshmen that I don’t know about to step up?

Steve Brown
can answer that. Yeah. I don’t know of any freshmen but again, Slade Bolden. That’s his name, right. He’s doing but from what I saw. He’s doing a phenomenal job. He’s not Jalen, but he’s the one who’s the 18.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yes.

Steve Brown
The white boy just

Unknown Speaker
got wheels on him. Yeah, I said

Unknown Speaker
well, we need we need some nice rolling his lady’s name.

Marvin Constant
Slade Bowden sound like oh Flintstones name.

Steve Brown
Yeah. So he got a record. Yes labels definitely doing a good job.

Justin Riley
Anybody else want to take that one?

Marvin Constant
I don’t like talking about offers.

Justin Riley
Okay, well I’ll answer that then we’ll go on to the next question he’s got I agree. Steve slay Bolden is that guy well john Mackey one is going to be the water saber one I think I feel like he’s gonna be that next dynamic guy. He’s going to take us to the next level but as far as while receivers three, definitely gonna be swayed. Love is all for him. Great hands. Like Kenny said. He’s got some quick to man. Don’t expect and all that.

Unknown Speaker
I need to see him. Oh, no.

Steve Brown
Oh, no. Justin, Justin, you be a racist.

Justin Riley
Quarterback, man. I’m saying I want a former quarterback to be that fast.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, no, you

Justin Riley
say I’m Irish, so I’m not gonna. Mike, what’s your second question?

Unknown Speaker
pre appreciate that first answer. guys appreciate it. So I again, I don’t know who responded but defense. It’s what that’s what I love to talk about too. So it’s exciting. So my question was, so this past week was the second time that we failed to record a sec in the game this year. The fact that we were not getting sacked, is that a problem? Or do you think we’re still finding enough pressure to keep up with you know, being able to get to that quarterback and create havoc so we can improve our defense?

Marvin Constant
Let me start this answer off and then I’ll let the rest of y’all jump on it’s definitely a problem when you can’t get Saxon you played the amount of man to man coverage that we play. No deep DB can cover for that long. You cannot give quarterbacks that much time to throw the ball. If we don’t get sacked. If we get into the season. I think it will become more rock solid.

Steve Brown
Alright, so so with me, I’m asked this question to Kenny Kenny. You played the line right here sir. Okay, so is it I’ve heard something I just want you to correct me on it or educate me on it isn’t a thing of hand placement or hip placement or whatever, depending because from what I’m from what I’m seeing with the D line then just kind of bumping and placing hands and we’re not really trying to get to the quarterback that just like okay, let me just Russell which you would name we don’t see what happened.

Unknown Speaker
Hey, Steve.

Marvin Constant
Steven facchini acid is dope. Kenny had different type of here we used to be the CC Kenny used to be in there doing a percolator

Unknown Speaker
was a choice back in the day.

Steve Brown
And Martin why he was talking he was looking back

Unknown Speaker
I think the defense you know I once again I said earlier the young and when you’re young you got your hands on the guy you’ll put both homeowners and when you do that he can have better time to grab you because you got both of your hands on now you put both your hands on your heels.

Unknown Speaker
So the hips me and swivel That’s what I meant no.

Unknown Speaker
Officer lamb is still made of them. They can’t do that what we need that small guy to get around some of these big guys and just call some back.

Marvin Constant
So basically we need to start blitzing more to compensate for lack of pressure. That’s what it boils down to

Steve Brown
insert answer your question. We just need a D coordinator. That’s it.

Unknown Speaker
Literally

Unknown Speaker
just bring it to them. We got

Justin Riley
that kind of resume. He got the brown.

Marvin Constant
We need him or anybody. Don’t be fancy anybody else right now.

Justin Riley
Oh, my question is though, Washington from the fiscal aspect. Oh, what’s up with a string coach is supposed to be the state of the art guy that we got from Indiana. I mean, I’m not seeing any kind of anything from it. And just

Marvin Constant
Yo, can I tell you some of the things I talked about in my book is don’t get caught up in the flashy, fancy new technology new bells and whistles working out in working out at the end of the day, either you strong and you got endurance, or you don’t. No matter what program you pull out the man’s with either you strong and you have Muslim endurance, or you don’t quit getting caught up in the flashy, fancy new. Ooh, let’s see what Yeah,

Steve Brown
yeah, yeah, I tried. I tried that, that fashion and flashy stuff before. I had kitties. I got Marvin’s book. I still got keys, but I’m just

Unknown Speaker
saying he started working the pole. Name.

Justin Riley
velvet thunder.

Unknown Speaker
Why?

Steve Brown
Our stripping out a strip of my stage name with little handles.

Marvin Constant
But I will tell you this though, and Alvin can attest to even in high school, we had a 400 pound Bench Press Club. We had a 600 pound squat book in high school. So again, you don’t have to have this fancy technology and get caught up all these bells and whistles to produce great athletes. We had them in high school. You know, we left a lot of us love High School stronger than the majority the guys who plan gets in college from them when we walk on campus.

