Byron Jones 2:02
Nice it Florida represent.
Victor Arocho 2:04
That’s right. I was gonna tell you Do you notice like I don’t have read it today? Why? Because I ended up finally buying glasses. Oh, you
Byron Jones 2:15
broke down? Wow.
Victor Arocho 2:19
Yeah, well, yeah, cuz I keep losing them. They’re expensive. I break them or whatever. So, you know, my eyes. Were getting all red because of the contacts. I was wearing daily contracts. Daily contacts, like weekly.
Unknown Speaker 2:33
So like a
Byron Jones 2:37
like a little kid put the rope around your neck.
Victor Arocho 2:42
That looks like a little kid or an old man.
Byron Jones 2:44
Oh,
Victor Arocho 2:47
exactly. So, um, how you doing? Man? You look all nice and cold. I like that sweatshirt. I like that hat too. That’s a really nice hat. coat. You’re looking pretty cold.
Byron Jones 3:01
is nice. It was 41 degrees. today. I did a walk about round my whole town or 2.3 miles. And everything was lovely.
Victor Arocho 3:09
Really? Oh, that’s good. We went to Greece. We’re all good. That’s the night. Okay, we’re probably 17 or something. But my daughter’s room is cold. So I feel pretty good. All righty. So let’s get right into this show. We got a lot of stuff to talk about. Obviously, we’re gonna go into and talking about the NFL playoffs and so forth. So again, we’re always going to be talking about the giants. If there’s any updates, you know, more than I do, because you’re up there in the newspaper. And you’re retired. What’s happened? Any any latest news? Anything up on the Giants? changes?
Byron Jones 3:49
No, not really that old. Odell and say Quan have gotten together to, you know, train together, you know, their little knee problems, and they’re going to be out in California, you know, doing their thing. You know, last week I told, you know, Andrew Thomas had, you know, surgery on his ankle, so maybe that was the reason why he saw, you know, most of the year maybe it was, it was a problem with his ankle. The old line coach, he they didn’t keep him. they parted ways. The guy D drove them or whatever guy’s name is the guy. The what? Not? Yeah, the hip consultant guy, they couldn’t come to terms with the contract. So he went on his way to
Victor Arocho 4:31
make sure I understand this. The original offensive line coach was let go, Colorado, the consultant, the consultant of the offensive line, coaches position, right and now they didn’t come to terms.
Byron Jones 4:43
No. So they parted ways and sort of be looking for another offensive line coach.
Unknown Speaker 4:48
Kind of bothers me because they did pretty good.
Byron Jones 4:51
Yeah, well, they got better. They got better as the year but now you figure the senior bowl is coming up and you know that get down there no be network so they’ll find Somebody can’t get the job. Well, I hope so because
Victor Arocho 5:02
you got a con coming back. And that’s going to be a big help if we get that running game going, I think, I think I think Jones can do enough to keep, you know, I mean, it’d be the regular giant quarterbacks that we need to keep
Byron Jones 5:15
a manager that’s going to be Cain.
Victor Arocho 5:19
Right? Cuz I would say, quad receivers, we have a defensive way they’re playing. You know, definitely it’d be good. So what do you think about Odell in and sacog getting together? You think they’re trying to plan something?
Byron Jones 5:32
What can you play, both of them are coming off, no injuries, no injuries. They’ll say quad is creeping up on, you know, that big contract. So I’m pretty sure he’s not going to be a problem child because he said he saw pretty much what the Giants do with proper children.
Victor Arocho 5:48
Now say one, I don’t think that’s enough. Just wondering if, if, if, and obviously, they got a relationship. I was just wondering if maybe, you know Odell is trying to get his way back into the giants,
Byron Jones 6:00
as long as data was a quarterback this way.
Victor Arocho 6:05
Well, you know, well, let’s keep going forward. All right. So thanks for the updates. All right. So the AFC Cleveland Brown? No, we went we went through that right. Cleveland Browns, a chiefs. Alright, so we had the Cleveland Browns at the chiefs. Right? That was That was last week. So but what did you think about that game? The game got close.
Byron Jones 6:31
It was close until you know, what’s his name without mahomes? You know, then the whole thing, you know, change. And, you know, they, they hung on, they’ll put it by thread. I didn’t even know Chad henne was still playing. When I saw him go out there, you know, the quarterback for Kansas City. Where this guy doesn’t
Unknown Speaker 6:53
know Michigan,
Byron Jones 6:54
or Michigan or Florida State, Michigan guy. And next year, he’s not there. I was like, well, where’d he come from? And then when they went for the fourth down play when they did the rollout, and now he completed a pass the ice the game or the big run that he made where, you know, he ducked his head, I thought he’s gonna get killed, in a way dumped his head, you know, on the run, but he did it. But they need the other guy. He really needs to be, you know, well and be
Victor Arocho 7:18
able to play this week. It goes back to what you and I were saying. You know, we should probably do a study, maybe in the next few weeks before the Super Bowl about, like the Chad headings, like the guys that are still in the league. Like you’re zero clue they’re in the league. But you know their name. Right? I was when he came in, there was no confusion. We knew who he was. Right.
Unknown Speaker 7:49
So plain.
Victor Arocho 7:52
So, but that was interesting game got really close. I tried to reach out to Benny and to ask him what he thought about that hit. I thought the hit was illegal in the in the sense in the essence of the the rule, like he don’t with his head down
Byron Jones 8:13
there. But that’s not reviewable, but it’s not reviewable,
Victor Arocho 8:16
not reviewable. I’m okay with that. I understand that. And that’s the other part of the rule. But it was still bad. I just don’t like seeing these these bad calls in in crucial times, because they almost call it an illegal hit on someone else in the middle of the field. And then they pulled it off. It pulled the thing. It was in the middle of the field. Right. Yeah. Think about it. The really bad calls that have taken place is there’s been some other ones, but some of them have been. There’s been too many for me in the playoffs that were critical to the games outcome. Right, the saints when that pass interference took place that hit that guy hit, you know, I thought was a I don’t think it was purpose. You know, it’s kind of hard to pull that off, you know, but he and he did hit shoulder. But he led isn’t the rule that if you’re going after you can’t lead with your head no matter what part hits with.
Byron Jones 9:15
Yeah, but he was a rock, you know, the way it I guess interpreted that he’s a runner. You know, the, you know, the guy didn’t know God was pagans. I think his name was he was a runner.
Unknown Speaker 9:28
Yeah, it was the receiver who’s running?
Byron Jones 9:30
Yeah. That’s the receivers name. And that because he was a runner, and he was diving for, you know, the, you know, the pylon or whatever. Maybe that’s why they didn’t call it you know, because, you know, he was a runner and now he’s given itself up to do you know, x, y, z. And that’s maybe why they didn’t call that flight.
Victor Arocho 9:46
Yeah. And you know, that they were talking about the coaches were starting to tell guys that they do not want them to be lunging for the end. They want them to, you know, go in, you’re getting close. You Someone hitting you tuck the ball. Because we’re seeing guys they’re getting hit and fumbling at an end zone, which is causing safeties points in the ball.
Byron Jones 10:09
Well, that’s one of the things they bought what Bella check in New England, he told us guys not to do it, because the only thing that happens is bad things. Guess what happened?
