Okay, so um, I thought the game was again Carson Wentz. hundred million dollars and you know we got Danny Jones beaten and I thought they played well. This was a game that I think they’re I feel they’re proving from the terrible team they were in when the beginning of the season

you can see that Joe judge has been saying that you know, he’s seeing improvement and they’re getting better and they’re getting better they’re getting better The only problem I have is they just don’t have the finisher on you know defense they don’t have that leap you know edge rusher you know to finish the game. They only have the one good corner Bradbury. So it’s a work in progress, but it’s a lot better than what has been the last two months.

We put my earpiece in you know, I was thinking about that. Well, you were saying about that pass rush the edge rusher. It was it. It made me notice it more this weekend. Like Like if they had that pass rusher the game would have been put away earlier.

Yes. Because no cost wins is a mess. Though he’s 130 $4 million quarterback and he’s awful. You know route here you don’t already even are already screaming for Jalen hertz. All right, you know, the Alabama kid put him in and put him in. But you know, I don’t know what the offensive line the way they’re playing that. Would it be any better if they put him back there?

Right. Right. Yeah, he cannot he you have to what do they call it? management. Playing management, I forgot player management, like a bat in basketball, right? The player management so they can get ready for the playoffs? Again, I’m pretty excited not because of anything. Obviously. There’s some really great teams in the league. And you know, the Giants had have to put a pull off a super miracle. But I think it’s if we can continue playing good football. That’s what I want to see. Right. I mean, obviously I want to win. But I hate when my team just plays that.

That division is so bad. Which is awful. That is going to be six games is going to win the division six and 10. You know,

I know we call it but but I’m just saying to you that I understand the division is bad. But if I say the vision wasn’t bad, I just don’t like my team playing bad if they lose because the team’s just better. It’s fine, that they were just playing terrible. So I’m happy they’re advancing. Obviously, you and I are giant fans. So, it would be nice to let them continue making a run and and this is good for I think sake one Barclay will be feel a lot better coming back right if they get him some, some help and they see at least he sees a quarterback developing without him. right because it seems, you know, take on Barclays a big loss.

Byron Jones
Yes, he is. But he figured now you know, when he comes back next year, hopefully he comes back you know, better than ever. Now. Teams are going to have to watch with Daniel Jones take off the ball as well. You’re gonna have say Quan back there and him. So you don’t know now when they run the read option, though, they don’t know if Dan is going to take it or if he’s going to give it off to say Quan, so it’s gonna be a great weapon for them next year.

Yeah, I think it’s good, you know, dishes. Daniel Jones second year, so you know, take some a little bit of off and look at it. So we’re going to go out to the next one but we’ll go to talk about that with some other rookie quarterbacks and you know how they’re performing. And the difference Alright, let’s talk about well, so we got Washington we got Dallas is up breaking. I think it’s Philly in the giants and then Damn, that damn ties killing me.

Because like we said before Adam gates keeps talking itself. Good job. He talked himself into this job. You figured the owner of the team woody Johnson is you know, being an ambassador in London or wherever he is. Running the team. So I’m pretty sure if he was there. They would have fired this guy by that because he is awful. Yep. Sam. Donald was a top five pick. And he’s regressed every year where you know he’s a train wreck. They’ll probably be able to get rid of him for a ham sandwich. They’ll when they grab Trevor Lawrence next year.

Yeah. And a horse Trevor. I don’t know if I’d wanted to go to the gym I don’t think gets put in good organization again. You know, it’s funny two years ago, the Jets defense was pretty good. Yeah. Right. And just hit this disintegrated. Well, you know, I always like bring it up the Jets, hopefully get enticed, or jet fans that are, I guess, a little nervous of making that phone call to us. The AFC East, right, something interesting, Josh Allen made a statement. That’s your statement he made? No, or like in he made a statement, but they did it. It is like, you know, one of the short pic pictures of different athletes talking and so forth. He said, when I step on the field, I want to embarrass you. Now, the reason why I’m bringing that up one that’s pretty bold and two, isn’t that like equivalent to you know, boardroom you know, board news right where they say don’t give him any reason to be pissed off.

He’s the number one quarterback you know, he’s the top ranked as far as you know, passing yardage and total yardage in the NFL. You know what? I’m gonna keep talking to you stop me.

He just got stop. Didn’t they lose this one? Yeah. I’m not sure I thought they lost.