Steve Brown
Absolutely. I will. I will sit in coach Cochran. He didn’t have all that stuff. He just hollered at you and you say lift, lift. That’s it. That’s it. And but now Bama is getting pushed around on the deepest front we all see that now.

Unknown Speaker
I like to add some today when I first saw that do cockrum if I could have had that mouth in the locker room. cuz sometimes you need that as an athlete because they do get hard. Yeah. Voice you know I’m saying not that he get no you’re not he’s just getting you to reach deep. Now it’s hard to replace it guys had some that gave him a little extra thought why that guy was diner. I actually saw that with my eyes. You kind of need that as a player. And it brings a lot to your team. You know, I’m saying

Unknown Speaker
it’s just height. Once you go out there, it’s time to

Unknown Speaker
go Yeah, the right time. Well, your mom’s going to be ready to go.

Justin Riley
Absolutely. Mike, we appreciate the questions. Man. Thank you for giving us a call. I hope that we gave you a great answer. I think you got several great answers. So

Steve Brown
Mike, before you go, you didn’t call us collected you

Unknown Speaker
know, I I saw a number called in Okay.

Unknown Speaker
Shall we try it? We tried

Steve Brown
to call maybe we

Justin Riley
got a straight talk phone for this right

Unknown Speaker
Thanks, Mike. Roll Tide.

Justin Riley
A I got no man. I know you’re a little bit older than the modern was, you know, coming up with high school. What was the competition lie between you and him? In Central?

Unknown Speaker
It was no competition, bro.

Justin Riley
Oh, oh, that might that might just fill me up on that mic.

Unknown Speaker
Next question, Nick.

Justin Riley
Can you say that again? For the listeners in the back?

Unknown Speaker
Oh, competition.

Justin Riley
I’ll ask the same question. Next up Kenny and Marvin, what was your competition like? And can you point out anytime that Marvin left you hanging?

Unknown Speaker
Nah, I can’t say that I would say is once again

Unknown Speaker
I don’t know man.

Unknown Speaker
It’s hard to say when your mind going a lot of places out there you hear office alignment talking you know your linebackers got the call once you know the office Lamin just says some two plays ago said to me, you know the blah so I might say yeah, I’ll probably tell myself Yeah, I probably will get cussed out going to the sideline. And that was just the hard part for me just understand that having a grown man cussing at me. And I just made the play I just messed up in the backfield. So he’s it’s kind of nose behind me to don’t haze you know me. Yeah. Yeah. We had some soccer players, you know, who

Justin Riley
are afraid to hear from the most and when you get back to that sideline, which coach who’s afraid hear most, from the most? Yeah, that was gonna let you have it. She just didn’t want to hear it.

Unknown Speaker
Visa What year was

Unknown Speaker
that? Yeah, that is true.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that’s a great

Unknown Speaker
man. I don’t know, man. What’s his name? JOHN Johnson.

Marvin Constant
By Jackie she’ll

Unknown Speaker
miss you today. Yeah. Yeah, man. I don’t know what that guy would do, man. I don’t know he was they were landing in my face and

Steve Brown
so yeah, so yeah, yeah never got talked to or taken out my dentist friend Johnny. I’m just saying whatever his name is that Kate was named with Tony

Unknown Speaker
Jones I met him in the stairway when he first got there. He came down the stairs. He had the audacity What did he asked me who I was, man. I didn’t gay my motto for free for you man. You asked me who am I? Who the hell

Steve Brown
was he at Bama for like a week?

Justin Riley
I thought like i thought was like 20 minutes now that was my price. My bad

Steve Brown
thing about Mike price.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
My my

Unknown Speaker
wife took me to the strip club.

Justin Riley
He got that he got that top shelf drink. They were the university credit card. Oh.

Unknown Speaker
Chicken wings.

Marvin Constant
One time I went and met Kenny and he was playing for the saints right so I get up with him and saws grant him he said we got to go get something to eat glues at Legion field on Sunday. So we figured I could we got to get some money. We go to this chicken place right? There’s just three of us right? Why didn’t order 100 whole wings.

Unknown Speaker
Now fat man.

Marvin Constant
Yeah, or 100 people looking at us like Yeah, really? from you? 100 whole weeks? Mom?

Justin Riley
Mom, you gotta remember man. All those years. I can’t eat those wings at Burke Hall. He had to make up for it.

Marvin Constant
But Justin, three people 100 whole wings. Not me. I might be good for five maybe six.

Steve Brown
Sound like my kids.

Justin Riley
So Kenny yo you and Marvin turned down Florida and keep talking about what made you choose Alabama over Florida because I know Marvin used to be a closet Florida fan. And I know they pursued you pretty hard and at that time they were pretty good competing for titles. So what made you feel like Bama was home the citizens club All right, next question.