Victor Arocho 10:18
Something bad. Yeah. And they were just saying that that the Cleveland coach was telling his teams to stop doing that, right. I mean, they gotta learn because tyreke Hill was smart what he did. Right when he got the ball, Jesus sat, right, that was really, really, really, really smart. Let me tell you though, it was a good game. I was like to see in a good game. I was impressed with Kansas City overall. Oh, I want to tell you something. You know, remember when we talked one time that Patrick mahomes communicated with Steven Naismith that his name is Patrick, do not call him Pat Riley, we had a conversation. Well, apparently his mom was on a tyrant. A tirade I mean, and talking about that hit that will cause the mahomes to get injured. And you know, the guy tweeted out, hey, I’m sorry. mahomes was like, Hey, we’re all good. Everything’s fine. And his mom was like, that guy should be thrown out of the league. Like
Byron Jones 11:22
a mom protecting her son.
Unknown Speaker 11:24
That’s all it is. Not
Byron Jones 11:24
mama bear, baby bear.
Victor Arocho 11:27
I agree. I know. I had no problem with that. I understand the mom’s side of it. Right. Except for you know, there’s got to be points. She’s got to remember she’s got a superstar son are half a billion dollar contract. Right? He’s a good guy. He doesn’t want to be you know, he said he he probably is not going to be happy with that. Right? Because it’s like, Mom, look, you know, the guy is gonna feel bad already. I told him everything was good. I understand. You’re my mom. But you know, I don’t need guys will think I’m a soft guy. I mean, I would think that it bothered him cuz he’s a good guy.
Byron Jones 12:07
Tell your mother that. I got one too. You got one till you could tell your mother that 1000 times playing sports. Guess what? You’re always she’s always gonna yo. She’s always gonna say that. I’m not mine. Did that from all through high school college.
Unknown Speaker 12:21
You know, you got to get her
Byron Jones 12:23
300 pounds. Oh, he’s gonna hurt you is gonna hurt Yo, but they’re always in good. Ain’t nothing you can do about that? Nothing.
Victor Arocho 12:30
Benny, Benny rivers mom. Sonia started headstart, birth and God rest her soul. She was like a mom to me. She literally ran on the field of bass playing pop water. She ran on the field and started grabbing kids off. Oh, geez.
I got a mama bear. That was a mama bear. But I figured you’d get a kick out of that. Because one was the patent that Patrick and then the mom, you know, like, Hey, that was illegal and blah, blah. I’m like, Look, the league didn’t consider it illegal. Nobody considered it. You know? Or it was she also I guess you mentioned it was intentional. And I don’t believe it was intentional. I don’t believe anything. I think they should be reviewable, when they’re that close when it can affect the game. And then make a decision there. And then I just think these guys need to play smart to the opposite of that he should have been he should have took the ball.
Byron Jones 13:32
The only way that I got to review every single thing, some games would be five hours long. They’ll be long as hell because they got to go to the booth. They got to check with New York, they got a game they’ll be longer than they are now.
Victor Arocho 13:49
I guess some of it I guess maybe inside the red zone or maybe consider anything inside because they review every touchdown. Yeah. I mean, so you know, anyhow, but that was going on there. You know, Patrick mahomes that he really was, I guess I missed that point. He really got hurt. And it didn’t seem like he got hit like it wasn’t. I don’t think it was the concussion because the way I saw it was like a pinch neck nerve. It had to be
Byron Jones 14:17
Yeah, it looked like he blasted on your weight. You know, usually, you know, a lot of times they play the grass field, you know, bounce the head off the turf or whatever. But it didn’t look like you know, he got lit up, you know, like they normally do for that to happen.
Victor Arocho 14:31
Yeah. Yeah, it didn’t. It didn’t seem that bad. But he was he was pretty hurt. Yeah, he was sagging, glassy look like, you know, he looked like Trevor Berbick trying to get up after Tyson.
Byron Jones 14:42
Yeah. And they were trying to help him up and I was like, Oh, hold on a quarterback and let him lay here let
Victor Arocho 14:50
you know the owner was freaking. Anyhow, so late. That was the end of the season for Cleveland. By the way. I believe. Who did you pick? missing.
Unknown Speaker 15:02
Big Cleveland.
Byron Jones 15:03
I think of course,
Unknown Speaker 15:04
we need to run the road at all.
Unknown Speaker 15:07
I know I did
Victor Arocho 15:09
think Cleveland. Alright, so I then Baltimore buffalo. That’s a good one. Okay. with Justin was on. I wish Mike Paul derosa you know cuz they’re everything they were saying that we for. Right so give me your Give me your thoughts on that game and look at one more thing in vonda’s defense. If you listen last week, she was awesome. I think you know Jeff Goff might not be playing. She goes, I don’t care. I’m thinking when the man was like, that was really strong. Yeah, of course. She’s
Byron Jones 15:41
she sticks to her guns. Trust me. I know. I grew up with it. I know how she is.
Victor Arocho 15:46
I grew up with it too. Not as much as we bonded school.
Unknown Speaker 15:54
You
Byron Jones 15:56
had a lot to do with me.
Victor Arocho 15:57
Now cuz you were there one year and then after that was soft. We had three years. Okay, well, I’ll look out for each other anyway. But I was close
Byron Jones 16:05
by Well, I wasn’t really that close.
Victor Arocho 16:11
Here he got kicked out. Yeah, okay.
Unknown Speaker 16:16
Wafula.
Byron Jones 16:17
They did, like a Baltimore. Cuz I knew. I thought that’s right. Cuz I thought that they would put more pressure on, you know, Josh Allen, you know, the way he did. And you know, they only have the one receiver stefon Diggs, and he did get 100 yards, over 100 yards of receiving so he did his thing. But for some reason, the, you know, they couldn’t run the ball, I guess it was because of too much speed buffalo defense, they couldn’t run the ball the way they normally the like, in the first quarter, you know, they were able to line up and they punched him in the mouth. But then after that, when they started running your tackle kind of stuff, which maybe they should, they should have done that, you know, to speed it up. You know, Buffalo defense was catching up to Lamar and you know, dobkins and Edwards, I think the other runningback name is and just went completely after that. And then when he got hurt, that was all she wrote when he got a concussion. But he bowed his head off the turf when he hit the ground.
Victor Arocho 17:16
Yeah, well, it’s exactly what I said, though, you know, you, you have 200 something yards rushing, you got a good shot, when you’re counting on half of that from your quarterback. I mean, that’s a problem, you know, and he didn’t throw Well, no. So you know, he’s not a downfield thrower. And it just, you know, maybe it’s his maturation, that he’s got to get to the next level and so forth. But, you know, my biggest challenge is like, when we had we were debating last week with some of our guests was it’s like it, you know, I don’t I don’t I don’t trust them. I don’t trust Baltimore. Because last year, I thought they were incredible. You know, I mean, I thought they everything defense off at me, they were incredible to me. Right. And then, you know, I know they did great in the last into the season, but I just it’s like me sticking with Pittsburgh, right? I just did that faith, even me my comfort zone. I didn’t have the faith in him. I didn’t have faith in him. And then I just no point that I know, but Well, yeah, I know, New York in Buffalo, and I test not an easy place to play. And that team
Byron Jones 18:26
is good. It didn’t help. That was a little windy in that stadium too. Because the kicker for Baltimore, I think he missed two field goals that probably didn’t change it a little bit. But the fact do we get down all the way down there and get, you know, no points that didn’t help either.