Well, he’s a top ranked quarterback. He’s an MVP running. So is he the last or not? He is the guy. He could run his mouth. Oh, he wants to stop.

But I just But anyway, my whole point to that. I mean, he could do obviously. He’s playing very well. And I like Josh Allen. Mike. Just point being is you know how they always talk about you know, don’t give a deep a defensive reason to get upset. Right. When he says something like that, that. Oh, no, they want they beat the Patriots. 2421

He’s a real deal because he’s running pretty much the same kind of sort of what you’ve written in Oklahoma. And then where you know, the head coach. Kingsbury. Kingsbury came from Texas Tech. There’s pretty much the same kind of style offense. He’s ran his whole life so he’s used to it, but then it doesn’t help the fact is it is five foot six or whatever it is. And you know he’s behind his big line but you can’t see him You can’t see him

it’s funny is the which one is it though? right you got the Brady’s that paint Manny’s in a six foot five like that’s the prototypical quarterback can see over the lineman in throw and now you have a lot smaller quarterback right but now the defense can’t see him i mean is there is it just that the smaller and the bigger the bill guys the guy that gets hurt because then that wouldn’t be true about Brees? He’s only six foot How do you think he’s six foot he’s shorter than that?

You know he’s shorter. But you know you figure the office everyone know the RPO is perfect draft because he’s a great athlete. Murray.

That leads me to another thing with with with Murray though real quick, you know, since you brought them up, as we were talking about the bills, is, you know, they always say that a college offense is unless they’re running for office doesn’t work in the, in the NFL, look at all those Houston quarterbacks that back to back winning Heisman trophies, Andre, where I forgot who the next guy was, and they, you know, they couldn’t perform in the NFL,

because they ran up the running shoot office was big back then. That’s what they ran. And then, you know, they wrote me a rollout, last rollout to like, kind of sorta, almost as a RPO, to run pass option, almost, it’s almost the same offense will be one back back here. But most of the time, you know, they’re lined up, you know, under the side, when they ran the run a shoe. Now, you know, they’ve lined up, you know, three yards or four years or however far back they’re back to run, you’re gonna run it,

or you’re gonna pass it. I wonder if it was just that that time that those the coaches at that time didn’t adapt to the new type of athlete, right? Because, you know, we’re seeing a lot of different types of football, a lot of different offensive plays, you know, more to trick plays, and I’ve ever seen an NFL right that actually work. Right. So I’m just wondering that that those were those quarterbacks that were running those running shoots out or doing very well in college, when they got to the pro was it that just they were out of a system that, you know, wasn’t conducive like they’re saying about? What’s his little Sean Jackson, right or Cameron? And, yeah, Cam Messer.

Remember Jim Kelly, when before he came to NFL, he played the USFL. He played for the Houston Gamblers he ran down there, he threw over five $6,000 when he played he proved a lot of yards when he ran, they ran the runner chute offense there. And then when he got to Buffalo, he ran pretty much, you know, almost the K gun or whatever, they called it back then. And pretty much the same thing. And just put that much pressure on the defense, you know, their lineup, you line up your tongue is dragging on the ground, and you got a guy sitting there. And next, you know, they’re lined up getting to run and you can’t even get down to the stand next, you know, to get ready to run another fight. That’s tax.

it’s back to the AFC let’s go Hey, twoich third start. You know, my, my measurement of bad idea. A good idea is starting to look like a really good idea. Oh, yeah, he had a show tonight. Just again, I felt like you know, you took someone out but now you know, you know, proofs in the pudding. Right? It’s done pretty well. He’s taken a hit. Their defense though, is playing great and Flores which we’re going to talk about next. I like them from last year when they you know, they were getting players wanted to leave because they said they were tanking purpose. And, you know, Flores flirts came back strong city was tanking, you know what I mean? They weren’t gonna do that and those players started playing. So I like floor so what do you think about to

play very well the only problem I have with him was when when the turnover and the big linebacker was running down the field and then Tula decided he wanted to tackle the guy and he kind of sort of half tackled him the half fell on top of the guy and everybody’s like, you know worried about you know, if he was gonna fall apart because he is not a big guy.

That is stupid cuz he was hurt already now,

but he and now he’s on the I think he’s on I think you heard his foot. That’s what he was saying today when I was watching. He’s not out but he was getting treatment on his foot according to the injury report.

Well, that probably but you know, you don’t have to be that type of quarterback, some quarterbacks are not, but if you are already injured, I don’t think it was worth it for him. What he could do like Phillip rivers did when he had the turnover, he sort of laid on the ground.