Unknown Speaker
I don’t know man. It went too well, I was kind of I was a mom was Barbara when I promised Alabama gonna take that last visit to them and I actually had coach DuBose in Florida say hey coach on the line but I promise I make that a division and my dad always told me to keep my word man so I had to keep my word you know me understand that. Plus it was Michael miles I had already told myself I want to play next to the guy Juco and Kane Alabama did this so they really they really got me

Unknown Speaker
to go to the citizens club.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah one time I think we’re Chris Yeah

Unknown Speaker
thank you went more than one time

Marvin Constant
he probably still got a mason Johnson any kids

Unknown Speaker
if I went through that state right. people watched Everybody move

Steve Brown
through requirements to go BAM you got to go to the silver club.

Unknown Speaker
That we went out hanging out doing too many barbecues.

Unknown Speaker
So we had to go somewhere.

Justin Riley
here Yeah. So how to how to football prepare you guys for the next stages of your careers Kenny I’ll start with you know how’s your time Alabama prepare you for the NFL and beyond just playing

Unknown Speaker
an SEC my answers are I feel like you know been a part of the sec I think you’re an NFL right dude. Cleaning is big guys fast guys. smart guys. So you four years of what the next phase would be you know,

Unknown Speaker
right.

Justin Riley
Well, what about you? How that prepare you for the next chapter in your life?

Marvin Constant
I want to hear this because I want to know how five translates to music cuz I played football damn good. I still can’t hit a note. So help me out right now.

Unknown Speaker
I played Alabama in my heart, but I had physically played at Sanford University, you know what I’m saying? So go Bulldogs. But it’s, it’s the discipline and it’s the process, the discipline, you know, it helps me as an entrepreneur because like, I run my own business. And you know, what I learned about teamwork, like putting the band together, I really run it like a football team, you know, and one of the things I said earlier, you’re talking about next man up, like, I’ve had to run my bands the same way, always keep first second, third string, and I call him that, like, string keyboard is right. So I know my man go down or something happens, I got the next man up, the band got to go on. So just being a part of, you know, playing football, and understanding team structure. Having a playbook running a system that wins, um, helps me, you know, manage my bands helps me manage my own musical career, just from the discipline, the end the process, just having a process to run your business and stand at it. You know, what I mean? You know, being an artist singing, you know, of course, going from tackling people that tenacity, you know, bringing that to the music game, because it’s a rough business. You know, I mean, and you have to stay at it, you know, and I’ve been at it 20 years since college. So I’m, you know, excited about, you know, just being hit at night and just looking at you guys who actually had a chance to play for Bama. I just lived in the city, you

Steve Brown
Justin. Justin. A what Abbott is saying is he literally beats on his band members. That’s what he’s telling

Justin Riley
you, Joe Jackson.

Unknown Speaker
asked.

Steve Brown
Hey, have you at the next show? interview his trombone player?

Unknown Speaker
Oh,

Unknown Speaker
that’s it.

Marvin Constant
I have a question for you. Yeah. Yeah. Who was the who was the favorite artists that you’ve ever worked with? What like what was that defining moment? Like for you with that artist?

Unknown Speaker
I’ll say r&b artist Joe.

Unknown Speaker
Joe. Okay, Joe, man. Um, yeah, just like that’s one of those artists where you working on your demos and everything you like, man? I bet you my song was sound really good if he was singing it, right. And so around 2012 was I was first able to work with him and get a song on the radio song called I rather have a love that kind of went top five on the charts. So that was that was sort of my as a songwriter. For me. That was the big deal because it was somebody who I imagined myself writing for or imagined singing my music. So as a songwriter, man, that’s always that one thing you want to happen is your one of your favorite artists to sing your song.

Unknown Speaker
What? Question? I got a question. Oh, wow. Was Ruben sorry. In 2004 What did he do?

Unknown Speaker
Was he was he just

Unknown Speaker
sorry, in 2004?

Marvin Constant
See, I’m trying to talk me about working with killing rolls, man. What was that? Like?

Unknown Speaker
I didn’t really get a chance to work with her on you know, in, you know, in person. I wish I would have had a chance. Most of the work I’ve

Unknown Speaker
done probably wouldn’t get much done but

Justin Riley
you probably should commit or not to take the acting job and Freddy vs. Jason man. Oh, man, come on, man. I want to Jason go ahead and enter in that movie, but you know. Great, great singer. Alvin, I gotta ask you something, though. You know, your career music came rather unexpectedly. As a matter of fact, it wasn’t the route you initially had in mind. You know, one day you make music with Ruben Studdard on the side. Next thing you know, he wins American Idol. And you’re on the road with him. Can you go through that process of how your career just jumped off and how it progressed from there?

Steve Brown
Even a Chinese thing?

Unknown Speaker
Well, uh, Oh.