Victor Arocho 18:42
Why? I could tell you that when you’re in college, we had a good kicker, which happens to be my fraternity brother shout out john Mattos. And you know, you playing defense I played defense. That year, I realized the importance of having a kicker that can score, we we beat one of the best teams, nine to six because our offense couldn’t score. He kicked three field goals. We only held them to one touchdown round when you hear them either one touchdown or two field goals. And we want the next two years we don’t score we have was either or offense. That’s it. We barely score field goals. And he can kick from you know from a decent distance. And man is up as a defensive player. I want points. Right? I need time to rest give me some shot, man. I’ve lost games five to zero. quarterbacks stepped out in the end zone. Two points and they beat us on the field bill. That’s terrible.
Byron Jones 19:46
Well, we had two good kickers at Tulsa, we had Jason’s porowski and I’ll do Chrome. So in both of them, you’ve got NFL shots. They were there very good Kickers, both of them.
Victor Arocho 19:56
And so I have such as so much appreciation for getting those Three points, because that just changed you know, then you got the kickoff, you know, it gives you rest, right? It gives you It gives you time you know where they’re starting. It’s it’s also a better you’re kind of more positive, right? It just anyway I just wanted to go through that But again, it’s that he didn’t play well. Now, Nomar though,
Byron Jones 20:21
right? When he got hurt that was all she wrote. And his secondary quarterback I don’t even know who this guy was. I was like, Who is this guy? I thought it was Robert Griffin was a second string guy
Unknown Speaker 20:33
yeah released Yeah.
Byron Jones 20:35
And then all sudden this other dude I was like, Okay.
Unknown Speaker 20:40
Who’s this? Oh,
Victor Arocho 20:42
you notice it all these guys got picked by Washington and get kind of like washed out and why?
Byron Jones 20:51
Shanahan killed Robert Griffin’s career Yeah, what he sent him back when he was hurt. And he sent it back out there and you’ll mess up his day. And he was never the same player. So Shanahan has a lot to do
Victor Arocho 21:02
with Robert Haskins. They threw him in the beginning one game he barely knew the offensive. Why would you do that? Because he was hurt.
Byron Jones 21:15
Oh, hopefully, they’ll do better.
Victor Arocho 21:17
Yeah, we’ll see what happens. All right. So that was you know, Josh Allen. You got pluses. Ooh, well, Rams in the Packers. Right? Um, I think everybody picked the Packers. No, no,
Byron Jones 21:30
I picked the Rams.
Victor Arocho 21:36
Alright, you picked you picked the Rams. Okay, so
Rams in the Packers, right? I wanted to pick the one before the Rams in the Packers. You pick the you pick the Rams. The Rams? Oh my god against Aaron Rodgers. Um, he let him up.
Byron Jones 22:01
Yeah, cuz I figure you know, Aaron Donald, it would be 100% come to find out. He wasn’t 100% he only played like, I think they said like 54% of the snaps. And that’s a that’s a big difference not having him you know, and they’re causing all kinds of havoc in the middle. And it is what it is, you know, over three over
Victor Arocho 22:24
again, the our guest last week might call a door remember he he also picked the Packers but his biggest things is exactly what you said. He said they’re going to be hitting him in those ribs. He’s got to wear red pads. Remember, last week, so apparently, he had that on point and apparently, and he was hurt more than that than he was expecting. Right. So and then Aaron Rodgers is Roger, so that’s awesome. Tampa Bay and New Orleans you pick the early Orleans and then in petrosino pinkner loralee.
Unknown Speaker 23:06
Yeah, he did. So
Victor Arocho 23:09
he went with you. Right. And, and I picked him up. I picked him up and that was without telling Tonio brown which kind of scares me a little bit but because he’s a little edgier, so hopefully he gets back but what did you think about that game?
Byron Jones 23:26
It didn’t help that path. Drew Brees threw three interceptions for some reason they don’t want to run the Camaro the way they should run them he should get more touches and he gets you should get at least 20 to 25 you know touches a game but he doesn’t for some reason. The taysom Hill I think I didn’t even know he was hurt you know the quarterback to do everything quarterback and receiver everything he didn’t play at all. And it just wasn’t what I thought it was
Victor Arocho 23:57
it Mike Jones didn’t get anything don’t know what happened there was it Jones one of their top receivers didn’t get anything he was he had to be hurt or something but I mean
Byron Jones 24:07
for what for
Unknown Speaker 24:09
safety? Yeah,
Byron Jones 24:10
but Michael Thomas that he didn’t didn’t play well at all.
Unknown Speaker 24:15
inventoriable
Byron Jones 24:16
Well, they throw it in you know didn’t catch the damn thing.
Victor Arocho 24:20
Let me take Camaro scares me if there was you know, I picked the bucks. But Adam everything Camaro scared that guy just I don’t think it just seems like he can’t be stopped.
Byron Jones 24:32
Yeah, but they don’t use him the way they should. Now they give you get 1015 touches, you know, he’ll run a sweep screen, you know, and little stuff like that. He should be in there all the time. He should be like Marshall Faulk was back in the day, either. Yeah, but he’s been. He’s not like a little he’s a big brother back. And yeah,
Victor Arocho 24:52
it reminds me of Dickerson
Byron Jones 24:54
because it was huge, because it was a lot bigger. You think he was Oh, really Probably about sixth grade, he was tall, he is tall, and he put in a lot of Jheri curl that made him look you know taller
Victor Arocho 25:08
but he’s not that small either.
Byron Jones 25:11
But you know they don’t give him you know, you know either they’ll paint Sean Payton is outsmart yourself or you know I can use this guy and this guy and this guy. Hey, I got back there is your cowbell. Give him the ball. He’ll get him the ball yo on screens, sweeps or whatever, but get him the ball.
Victor Arocho 25:30
And I’m I’m a think part of me kind of feels like breezes was more hurt than he then he was leaving on number one and, and two cuz he just played terrible. I think he knew that was his last game. I think he wanted to play against Brady. Right? But he played bad. I mean, I’ve never seen the breeze play play like this. She played really bad. And the Bucs defense. You know, they came they came to play but Brees played bad and you know, it was great to see these two quarterbacks going after each other right. And then afterwards Brady came out played with his kids. That was nice. Nice. Nice guy. Yeah, man you you get really a good perspective and Brady goes over to shake the hands on the other quarterbacks he’s just so much bigger than a little bit bigger than you think here he is like a head bigger. So good, but it also makes Brady so good.
Byron Jones 26:37
a breeze is only six foot tall so
Victor Arocho 26:40
technically Yeah. at that game, so you went Alright, so we have the Oh yeah, I have it here. Okay, I went for it. Oh, excellent. Buffalo Browns Browns a cheese. So we just go through those picks there. Alright, so now we got the the matchup the championships. All right, you got Tampa at Green Bay. Lights you got what do you think? And
Byron Jones 27:10
I put my Bruce arion hat on.
Unknown Speaker 27:14
Like Huh, that’s right. You like him?