And he flopped out on like, rivers is like six, four. He’s a big guy. He made no attempt to tackle the guy with the turtle, but he’s waiters after whatever it was. And he sort of fell down. And like way that like a turtle, the guy jumped over and kept going.

There’s a lot of superstar quarterbacks that I have that that I have seen just not even chase a guy.

know, yeah, you have more DRL offensive lineman, anybody, you know anybody that that, that it has a different colored jersey, it because we’re going after hit, they’re hitting us, but we’re only hitting the person with the ball. Now when it’s a interception, and or it’s a turn, or we get to hit everybody that has a different

it was. Well, I’m pretty happy with for farmers like to throw back that he did. I think he’s showing some poise. And he’s a really good kid. So I wish him I wish him nothing. But the best. But when he took it over, he had nothing but great comments. And I think dolphin fans need something they finally had a decent pick. You know, it’s a, again, Brian Flores. I think he’s doing a great job. So speaking of that, before we get in, I don’t want to get too deep into this.

So what do you think about? Like I said, The Bad idea? What do you think about the new rules for hiring coaches they implement? And I got some competent. Here’s the rule, right? It was NFL pass this week on diversity hiring, that would compensate teams at a higher minority as a head coach or general manager with two third round picks. A lot of League members are not pleased. What are your thoughts on that? So if you know, if you want to try what they’re saying they’re trying to do is develop minority coaches so they can get into the position, right, of being able to be a head coach, but there’s existing minority coaches now. So what are your thoughts?

Byron Jones
I think the whole Rooney Rule is a crock. You know, from the beginning. It starts at the top, they only have you know, there’s only two minority owners out of 32 teams, we got the guy Jacksonville Pakistani guy, and you have Kim Buffalo, there was only two. So you know, how are you going to make change when you don’t have your own or so to put it, they’ll look out for you, you know, at that level, that’s where it starts. And you know, what they’ve been doing is, you know, they bring the bringing minority coaches, and Are you okay, we bought them and then they’re gonna turn around and you’ll hire either a retread, or, you know, who they really wanted to pick anybody?

get well, I understand, you know, the challenges there. Right. And, but let me ask you a question. Let’s stick with what the rule is, right? The new rule. And so let’s think about this, though, cuz I have a couple examples of what would happen and I checked, you know, based on what they said, um, the new rule states that if you if a minority coach is is hired from your organization, right? The league is going to compensate you. Right? For with to third round picks. Okay, so they’re going to say, great job developing this head coach, whether he’s good or bad, right, because you could be good or bad at any color. Is that fair? Right. Hence, Adam gates. So. Okay. And so so here’s a couple examples they brought up and I thought they were very interesting. Brian Flores came I think I wrote it down the two t but Brian Flores came from they were questioned if he would even been hired from for Miami because I think he came from the Patriots. Right? So imagine, you know, you have a great minority coach, right? What team in your own conference is actually going to want to hire someone that may be a great coach, but I’m not giving the Patriots two third round picks. Like it’s gonna live, it is a limit, you know, right there, you got three additional teams are just not gonna hire minority coaches from within the conferences.

That really shouldn’t be a reason why, because they don’t know how this guy is going to be, you know, when he’s gonna be, nobody gets the top job, you really don’t know, you know, how he’s gonna have some coaches that were special team coaches and defensive coordinators or whatever they then before they got to the top spot, but you don’t know. Like, Joe judge, for example, you don’t know what kind of offense he’s gonna run, you’ll know what kind of defense you just don’t know, because it just is an unknown thing. Being a specialist.

Victor Arocho
It’s no different though, than training training a a good player or a great player within the conference, right? I mean, it’s the same thing. It’s just worse in this case, because now, I the way they were stating, and I think I kind of agree GRI and some of the league members like Tomlin and these guys didn’t like it. Right? Because, you know, why would you belcheck is there’s several coaches that are known to groom a lot of coaches. Right, and then if they grew these coaches, right, but, you know, I want them to be successful to get a job but from a business perspective, you know, am I gonna want to get give my Am I good? I guess maybe coaching has different agreements, but am I gonna really, you know, hire someone from an organization and that this my competitor and I, he gets two more picks.