Unknown Speaker
Well, I will I will say, you know, I always tell my side of the story, you know what I mean? No, no, no. Because I left my job first, right. You know, in 2002. I left corporate America to start The band The music of it, the business of it, and proven Follow me. Right. And it was because of me stepping out on faith and doing my thing. And he’ll come in with me that he was in a position to even try out for that. And so that’s a lot of when I I played a role in that. Right. And and I think when we relate to football, oftentimes, the support players really don’t get this enough. Right, right. Position the guys to be starting to be the star, right? The offensive lineman, the D lineman, the guys that put the lbs in the position to make the big hit, you know what I mean?

Unknown Speaker
But we understand,

Unknown Speaker
right, right. But I was I was that guy, you know, I was that guy that was the support player that in my, in my opinion, I don’t think that would have ever happened. Had I not been in the position I was in to, to kind of make ways for him to be where he needed to be. And so that’s, that’s the part that I tell to encourage people like you never know, like, even if when you’re not the one in the lights, do your job, right.

Unknown Speaker
Hit your gap. You feel it. I’m saying,

Unknown Speaker
so do your work again. Ah,

Unknown Speaker
not as much. I’m kind of doing my own thing. You know, I’m gonna stop myself. So you know, I ain’t got time to

Unknown Speaker
be happy.

Unknown Speaker
But I had to work to get here. You know, I’m saying it was a process for me. You know what I mean? I had to play that role of being the musician, the musical director, the producer, the writer to become the artist and having my own platform. So I

Steve Brown
know that no sound like no sound like you kind of start to sound like you start running and doing your thing.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah, yeah. And, um, but that’s what I try to tell people especially. Because that’s two different stories. You know, what I mean? is one, going from zero to hero, going from zero to hero over time, you know what I mean? And having a process and ballplayers know that you might be a freshman coming out of high school, feeling like oh, I’m the best in the world. And then you step up against these college boys and you start all the way over. And you gotta

Steve Brown
get what you’re saying. But my question is, I see what you go with this, but why do you have to wear your shirt with your arms? Now? I know it’s football night. You just want to show people your arms. I know what you’re doing.

Unknown Speaker
I’m trying to recruit. I’m trying to keep up with Marvin. I’m trying to keep

Unknown Speaker
a man and look.

Unknown Speaker
Bringing it all

Steve Brown
yourself down daily. We’ll all

Unknown Speaker
start reading your

Unknown Speaker
stuff down baby with baby.

Justin Riley
See, I gotta be honest, man. I didn’t make it that far. When I opened it though. Chapter Two. All of a sudden I heard Keith Sweat start playing from nowhere to close the book. Again,

Unknown Speaker
my mom and background music.

Justin Riley
Steve, I want to know your story. You know, we really didn’t talk about it last time your own. Can you take us through your journey and your rise to fame?

Steve Brown
Man actually, man I I’m a student of the game played a little football coach or whatever, tried to walk on it Troy and got my ankle turned all the way around. And I just like that was it that was it for me. I left it alone, but I was coming football was my first look. I’m gonna let people know that. So I decided to just leave it alone. And I went on to Stillman college. And, um, I was always just a guy that just love laughing having a good time, or Rickey smiley, he came to the school and he was doing his thing. And I was hosting. And I didn’t know what I was doing. He was like, Man, you want to start doing comedy? And so from there and I just started going on the road with them. You know, I was the new guy so I don’t have to, you know, take them all over the nation not getting paid, just getting the exposure, you know, I’m saying and snowball. And now, you know, I’m stealing shit.

Yeah, man, but actually, man, if I’m going back to a weather album, see Amir takes a lot of discipline, man, because people don’t realize people don’t realize man is politics and everything. And the fun part about our business as professional entertainers is actually being on stage. off stage. You might see a fight you might see all that occasionally because the business is so cutthroat and it’s just like anything else, a lot of political stuff and you just got it you Gotta sustain it and stay grounded and stay disciplined. And that’s why I’ve been able to, you know, do what I do for over 25 years, you know, for 25 years, but hold on.

Marvin Constant
I got a question though. When you were talking about fights, whatever happened to the dude who attacked you with the mic stand? Man.

Justin Riley
I want to ask that I know if I could. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
He’s back in prison.

Steve Brown
Yeah, look what happened was people People need to know this story. Okay, now mob boss a little bit. I do all that you try to stay in shape, you know? And actually, I was on stage. Nobody was heckling the guy. He wouldn’t hit on me. He was laughing his ass off. Okay, so next thing, you know, he jumps up and just start looking in his face. And I asked him, Do you okay? And his girl put her hand on his shoulder. And he’s softer. And everybody just started fighting. People thought he was literally at me, but he was attacking everybody. So my thing is, you know, when he got on stage, I’m like, okay, I don’t want to hit this dude, because I don’t want to get sued or whatever, this man. But you know, I trained for boxing a little bit. And that was kind of you stopped me. I was getting away from it. But what happened was when he threw that mic stand on that barstool. I didn’t train for that part. I didn’t train. And it got me But yeah, man, he he was out man on Oh, I think parole. He had just got released from prison three days before he went to the club. And he was high. And he was severely I think by polling had mental issues. And yeah, he was so so they just locked them back up, man. And actually, I talked to the guy every once in a while man and no sometimes you want to find out a person’s story and find out why they did what they did. But I we’ve been in the contact man and you know, he actually he’s a pretty good dude. You know me I know he good right now because he can’t get to me. But you know, you don’t

Marvin Constant
invite him to your next show when he get out.