Byron Jones 27:17
That’s why he wears them cool. He got the cool cango Yo yo yo the brothers like him so guess what I’m ride with no risk is no biscuit Bruce area
Victor Arocho 27:28
you go with the bucks. Let me ask you I think it’s the Bucks it was Kansas City but I think it’s the Bucks they said that the bucks if you see that it’s a red team the Bucks okay the city but I think it’s the bucks that all the Hello. It was all the like the next level high level coaches are all minorities are all African American or minority.
Byron Jones 27:55
Yeah. And then I’ve got a job a guy job
Victor Arocho 27:58
one time but at least he’s got a whole high level staff. I mean, that’s the beginning right? You got to keep moving up. But I didn’t know that it This was just a tidbit that I wanted to bring up the last of which is always good to get something because he’s not he’s not in the same position as Eric the enemy
Byron Jones 28:20
is also the coordinator who is left which
Victor Arocho 28:25
right. My point being is like being enemies is kind of gets blended into Andy Reid as offensive coordinator right the enemy left which is the offensive coordinator. I think he’s got an opportunity for for head coaching.
Byron Jones 28:40
But they’re all filled now. They just build it. They fill the eagle job today, couple of hours like three hours ago
Unknown Speaker 28:49
with
Byron Jones 28:51
the offensive coordinator from the calls of Siri. Nick sirianni is his name he was off to the coordinator. He’s the same as he’s in the same boat as the enemy. He’s the offensive coordinator and title but Frank Wright calls the place so No, that’s that’s this is where I have an issue with the whole Rooney Rule thing.
Victor Arocho 29:14
Oh, yeah. Right. But they got they will he the other team’s got picks right.
Byron Jones 29:21
The Jets the jets that when they picked all solid?
Victor Arocho 29:24
Yeah. Well, I like to introduce you to one of our co hosts or and our moderator nachi introduced to miss a miss Ellis. Mr. Sellars.
Unknown Speaker 29:39
Hey, Bob. Hey, Bob.
Brian Vaughn 29:42
Finishing up homework.
Byron Jones 29:45
Oh, you’re working on your like 900 degrees you’ve been gone.
Brian Vaughn 29:48
I don’t have 900 only to maybe
Byron Jones 29:54
two or three more than other people got.
Victor Arocho 29:57
bother. We were just talking about. I buy Enzo for four picks
Brian Vaughn 30:02
it up. pitiful pitiful.
Unknown Speaker 30:05
Last last last last
Unknown Speaker 30:07
night sweatshirt.
Victor Arocho 30:11
Exactly. So now we’re talking about Tampa and Green Bay. Who do you have on Tampa? in Green Bay? Who me at Green Bay?
Unknown Speaker 30:21
Uh,
Brian Vaughn 30:21
I don’t know. I’m still going. I’m going with Tampa though.
Victor Arocho 30:25
Yeah, we’re okay. So we’re all three going to Tampa by what are the keys to success? You think if you got if you can go both sides is fine. But what are the keys to success Tampa is going to need to do to win the game, they’re
Byron Jones 30:42
going to be able to run the ball depending on the weather. If the weather you know, if it’s typical Green Bay weather, they got to be able to run the ball. They got to be able to protect Brady. And they’re going to have to be able to have to get after I’m Aaron Rodgers is a key. They do that. It should be fine.
Victor Arocho 31:02
I 1,000% great. I believe that the stats of running they ran a lot this weekend. Like they ran like they were 5050 running and passing.
Byron Jones 31:14
Well I need a little bit more 6040
Victor Arocho 31:18
Yeah, because I think that come through and then Antonio Browns a little hurt. So he’ll be hopefully he comes back as he’s the guy that I’ve been promoting the most that I thought they were the hottest right? So and then what do you think what would Green Bay need to do?
Byron Jones 31:35
same same thing they need to run the ball, get the ball the davante Adams, and they need to get out to pray. And indeed you know somebody needs to cover Mike Evans anger Catholic well Greg gronkowski is gonna be big in this game. You know dependently over the world. He’s a big you know, big receiver and he’s gonna be a key that’s what they need to do.
Victor Arocho 31:59
And you know, the advantage I think they have is that Brady and gronk they have no problem playing in cold weather.
Byron Jones 32:09
Indoor for years.
Victor Arocho 32:12
Yeah, me pretty good. Well, I blacked it out a little bit. Yeah, I don’t think we’re
Byron Jones 32:18
played in Michigan. You know, it’s colder Michigan played in New England for
Unknown Speaker 32:21
20 years in New England so it cold is not gonna bother him 10 years they’ll be
Byron Jones 32:28
just fine.
Victor Arocho 32:29
You know, gronk Krug I like him man, his personality and God bless him. He’s got a great future he was on. He was like, Man, this is great. And he already already committed to playing next year. I think it will be dangerous.
Byron Jones 32:44
Superbowl he plays a suit. They witness your hand coming back.
Victor Arocho 32:49
Well, he stated committed that he’s coming back. He got something next couple years anyways, he was like, Man, this is great. I’ve been in league for 10 years I’ve been attending champion 10 conference championship was at some at some career
Byron Jones 33:05
authority site Bruce Arians if he wins the Super Bowl, he’s gonna retire.
Victor Arocho 33:09
Really? We’ll see. We’ll see. The This is another matchup of great quarterbacks. Right? Because you got Brady against Rogers think about what Brady’s journey is. It’s Brady versus Brees. Now Brady versus Rogers. That’s some path to get to the super bowl and then it gets to the Super Bowl. There’s a chance he may be playing against Patrick mahomes
Byron Jones 33:39
if he plays this week,
Victor Arocho 33:40
if he plays this week, right because I don’t think Chad henne is gonna bring Vonda What are your thoughts? Or the I guess the the the matchup? You’re already against those two quarterbacks? I mean, those are two great quarterbacks in our lifetime.
Brian Vaughn 33:57
And I know going back to Green Bay though, it’s gonna be cold. Oh, just trying to see what the weather was gonna be like on Sunday. High 29 low 18. Oh,
Victor Arocho 34:08
and don’t mention the windchill factor.
Brian Vaughn 34:10
Exactly. And a possibility of rain so we know what’s gonna end up happening there, though. Yep. So we’ll see how Brady does.
Victor Arocho 34:24
Does the I think he’ll Yeah, I think I think it’ll do fine. But it’s just again the quarterback matchup. This is awesome. But you know, Byron, we’re back to the same thing I mentioned last week was the importance of you know, Rodgers is definitely Hall of Fame. breezes are definitely Hall of Fame. But you’re back to both of those guys want one Super Bowl. One, okay. Now they’re going against the go. Right? And it goes back to you know, it’s a Brady’s in another step. The next and the quarterbacks at another step to solidify their greatness they got to go through Brady. And for Brady, you know, the Bucs get to the Super Bowl and Brady takes him there. He’s taking these taking the team to a Super Bowl in two different conferences. And in this conference wasn’t an easy conference and he’s going through some great quarterbacks. These just Hall of Fame games.
Byron Jones 35:25
really is. But we’ll see now maybe he’s, he’s a special quarterback. You know, I have to admit, I’m the giant guy. You know, he’s one six, but we did knock them off two times. And you never know. On any given Sunday, what’s going to happen? Yeah, like bomb that when you’re sitting there saying about the weather. If it’s raining and snowing or whatever, it’s gonna be a little different.