Byron Jones
I don’t think they’re gonna be even worried about that. No, because they’re trying to hire, you know, guys to make them successful, you know, as well. And, you know, they’re coming from a great organization, you know, maybe some of that can rub off on them. You know, like with New England, you know, even though a lot of those couches that came from you know, under Bellatrix tree a lot of them have done awful a lot you got albro Cornell, you know saving went back to the, you know, to Alabama has done well, man Jeannie, what did he do? nothin? Daniels got fired his first job I can hold less Swartz fired his first

said Bill Parcells has got a good tree. He said Yeah. But and look it I’m not disagreeing with that they need to definitely need to do a better job as it relates to hiring marnay coaches. Right. And but they also needed I like it, they have to do a better job of developing minority coaches give them a shot. I’m always I’m talking all the way down from high school up. Right, you know, you know, good head coach, when I was coaching in high school. And we may not have done some well as as well, but I thought the coach just fundamentally was young and new, had some good things. You know, so the two years I was coaching other and we were required to take go to coaching clinics, we had to go to two coaching clinics. They weren’t doing that before. And I was learning Lido cover two from, you know, high level college coaches, right, they would come down and give us pointers and so forth. And then you want to move all the way up, but I just thought it was interesting, and I want to get your perspective on it. And again, and then I have one more like for example. Okay, uh, who’s the other one? Oh, Tomlin. Okay. Tomlin came from the Bucs. And he came from the end he was it came from the Bucs and then I think that it was during the Jon Gruden. When he was with the Bucs and then they the Vikings. So, you know, it may have been hard to hit because they competed. Right. So I’m just wondering if how things would have would have turned out I just think they just should have continued to figure out a better way. I don’t think that it’s almost like i don’t think i guess they’re trying to incentivize the teams. Right? I just think they should I just need to show based on the best coach, that’s all starts from the top. When you

when they start, you know, they’re given, you know, owner, they’re making all these millions of dollars, you know, with the TV things, all the stuff that they have, and it starts there, they’re the ones are the ultimate one that are gonna hire these guys. And until you know, they get in their mind that you know they’re gonna give this guy a shot, then no things are gonna change it up, do what they’ve been doing, you know, bringing minority guy in, or we bought one in, blah, blah, blah, whatever, and then go ahead and hire somebody else which has been happening.

Yeah, Eric, the enemy definitely has to get a coach.

But they’re the only two Yeah, two minority, opposite corners and nine, black minority defensive coordinator, and out of 32 teams,

you have five and what nine, you have nine

defensive coordinators, and two offensive coordinators in the whole of the NFL

Victor Arocho
32 teams. So that’s a third, right. I mean, visitor, I look at this third, I don’t I don’t see that as bad on the lead this predominant, but what I see is bad is over 11 coaches that are at that level, there’s no reason why the vacancies and head coaches and those several those guys don’t become head coaches.

They always give them an excuse, you know, you don’t have you know, you weren’t a coordinator long enough. You’re too old and why hasn’t like Leslie Frazier, you know, hadn’t gotten another job. Jim Caldwell, another guy that won in two different places in Detroit and Indianapolis, and he never got, you know, another shot for a job. Because he’s 61 years old. You know, that’s the excuse people use that, you know, he’s too old now.

What’s his name from Seahawks. He’s, um, he’s like 70, isn’t he or P

Byron Jones
kinda like 60 years old. And then Bill Belichick 60, but they’re already in those spots, these hot, you know, like, call all these guys, they’re trying to get to that spot. And they’re gonna try to use that, you know, they’re too old, you know, they want to they want a guy, you know, they have a young quarterback that, you know, that is going to be there five, six years, you don’t know if he’s 61 he’s gonna be there five, six years, that’s probably excuse, you know, that they’re using that behind these guys.

And, you know, the sad part is, is that like, their code, you know, there’s only a few teams that have like, consistent head coaches. You know, it’s not like it’s not like there’s you know, there’s always a merry go round. So, again, my my pieces, you know, obviously everybody wants percentages better, but I just couldn’t imagine that if you got nine. You get nine coaches in the defensive coordinator or offensive coordinator position. You got nine you said right or level nine. If you got nine out of 32 teams, there’s no way to to afford those guys shouldn’t be a head coach. But then you then the other thing I wrote down

I don’t think he’s an elite quarterback. And that to me was an issue when they gave him that money before they even they they did anything for Derrick Henry Derrick Henry is a franchise. As you can tell, I mean, the whole offense and their success rides on him. But there’s only so long you can ride a horse before he gets broken down. And if it comes down to Derrick Henry going out, I don’t have enough confidence that tannehill can win gangs alone.