Steve Brown
Actually, I promised him that I want to help from him and his family when they get out of jail. He gets out probably like another six to eight years and then I’m able to stick with that promise because you never know what people are going through man again he was he was mentally challenged man said he just lost his daughter he had been drinking and then he’s severely bipolar. So you know, he just some something in there making snap. But of course me being a comedian, you would think that no, when you hear the story, and I asked he was on and he got mad. That wasn’t even the case. But you know, sometimes you gotta let people think what they want to think you know? Yeah.

Justin Riley
I hear you. Okay, speaking on the same lines. Can each of you talk about who served as mentors to you throughout your career? And you know, how you’re paying it forward now?

Unknown Speaker
who served as mentors for me? Yeah.

Steve Brown
Oh, here we go. The question.

Unknown Speaker
I don’t know. What the cause was of people watching. I actually had the ability to get dropped out of high school baseball, but I want to stay close to mom. So that’s why I went to Bama alone. We want to play besides Mike Myers, but I just want to be in a candy jar. I want to be at the top at the bottom. I just want to be in it to experience a life you know, I mean, and, and let everything else come from it. You know, I mean, I didn’t ask for anything I asked for all the attention I asked for all the money. I just wanted to be humble in and thankful through it. You know, I’m saying it don’t come with a number. You know, don’t come with a number because I just want to be to help people throughout my life. You know, I mean, so there’s a big hearted guy, man, I’m getting exactly what I asked for as a young man, you know me, I tell the kids to play all the sports because never know what the Lord will bless you with if you can play all three mile football baseball class, sorry, 12. If you start going into the next stage He wants you to be on so even though I love baseball, I suck with football. And I really tried to get away from football when I was in my third year, but I got her and that was a year I suppose he was gonna let me play with the team. But I was too far into my football dream then, you know,

Unknown Speaker
my, my,

Unknown Speaker
my mentor, and I was just thankful just to have a lot of people looking at me ever said that I was doing some positive man. That was my drive. No, no,

Steve Brown
I think I think for me, my mentor had to be a coach Kevin Cruz. I don’t know if y’all know heard of him. But yeah, he was always a mentor for me. That’s when I was trying to do the football thing essential. He was more than a coach. He was a he’s really good man. Really good man, whole family. So I think him it’d be timeless. And I mean, just a lot of people came into my life from the Tuscaloosa community man who didn’t even want recognition. They were just really family oriented and they helped me keep keep my head on it helped me stay grounded. And of course My grandfather, the late elder Frank neck Mother, you know, those people who really paid a very, very special, you know, point in my life they really weren’t. They were great my life.

Unknown Speaker
For me, my dad, Alvin Garrett, number one, he’s a pastor coal miner. Just a great husband, man, you know what I mean? And an encouraging man. He was a bodybuilder, actually, before I, you know, kind of came into the world, he was a professional bodybuilder, you

Unknown Speaker
know, he didn’t need that one.

Unknown Speaker
But my dad was the first one who, you know, who started teaching me discipline got me into karate, before football, put me in the gym at a young age. But mostly he built me up, you know what I’m saying? and made me believe that I could do anything that I put my mind to, and taught me about faith and dreaming. And he was always there pushing me. And still to this day, you know, one of my biggest fans with my music, so I gotta say that my dad has been and I he’s still my pastor as well. So that one person has been consistent all my life as my mentor. So I always have to shout out Pop’s ag number one.

Unknown Speaker
You mentioned

Unknown Speaker
somewhere in the family. So

Unknown Speaker
my question is, does this be a good time for you?

Unknown Speaker
Absolutely, man. Oh, yeah.

Marvin Constant
Y’all know what I’m gonna tell y’all some real I’ve been knowing Alvin his family for almost 30 years. Every time I seen his mom out more than likely I will see his dad, when you say a family unit, and being supportive, because me and his younger brother, God, say we actually graduated high school together. So we play literally together. So I would always see them at our games from the earliest of age, from literally to middle school to high school. And again, every time I seen Mom, I more than likely I always see that man. So you talking about a family unit? I mean, if I can say a family that look like the huxtables you know, I would give it to my mom and dad. No, really. I’m being serious, man. Yeah, you never very rarely did you see one without the other.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And they just made 45 years. This past on the 25th. So

Unknown Speaker
family Hey,

Steve Brown
Marvin, Marvin King, can you use another analogy?