Victor Arocho 35:54
Let me ask you a question. They made a comment. I was watching the sports show this morning. And they were showing Green Bay and listen, I go man, this is no be good football, weather. And then one of the defensive back. That’s one of the commentators goes. That’s not football weather. Playing a cold pain in the rain. When people come off and say, Oh, that’s great football. What? Heck no. I want to play when it’s sunny.
Unknown Speaker 36:26
Florida, I don’t want to play the goal.
Unknown Speaker 36:29
And then
Victor Arocho 36:31
forgot a gentleman’s name. But the bigger lineman he’s on That’s for you. That’s good football weather for big guys. I got a lot of cushion. We like it cold.
Unknown Speaker 36:49
Oh,
Unknown Speaker 36:52
you froze up there for a minute froze up for a minute.
Unknown Speaker 36:55
I’m sorry. What are your thoughts?
Byron Jones 36:57
What about the big guy cushion thing?
Victor Arocho 37:00
Yeah, playing in the cold versus,
Byron Jones 37:03
like being a defensive lineman. I gotta do is go forward, there’s no way if I’m going backwards Is something wrong. So I’ll be fine. You know, going forward, or, you know, side to side or whatever. You’re the one that would have a problem because you got to backpedal and do your thing back there, you know, in the snow and the rain or whatever. I’m sure it’s slipping and sliding all over the place. The receiver knows where he’s going. You don’t. I know where I’m going as a defense event. I’m going to go get the quarterback. I’m going to get the running back. And then we’re having a little extra cushion when you fall down, you know, in the rain or the snow or whatever. You know, it’s kind of squishy, and everything. But you know, it works out fine, because you do have that extra layer like a polar bear. or black bear. grizzly bear.
Victor Arocho 37:45
It was funny. It was funny by the hydrolate promo video I did. No kidding.
Brian Vaughn 37:52
I couldn’t I couldn’t do anything but laugh. Wow. The Byron’s the comedian.
Victor Arocho 38:01
I showed my wife she started cracking up. I mean, he does things makes me laugh so hard. did that. And then clothing. Well, I mean, I’m excited for this weekend. I just again, I want Brady to win. I like Aaron Rodgers. So I mean, there’s no confusion. You know, I like Aaron Rodgers. And then the Buffalo and the chiefs. You know, Patrick mahomes I just, we’re gonna see what happens i don’t think i think he’s gonna play
Byron Jones 38:30
well, it’s not even up to him, but a team now he’s another concussion protocol. So it’s up to the doctors or, you know, however they work that you know if he’s gonna play or not. But they said the other day, I think yesterday that he did do like team activities. So like, I think his team activities and it’s something else that has something else on Friday. And then you know, they’re probably you know, clearing them, you know, for Saturday or Sunday, whatever they call it. But, you know, that’s all in the doctors hands now. So, back to the day, or you get a concussion. How many fingers am I holding up? Six. All right, you’re good. Get back in there. You know, they don’t do that anymore. I did have a concussion one time in college.
Unknown Speaker 39:08
And you know, made a second.
Unknown Speaker 39:10
Yeah,
Byron Jones 39:11
no, I knew I had I knew I had this one. Because I
Victor Arocho 39:14
and I’m saying that you knew you had that. concussions. We don’t know. We at
Byron Jones 39:19
all. I knew I had this one because I ended up someplace I should have been. That’s why I knew I had a concussion. I was like, Whoa, this is not a good idea. This is bad. So I was jacked up.
Victor Arocho 39:31
Well, I knew I had a concussion. Okay, when we won, we won the game in college 33 to zero. It’s hot. It’s we’re in the locker room, right? games over. Everyone’s taking their equipment off. And I look to the I was a sophomore. Sophomore for I was a freshman. I look to one of the juniors tailback tie and I started panicking. My time what’s going on? What was everybody taking off to coordinate? I think that happened to me before.
Byron Jones 40:09
Yeah, don’t worry about.
Victor Arocho 40:11
We’re good. Let’s get on a plane. Let’s get on the bus and then we get going. But that was bad, man. But I just think there’s things we don’t know that we had, right? Because our equipment wasn’t as good back in Amboy like it is today.
Byron Jones 40:24
It’s a little different. Does this have a fit here? Put it on.
Victor Arocho 40:30
Wrong. Can we get a bag for a different face, man, they gave me anything. I’m like, dude, I’m a defensive back. I can’t have all this stuff in my face. That was pretty good. That is interesting. So the keys to the game for buffalo to win. What do you think Vonda What do you hope you’re picking the Chiefs? Or
Brian Vaughn 40:53
I’m picking the Chiefs even though we don’t know what’s gonna happen with my homes. I know, Barton just like Byron said, I know. He was practicing a little bit yesterday. And just like Byron said, It’s his to call the doctor. He might say that he’s okay for him to go ahead and play. But I’m still going with Kansas City, even though they got a backup quarterback. Let’s see how he’ll go ahead and do.
Victor Arocho 41:20
What 17 years.
Byron Jones 41:23
He was a quarterback when Tom Brady played. He played
Unknown Speaker 41:27
he was he was a he was before Tom Brady.
Byron Jones 41:32
No. Tom Brady. Been there? 20 years?
Victor Arocho 41:35
Oh, yeah. Okay. Yes, he was close. It was. I thought he was gonna be great too, because I thought there was a lot of quarterbacks that came out of Michigan. Chad heading heavy, who was wonderful.
Byron Jones 41:50
It’s kind of like Ohio.
Unknown Speaker 41:52
Both Byron and I both
Byron Jones 41:56
kind of like Ohio State quarterback. So I did. Oh, yeah. It’s a bunch of them. But it gets NFL food a steak.
Victor Arocho 42:02
Yeah. University of Miami produce some good ones. Like who? University of Miami?
Unknown Speaker 42:11
Oh,
Victor Arocho 42:11
are you kidding? Me? You want it? You want me to rattle it off of a big universe Miami. They had all these guys at the same time. Jim Kelly. Was he good? Yes, he was good. Okay. Vinny Testaverde
Byron Jones 42:26
won the Heisman stuck suck in the national championship game loss.
Victor Arocho 42:30
Okay, but he broke some records in the NFL. He played
Byron Jones 42:34
he played 20 years longevity.
Victor Arocho 42:38
Right. So but play 20 years still. You gotta be pretty good. I think 20 years of savage quarterback
Byron Jones 42:46
average. Thanks.
Victor Arocho 42:49
Okay, wait, still introduce him. Jim Kelly. Vinny Testaverde. Already goes are who are any closer? Yeah to go. Huh, hmm.