Unknown Speaker
But he but

Marvin Constant
he understands what I’m saying. And you know, it was actually funny. Your album Did you see all those pitches that I put on Facebook that I actually found of your mom and your dad with your brother? We were high school?

Unknown Speaker
No, you just recently did that. That was back in March all over my

Marvin Constant
mom and dad on my Facebook with your brother. It was at least 10 pictures of your mom and dad on my Facebook mark. Yeah.

Steve Brown
I’m glad you keep saying dad because you sound like your mom. Okay

Unknown Speaker
scamming you mo scammy Hey, look, a album

Marvin Constant
of me you and Dante holding a six eight state championship trophy at our championship. Come on. Come on.

Unknown Speaker
Man, I can’t now remind me you were on Did you play offense when I was there? Or when you weren’t on defense when I play I played fullback when you was in school. All right. I thought so. I thought so. Yeah.

Justin Riley
I before we go to the next part of our show, and that’s predictions can each of you go around the room? And tell me Tell us about your greatest moments in each of your careers?

Marvin Constant
Please don’t ask deedat cuz I don’t even know the answer gonna sound like why

Justin Riley
are you kidding since uh, since Steve A while ago first greatest moment I cruise yeah like the like your your top moment your mom not just what we not just what we as the fan saw but to you What was your special moment?

Steve Brown
You don’t want to hear albums with professional entertainment you don’t want to

Marvin Constant
say don’t put him in that bus with you.

Unknown Speaker
Wasn’t it wasn’t me that night. At night.

Unknown Speaker
It’s fuzzy. It’s fuzzy

Unknown Speaker
yet especially mom for me man was always another one is just you know, I know that. You know I can hear my name calling my mom happy again, bro. That was That was it for me. Yeah. So from high school. You know, I didn’t want to look in the paper but here the phone rang knowing somebody was calling to send your son was in the paper. It was enough to see the smile on her face so the repayment of debt you know I’m saying that day your name and column and draft I was just yeah, you just want to you want to give it out to her you know saying your father to what’s your your father most of them man they want to sit back and watch a son do the right thing for his mother, the father just want to grasp all of it. You know, I mean, know that he was a starter. So just, you know, being from a small town and seeing my family happened. That was it for me, bro. That and that was it for me to enter the days you know, when I let it go professional roses, they was able to see me there was it?

Unknown Speaker
No,

Unknown Speaker
I’ll go next. I’m in 2015 I independently released a song called by myself. And I’ve never been signed by a record label. Everything I’ve ever done has been independent. And that record was a big challenge for me to just get on the radio and push. Fast forward to 2019 um, I was in Jackson, Mississippi. And after I performed the song there was this man ran through the stamp stands and he jumped the fence and said, I had this meet you. And he said, Man, you saved my life. You saved my life. And I’m like, okay, okay. He said, Man, I had the gun cocked. I was ready to in my life. And then your song came on the radio. You say my life. And in that moment, it was like, the weight of my whole career came down on me that everything mattered that much to get my song play it at that moment that actually literally saved a person’s life. Um, so for me, that moment sticks out as showing that you know, your heart work, really that what you do matters in the world. So for me, and I’ve had a lot of great moments, but that’s one that really really sticks out to

Steve Brown
pay. But Justin, but he’s next both song’s called rise below. Um I was

Justin Riley
hoping he was gonna clear up some of those teams.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
Shoot the club.

Steve Brown
Mine has mine is a me use the my gift to help others. Like, like Alvin. I was able to have my own Scholarship Fund. And right now I have seven scholarship funds. That’s what your seven at seven HBCUs. And to me, is just just that that’s just fascinating man. And my long term goal is to have the Steve brown scholarship and all the HBCUs in America. So man, I’m on my way with that. And it’s going away. Oh, man. And I think that’s one of the biggest things I’ve ever done, man as far as just giving back, man. I just that’s just that’s huge to me.

Unknown Speaker
Absolutely.

Unknown Speaker
Trip one time to a strip.

Unknown Speaker
Nursing Home nursing home.

Justin Riley
I heard about that, man. Your best performance yet?

Unknown Speaker
Yes.

Justin Riley
Man, I appreciate y’all sharing all the stories, man. Pretty awesome. Now the shift to predictions. So we’re gonna go around the room. Kenny, we’ll start with you. And then we’ll get to Steve and then Alvin and Marvin. And we’re gonna pick these games this weekend. All right, starting out with number seven Cincinnati versus Memphis

Unknown Speaker
Memphis.

Justin Riley
Oh, it upset. All right. The

Unknown Speaker
I am watching it.

Steve Brown
I’m going to Cincinnati.

Unknown Speaker
Okay.

Unknown Speaker
I’m gonna go I’m gonna go with this app. My key is show me called tiny decisions when you really don’t know who to pick. Just pop it in tiny decisions. it’ll pick it for you.

Unknown Speaker
was telling you

Unknown Speaker
Oh, it’s a Cincinnati. There we go. Okay.

Unknown Speaker
That’s a plug for sponsorship right there.

Marvin Constant
I’m gonna go with Memphis shout out to madol Keon urban former Memphis dB. Longtime Buffalo Bill. great friend of mine, man. He’s Memphis is hot. So I’m a Roku kid in Memphis.

Justin Riley
Oh, all right. Next up. Number six. Oklahoma State vs. Texas.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, say

Unknown Speaker
to me, I’m going with Oakland, Oklahoma State as well. Thanks. This is awful to hear. inconsistent.

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, me. I’m arrived with my two guys. I ain’t seen either one of them. I’m gonna go with Oklahoma State.

Marvin Constant
All right. Yeah. I’m gonna take Oklahoma State shout out to my daughter, one of our former high school teammates, Jay Jones. He was DB coach at Oklahoma State for a lot of years under Van Gundy did a lot of great work there. So the strength of Jay Jones who’s now Indiana who’s asking All right,

Unknown Speaker
finally, there’s our Jason Joe. My Jason. Oh,

Unknown Speaker
yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
96

Unknown Speaker
Yeah.

Justin Riley
All right, number three, Ohio State vs. Number 18. Penn State. I know this game lost a little bit because Penn State went down to Indiana last week. But either way, y’all got

Unknown Speaker
a good matchup.

Steve Brown
I got Ohio State because a game state doesn’t look the same. I understand that it was a long layoff but it just dawned on me so I got Ohio State.

Unknown Speaker
Ohio State push two

Marvin Constant
years ago with Ohio State as well. So hopefully they won’t start off as slow as they did last week because they cost me money. effort. Hey, so.

Steve Brown
But Ohio, Ohio State no play no matter for real. Y’all know that?

Unknown Speaker
Really? Nobody?

Justin Riley
I mean, you should call it the big one. That’s pretty much what this boils down to. Number nine, Wisconsin versus Rutgers,

Unknown Speaker
Wisconsin.

Steve Brown
I don’t know man. rockers looked pretty good last week. Um, you know what? I’m gonna I’m gonna throw it up in a rocker.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, wow. Okay.

Unknown Speaker
You see a spinner. Can you see it spinning tiny to see?

Unknown Speaker
Rutgers, Rutgers?

Justin Riley
Oh, the Scarlet Knights. We got to back to back, Marvin. Well,

Marvin Constant
I’m gonna take Wisconsin and say maybe just maybe they’ll pull it off.

Justin Riley
Alright, the looks like newly revamped Michigan and number 13 versus their rival Michigan State.

Steve Brown
A man of Michigan has been revamped every year okay, so it doesn’t matter who look I’m going

Unknown Speaker
Oh, bad girl. Let’s take let’s take a Michigan on this.

Marvin Constant
Me personally, I’m going to take Michigan State although Harbaugh might be calling you Alvin soon to shoot another music video with some because you know you say shoot music videos. I thought that’s what he’s more concerned about them when again so

Unknown Speaker
when it

Justin Riley
Alright, number five Georgia vs. Kentucky,

Unknown Speaker
Georgia.

Steve Brown
Um, even though Kentucky has a lot of tricks up their sleeves, I’m taking Georgia but I think the game’s gonna be closer to what we think.

Unknown Speaker
Okay, I’m happy that

Unknown Speaker
I just I just can’t deal with Mitch McConnell and anything at to Kentucky so I’m happy to go George.

Marvin Constant
Let me start by saying this Kentucky you go from beating Mississippi State 24 to two to that garbage output that you did last weekend. And you cost me money too. So I’m going with Georgia because everybody who I bet on last weekend cost me money. I lost a lot of money last weekend.

Justin Riley
That man last weekend you went on a rant about the busted LSU tigers and you even went so far as to imitate coach. Oh, and they weren’t so busted against the Gamecocks.

Marvin Constant
Well, we saw on a quarterback saw that we had a freshman and he came home. We might need Brandon on the bench for the rest of season because you know, I can’t get fired up. I just got the massive contracts and you want to play the freshman

Justin Riley
number eight, Texas a&m versus Arkansas.

Steve Brown
With that being a game that’s nobody gonna watch. I’m gonna just say Texas a&m. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker
Texas a&m found like a winning choice. Let’s

Marvin Constant
go You know what, I’m gonna pick Texas a&m. You know why? Because Arkansas really aggravated me two weeks ago when they play Ole Miss. How do you get this man through six interceptions Lane Kiffin and you don’t take him out again. This man through Arkansas. It cost me so much money. So

Steve Brown
Marvin, you’ve been losing so much. I’m surprised you ain’t love your shirt. Look

Unknown Speaker
on Instagram. Now, look.

Marvin Constant
I see I’ve been getting beat asleep the last two weeks man.

Justin Riley
Marvin, I got some consolation for you though. I don’t know if you know about this. But Lane Kiffin just got fined 25,000 by the SEC for a tweet. Wow Yeah,

Unknown Speaker
paid in pennies.