Byron Jones 43:02
He was average he got he got a Super Bowl when he went with Dallas
Victor Arocho 43:05
by accident. Right. But he took Cleveland to playoffs that a lot of quarterbacks. I’m just telling you. He did pretty well. I’ll bring the list next week. They had a lot of good quarterbacks that coming out of there. So we’re pretty I’m pretty excited for this weekend. Again, it’s all on Sunday. Now there was something I want to just bring up. I’m going to ask you this question. And I’m going to tell you how they they talked about it this morning was you got Brady, you had a knowing what you know, now you had to pick a quarterback to start a team. Which quarterback would you take now? Brady Rodgers or mahomes mahomes
Unknown Speaker 43:53
mahomes mahomes
Unknown Speaker 43:57
I’m gonna go with
Byron Jones 44:01
the beginning though his whole body of work at Michigan. He didn’t like Patrick mahomes put up numbers at Texas Tech. Brady didn’t do that up there. Yeah. And then, you know, when he went to combine that, you know, he ran the slowest 40 yard dash in the history of the 40. But he didn’t but once he got in the right system, and then he got developed, you know, he went there he weighed 250. Now, I bet he’s about 240. You know, he got built up when once he got to that FL he didn’t do all these great things. When he was in Michigan. He was a good quarterback. He wasn’t Patrick mahomes the way he was at Texas Tech.
Unknown Speaker 44:33
Right. Okay.
Unknown Speaker 44:43
caught me off guard
Victor Arocho 44:49
mahomes versus everybody that took mahomes or Rodgers didn’t take Brady. Okay. And what they were doing they were giving the stats Write of what Rogers you know, Stephen A Smith is a big Rogers fan. He was given the stats for Rogers. And look, the stats from Rogers are impressive. What they didn’t even make a comment of was the fact that he didn’t play for four years. So the stats that he has, he’s missing four years of plate. Right? And then they were talking about mahomes stats, and you know, whose is is what he’s done accomplished so far already in this league, and he is definitely a special talent. Okay. But let me tell you why pick Brady. No different than when I was asked the question. I’m a big Yankee fan. Always ask the question if I was to start a team right now, knowing what I know now, who would I pick? Alex Rodriguez or Derek Jeter? Who would you pick? Byron Jeter? Who would you pick one?
Brian Vaughn 45:55
I’m not too much of a fan of baseball. So okay,
Victor Arocho 45:59
I’ll pick pick why you picked either
Byron Jones 46:02
just had all around again, even just a better he’s a leader who’s more of a leader than a stat guy. Alex Rodriguez a more of a stat guy. You know, he’d never he didn’t win until he got to be with they’re here. So I would pick Jr. Just read that he
Unknown Speaker 46:16
would just he’s a natural leader.
Byron Jones 46:18
And you know when the when the chips were down?
Unknown Speaker 46:21
He was there.
Victor Arocho 46:23
And Rodriguez was a better shortstop no doubt, right put up numbers, but I would pick Jeter and everyone goes all because you’re super Yankee fan. No. Because he’s to me is like a Montana. He is. You know, I think one of them picked Joe Montana. Right. All the It started off with the question they asked Jerry right. And Jerry Rice was like, Look, I gotta take Joe, I gotta take Joe cool. Joe was the most metal winning guy I’ve ever seen in my life. That’s Jerry Rice stating that and I’m picking Brady for the same reason I picked Jeter right? He’s just a winner. He makes other people he makes other people better. His work ethic is incredible. I just think you can as long as you have really good talent, but your work ethic is there and it makes a difference. I think the he makes everyone around them better. So that’s why I pick him I just wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts and I’m not big on on just the stats at the end of the day. Look at the stats we can’t compare to you know, being in
Unknown Speaker 47:35
really broad tech guy.
Unknown Speaker 47:37
Yeah, so I’m gonna call it
Brian Vaughn 47:41
all in Billy
Victor Arocho 47:45
What’s up guys? JOHN Carroll senior is that you guys?
Byron Jones 47:51
Don’t want to work with him. Cuz Sheriff’s Department. Bopha
Unknown Speaker 47:56
Come on in
Victor Arocho 47:59
debt. Well, that’s why I would pick you know, I just you never know what’s how long the longevity of mahomes right. is still think he’s a superstar. I think Rogers just phenomenal no doubt. But if I’m going to go with someone that I knowing when I know now that just a winner is a winner. He’s a winner. It’s just that’s just me. I like Montana. Okay, so now, Brian. Byron, you wanted to bring up? Why don’t you talk a little bit about the NFL Hall of Fame. Final 15.
Byron Jones 48:30
We finally have where it’s fair, kind of sorta. Sam Mills is the only one I’m hyping up Sam bills. Well, he’s one of the final 15. So I think they got nine or down to five out of the 15. And then on the other side on the seniors committee, you have drew Pearson, from South river guy, University of Tulsa is, you know, probably going to get in with this time he should have got last year. He got robbed last year. You know, he had a big old party at his house, and they embarrassed the poor guy, you know, by him not getting them. He was one. He’s the only guy that from the old 70s decades. It was I think it’s him and it’s another one that are not in the Hall of Fame. Everybody from that 70s decades he is in the whole thing but him and I forgot who I think it’s Deke Anderson from the Miami Dolphins are the only two that are not I might be wrong with that. But the only two that are not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. sandals deserve. He was a dominant player. You know, at the USFL Philadelphia stars. He was a dominant player with the New England, New England but New Orleans Saints, though for 15 years. 15 years. He did this. He was five foot nine Division Three school, Montclair State.
Victor Arocho 49:44
Credit, right? I mean, I would think that would give him extra credit to be able to perform at that level for that long, right. And that good and that short, I mean, all those kind of things should kind of Almost all those pieces should attribute towards being selected. But they don’t.
Byron Jones 50:07
What they do is that you know, they guys go to the Super Bowl while this guy won three Super Bowls, this 112 this one went to 10 you know, like or lacquer or lacquer went, you know, to one Super Bowl. And you know, he was a whole bunch of, you know, pro football, a whole bunch of Pro Bowl games. So he got huh. And commercials. Yeah, commercial. So, you know, Sam Mills played down there, you know, in New Orleans, you know, kind of out of the way but they had the dome patrol they had they had four great linebackers. I think Pat swilling Vaughan, Ricky Jackson, and him for I think Ricky Jackson’s in the Hall of Fame already know, even Jim Mora the head coach for the Philadelphia stars here said he was the best player that he ever coach. He ever coach. So I don’t know why, yo, he hasn’t gotten the Hall of Fame. He should be there. You know, hopefully, you know, knock on wood. You know, he’ll get on there this time. But you know, what the other guys you know, paint man is gonna get in. I think Calvin Johnson is one of them. And I can’t remember the album but I’m only worried about Sam Mills. And drew Pearson. I want to see both of them. Yeah. And then the other guy, Bill Nunn contributor for these to be the super scout for Pittsburgh Steelers, like from 1968 to like 90 whenever he was, and he’s the one to pick like john Stallworth. Donnie shell, and all these guys that went to you know, historically black colleges. That was this guy. So he’s probably going to get it well hopefully he gets into but it’s nice. I want to see to Jersey guys get in this time.
Unknown Speaker 51:43
Yeah.
Victor Arocho 51:48
He gave me but I definitely like you’ve been mentioning that quite a bit. Um, you know, we got a john Carroll brought up something really good. What do you think about the Texas and I just saw Watson that’s pretty interesting. Well, to get him in Miami. Nah.