Unknown Speaker
Yep

Justin Riley
it is yeah he if y’all didn’t know about this he actually retweeted a tweet calling out the refs and apparently that’s against the rules in the sec. So he got fined to the tune of 25 k

Marvin Constant
Wow, he even though the SEC turned around and said he was correct though, because the ball did hit the player and it should have been reviewed. So how are you going to admit he’s correct but you still gonna find it?

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that ain’t right.

Unknown Speaker
Wow. Yeah.

Justin Riley
Well my question is why didn’t he challenged the play to begin with?

Marvin Constant
He was out of time mouse you know? Either game so he and then also wants this under what two minutes? It has to be a booth initiated review.

Justin Riley
That’s true. Night, The Game of the Week, at least for us number two, Alabama versus Mississippi State in Tuscaloosa on Halloween night.

Unknown Speaker
Now, we are ready now.

Steve Brown
Up Justin, can you can you please do me a favor? And like can we kind of like make this question a little bit more interesting. I’d like to just put a question up let’s do this. Instead of who’s gonna win how many sacks Do you think Alabama gonna get this guy

Justin Riley
that does make it a little bit more interesting. And you know, Marvin is the same man. So you see

Marvin Constant
my hand right? Zero.

Steve Brown
You know what you know what, though? Even though that now okay. They missed a mistake was to do the Airaid Am I correct airy Alabama chances. See, I think I’m predicting Okay, Alabama is gonna win. We know that but I’m predicting Alabama is gonna get at least four sacks.

Marvin Constant
antonette

Steve Brown
No, sacks of chips after the game

Justin Riley
is gonna be golden play. on the bus.

Hey, I just don’t want them to take out one more player in the game like they did. Last year. I got to be healthy. But you

Marvin Constant
know, but But in all seriousness, though, their offense might create problems for us plan as much man to man as we play and not being able to get pressure on a quarterback. You know, I’m just praying that it’s not a repeat of us versus Ole Miss. Because, again, if we can’t get pressured with the amount of man and man that we play, you’re going to put some safeties in some bad positions. And, you know, Malecon Moore. He’s playing amazing, you know, certeyn, he’s playing amazing. But when you start talking about those safeties playing man to man coverage on receivers, that’s a whole different set of problems, and we’re not getting pressure. It might be a long day.

Justin Riley
That’s what my question was going to be. I actually have been thinking about that. Marvin, do you guys feel like the mike Leach can actually drum up some plays they can give our defense namely our secondary problems is is that something that we should actually consider?

Steve Brown
You know, something though, imitation. Anybody can draw up plays against Bama right now. Why? Because we don’t have a password. Man. I’m so concerned about people like I mean, we got to take it one game at a time. But I’m so concerned about us playing people like Clemson and Ohio State and a half legit quarterback because we don’t get a pass rate and that’s going to kill us down the line. It’s gonna kill us down the line. See,

Marvin Constant
Steve, you know what’s gonna kill us the I’m willing to bet you good money. That Mike Leach reached out to Lane Kiffin and Lane has given him some game plan information on how to attack that defense. I’m willing to bet you that the state of Mississippi is gonna put everything they can put on their table to beat us.

Unknown Speaker
They don’t put

Steve Brown
Justin on the table. Justin, get in here.

Justin Riley
I am ready. I’m ready. All right, cool. Well, yep. Bama. I think it’s pretty much a done deal. So all right. Marvin, tell us how your book is doing and how we can get our hands on it. And does it come with that body? Oh, that Steve was talking about?

Unknown Speaker
I got my hands on it. But it keeps slipping out my hand out.

Justin Riley
Did you get the deluxe edition or is that just the normal one?

Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I got it. Good luck.

Unknown Speaker
Marking with a bottle of commodity

Unknown Speaker
What am

Unknown Speaker
I gonna do with ya?

Marvin Constant
To answer your question? The book is doing amazing man. We’re actually approaching over 500 copies. So which is amazing for six weeks, you know to move over 500 copies in six weeks. I mean, that is pretty phenomenal. That’s pretty solid. So you can get the book at 40 plus drones calm that’s the number four zero being the worst plus drone calm. You can follow me on my ID at constant 45 You can find me on Facebook Marvin constant, or on Twitter constant 451. But the best way is on my ID and again 40 plus

Justin Riley
Oh, yeah, definitely.

Marvin Constant
Um, next week I want to do I want to look at an offensive line feature, you know, right guards never get any love. They never get any attention. So we’re gonna bring on some of the big boys up front that paved the way especially with the way algorithms offensive line has been playing. done an amazing job, I definitely want to celebrate those guys and get a lot more in depth knowledge on what it takes to be a successful offensive line. Because offensive lineman you can be the greatest left tackle in the world but if you don’t have helped besides you it’s gonna expose you at some point. So you know that teamwork that unity How did you develop that bond that brotherhood as often supply? So we’re gonna dig into that often. Suleiman next week.