Byron Jones 52:12
Well, what are you gonna do? What? Are you gonna go? Yo, the Jets I’d be cramming na for tour. No, I wouldn’t do that. Why even though? The Shawn Watson is 25 years old? No, you don’t do you know very talented. But what do you want to tear it down a little bit to get this guy because you figure he’s got a big salary cap coming in the next year or two? He has like, what do you got? Now? I think they said his like $41 million, whatever it is. So do you really want to stretch it like that? And you know, to win now, because you’ll win now with him. But what about the future where you got to start getting rid of you know, getting rid of certain parts of your team? You know, to keep this guy so? No, either or,
Victor Arocho 52:57
I think you might Miami doesn’t. For me my I’m a dolphin fan. I like to see him I like to. But you know, if you’re 20 years not doing anything as a dolphin fan. I’ll take winning now. What about you five? Now, I’ll take that even now. And it’s just it’s it’s good to be in a city where your football team is just that the organization?
Byron Jones 53:27
They’re building it the right way. They’re building it the right way. Miami? Yeah, by
Unknown Speaker 53:33
Flores.
Byron Jones 53:35
Yeah, but why would you want to say Alright, we’ll assign let’s, let’s go for you. And we’re gonna have to give up to number one picks. Next year’s, second and third round pick, you know, it’s gonna cost them and they have a top five, I think a top five pick, you know, this year that they got a lower pick, like in the 20s you know, they got to know more picks this year. So they’re gonna give up to number one picks and they’re gonna have to give up something next year. You know, for to get this guy. Are they willing to do that though? Are you going to give up draft capital to give this guy
Victor Arocho 54:06
Well, you know, you kind of made to a part of tight Why? He’s Fred gv.
Byron Jones 54:21
I know that I understand that but I’m just saying
Unknown Speaker 54:31
am in Miami.
Byron Jones 54:35
He’s in the NFL. He’s gonna get built up now you’re gonna be pumping iron. He’s not as not as big as he is. He
Victor Arocho 54:41
is right now. Okay, you tell me when you tell me when the point comes where you feel that he’s no longer Friday
Byron Jones 54:50
be next year.
Brian Vaughn 54:51
I was gonna say that you have given one more year more. Yeah, he’s
Byron Jones 54:54
gonna he’s lifting weights and everything. You know the program. He’s gonna be a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger. That’d be just fine. What?
Unknown Speaker 55:04
good fun
Brian Vaughn 55:05
said we’ll see. Get one thing
Victor Arocho 55:08
I like is the Oh, sorry.
Unknown Speaker 55:11
Okay.
Victor Arocho 55:12
One thing I like about the Sean Jackson is um he’s taken a stand. You know, I kind of I kind of like it right he’s got the podium he’s got the power you know, they’re not considering him in the decisions they’re not considering him for for standing up for you know having minority coaches. One of the reasons they were really talking about Miami was you know, good building around a minority you know, Brian Florida’s coach, I just like what would Sean Jackson stand for? And I like him. I think he’s a really really good quarterback. I mean, I mean amazing quarterback I like embedded in Lamar.
Byron Jones 55:55
I think Miami has a GM is a minority I think they were only team but to
Victor Arocho 56:00
really not sure yeah, but again, I think he’s great. He said the same thing. Yeah, why do you have Texas is interesting movie. I mean, that’s a problem though. You gotta quit he doesn’t want to play there.
Byron Jones 56:19
Well, look what they did till they you know they got rid of this guy. You know, Hopkins, they’re not surrounding him with any talent they got rid of the tackle the year before? Staley Yeah, they traded him to Miami. Miami what why don’t take they traded him your left tackle and not a pretty much a train wreck.
Victor Arocho 56:41
Yeah, this bad there
Byron Jones 56:44
knows bad if JJ watts pulls you to the side. So you’re sorry wasted all your time. It’s bad when your own player does that your own guy.
Victor Arocho 56:57
And he’s a he’s a top guy that some people are gonna listen to him. Don’t want to see Joey Joey glass. And well, we’ll see what happens but that’s it. It’s an interesting piece taken up. You know, we’re getting some of the time. Let’s get a little bit into you got a couple of sample athletes you want to mention. I’m sure you’re getting hammered around.
Byron Jones 57:26
Of course. I know. I got all the 1000 point scores. Remember this bomb but the other day I got beat up. I got some of these people. I guess
Unknown Speaker 57:34
you did.
Byron Jones 57:35
Oh yeah. Jays igloo ski big j and the 66. Chad can play with UNCC Rashad robbers for Shawn robbers. 93 john carpenter and dalecross both in 1990 score. They got their 1000 points on the same night, which
Unknown Speaker 57:51
got Tim carpenter he was good
Byron Jones 57:53
player. Andre heard he was 86 William Penny feather Bo Brian Larry Rudolph order. Ricky swindle, Jose yurina Tremaine, Clark, and they had the two tailors. Brian and Blake Blake is the all time leading scorer with 2541. And a special shout out goes to a Ronald Rowling’s 1960. He was the first 1000 points score and per family history.
Unknown Speaker 58:22
That’s awesome.
Byron Jones 58:23
Then you have the females I know I got beat up for not putting the females on here as well. I got the old time leader score is Amanda sup lavida 1200 82 points. Got Alice slump call. She was around my time Fran demko. Get a whole hell from over there. Stockton building homegirl Marlene church, Erica Jones, Jill Chomsky. Yeah,
Victor Arocho 58:51
the other one have to say
Byron Jones 58:53
Jill buck Chomsky.
Victor Arocho 58:57
That’s a pretty good Wow, we had a lot of 1000 ct scores. That’s pretty impressive. Okay, we’ll mention those in right if you text those to me or post them if you post them in for them or hometown, sir, we’ll get more people jumping out
Byron Jones 59:13
of it. I did it already.
Brian Vaughn 59:16
That’s where he got beat up at
Unknown Speaker 59:18
beat upside the head with that.
Victor Arocho 59:22
beat beat up and follow. I show you the names mentioned on the show. I want to move really quick, because I don’t want to lose on some pieces here. So what do you think about Kyrie came back and putting up all those points? Remember, we talked to me a little bit real quick. The NBA remember how we talked about we all? Well, it’s not over yet. But we felt that that team’s going to implode. I still think it has the capability imploded. But I want to see your thoughts on his return.
Byron Jones 59:54
What happened the other day they scored 100 and they lost and wasn’t
Unknown Speaker 1:00:00
Seven penguins.
Byron Jones 1:00:02
The Big Three scored 96 by themselves, the guy Sexton that got traded for Kyrie should have 42 points by itself. So, between the three of them, somebody’s got to figure out how to play defense. I don’t know which one of the three but somebody’s got to figure out how to D somebody up because those kind of games they’re not gonna win those games like that all the time. or lose what they’re gonna lose a lot a lot more than they win with all endpoints band score, because nobody’s stopping anybody.
Victor Arocho 1:00:35
And you know, playing basketball watching basketball, and especially how good basketball has gotten your knees good as your as your, your your backups, your bed. Kind of depth and their beds I heard scored like 10% of the points.
Byron Jones 1:00:53
That’s that’s not good.
Victor Arocho 1:00:56
What happens one guy gets hurt. And I think he took care. He took so many shots. It’s just going to be interesting, you know, who’s going to be who’s really going to be the Alpha Dog. Let me tell you, man, Kevin Durant’s impressive come off at Achilles
Byron Jones 1:01:12
he’s the guy. I’m reading a book about him. But he’s the guy just about a book about Katie and just from when he started as a kid and you know, when he played in the middle Youth League in double a, you know, a year all kinds of stuff. Oh, really?
Victor Arocho 1:01:29
I mean, he’s, he’s playing, he’s playing lights out, playing lights lights out. So we’ll see what happens there. My son is big on he’s gonna come out of East. The East is going to be Brooklyn, but I still got my I think it’s tough. It’s going to be tough. Hey, I think it’s there’s still possibilities for it to be imploding because, you know, he demonstrated that he’s gonna shoot like there’s no confusion right and then you got Katie, you got a there’s not enough shots in the game.
Byron Jones 1:02:03
Although all of the 2025 shots a game that’s a lot of shots between three people. So that they have a bad night. That’s gonna be a long basketball game.
Victor Arocho 1:02:14
Yes, I agree. And then I want to bring up Philly. Okay, so I’m going to eat a little crow. Pirate I think we both have to his job beats playing well remember last week called lazy? lazy, lazy. We call him bad.
Byron Jones 1:02:38
He has one good game at it whenever he deals.
Victor Arocho 1:02:43
Well, he’s really really playing well. He’s jumped shot. I mean, I mean,
Unknown Speaker 1:02:47
he’s seven foot, man.
Unknown Speaker 1:02:50
You don’t have to
Unknown Speaker 1:02:52
talk bad about
Byron Jones 1:02:55
seven foot two man. He shouldn’t be shooting no jumpers. Man, he should be down in the paint. Like all the other big guys used to do seven foot two.
Victor Arocho 1:03:04
jumper man and at least it’s coming back. I mean, he played well. They said that he’s getting mentored or working out with getting in shape is being taught by Dwight, Dwight Howard.
Byron Jones 1:03:16
Really, of all people to pick he’s a he’s a slacker to
35 teams, he can bet on every team in NBA and what he did when he went to the Lakers a couple last year, whenever he went when he won, he won that was he thought he sent us another seven foot guy want to shoot it in the paint man, because you’re gonna follow him.
Victor Arocho 1:03:47
They made this comment because the way it came out is that Dwight Howard is mentoring Joelle and be and then when he announced he goes, mentoring, why would Howard I don’t think that would be the mentor I would want. He said they met he’s mentoring for physical fitness. Right, then that makes sense, because he’s been in the league for a long time. And he did a good job. I mean, he was instrumental in their in their in their championship run. I mean, definitely definitely was he came in banged out the boards, you know, and God bless him. He did that. But from a physical standpoint, he’s helped Joelle beat, it seems like it’s paying off, but I agree with the other side. Exactly. You went a little harder on them. That’s the truth. Right, like you’re in Philly. Yeah.
Byron Jones 1:04:41
I worried about these people. I think. mp has been in the league for five years. Now he has a finger. Oh, well, let me get Oh, let me get in shape now. Oh, come on really, really badly.
Victor Arocho 1:04:54
Hulu has live sports huh? Hulu has live sports commercials he was doing a lot of those commercials that goes back to like sometimes when I pick teams it’s like it’s that’s the reason I see a john being I just feel that he’s lazy or whatever I didn’t go I I’ll pick against them and they prove me wrong. Okay, great. But Same thing with Lamar Jackson I went against them because of what I’ve seen in the past. right but then they surprise you. But But you’re you know, you’re looking on past past performances and predicting future performance. But the past performance can be an indicator of the possibility of future performance. No. Yeah, but
Byron Jones 1:05:41
look at it this way. You got Ben Simmons, number one pick on a team. Joel, who shoots a better jumper. The center or a former Ben Simmons is awful. When it 20 feet out, feel now I hit him before he I know I can’t ship now. So I hit 20 foot before he will he is he’s good to go into the basket. But as far as shooting the dumper he is awful.
Victor Arocho 1:06:09
I’m gonna make me an awesome mix. clim Byron as a quarterback from last week, remember? He said I can play quarterback and now I got Byron as a professional NBA player.
Byron Jones 1:06:26
I’ll shoot a jumper better than Ben Simmons right now.
Unknown Speaker 1:06:28
Yeah, baseball player.
Unknown Speaker 1:06:33
Me to cancer.
Byron Jones 1:06:34
I was I was like I was a catcher, man. So my arm went
Unknown Speaker 1:06:50
on the ball.
Unknown Speaker 1:06:52
Oh my god. That’s
Victor Arocho 1:06:53
funny. Kenny I wanted to bring him up because again, you know he’s doing better and we’ve been we’ve been tearing him apart right and I’m still not a lot of games. Other games in there anyways. Alright, so your guide you know he I don’t know what he means by some of his Texas but thank you for texting. Somebody doing their homework. Okay. Alrighty, so what do you what do you think is gonna happen this weekend? excited for the game since two more games and then we got the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl is the week before now
Byron Jones 1:07:28
it is a virtual thing or whatever they’re not having a real game. Oh,
Unknown Speaker 1:07:33
having a real game.
Byron Jones 1:07:35
I think they’re gonna be playing like PlayStation or whatever crazy thing they’re gonna do.
Victor Arocho 1:07:38
Yeah, do you think the Pro Bowl is worth it? Now?
Byron Jones 1:07:43
Now because what do they do? It’s like it’s not even a tag it’s like oh don’t hit the ground hold the whole game they owe
Victor Arocho 1:07:50
money I wouldn’t want to get hurt on a game that’s like you know
Byron Jones 1:07:54
back in the day was fine you know they go to Hawaii you’ll get a whole week in Hawaii bring your family y’all hang out on the beach and whatever and now Yeah, they try not to get hurt
Victor Arocho 1:08:06
I don’t blame them look at the money I mean, would you want to send your half a billion dollar quarterback to the nope play an all star game?
Unknown Speaker 1:08:14
No.
Victor Arocho 1:08:17
You know I wouldn’t want to play take take a chance I mean, you take chances in the game itself when you do like you know look at Jason c horn for the giants. There’s one of my favorite players they decided to put him back to receive a kickoff and look what happened that was that was all for
Unknown Speaker 1:08:36
me me me me.
Unknown Speaker 1:08:38
I can do it.
Victor Arocho 1:08:41
But everybody does that right but he shouldn’t have done it though. Just because they he’s asked for it It shouldn’t have done it you know you know being a punt returner kick returner do those you’re gonna get hit. I mean there’s a little confusion get hit or you’re gonna get hit these are worse when I was returning kicks. The worst was like yeah like, like you know the the duck when you’re shooting the ducks at the fair and the fers Vonda that is crap. That’s as fast as I went down. Oh, yes.
Unknown Speaker 1:09:20
That hurt. I rather go head to head with someone with no problem. Never be there for
Byron Jones 1:09:27
them. What? toughen up, man. You’d be I
Victor Arocho 1:09:30
was tough. I played it, man. I did. I did well, but that but when you get hit without seeing that hurts.
Byron Jones 1:09:36
Well, I would I never returned kicks. I would never know
Victor Arocho 1:09:39
why return kicks and punts.
Unknown Speaker 1:09:41
I do that either. I’d
Victor Arocho 1:09:44
be a little bit sick out of return punt. Yeah. All right. So I’m looking forward to it. We’ll see how this MVA plays out with Kyrie and the whole situation. I’m glad the inauguration went off with no problem. You know, no violence, nothing took place there. So that was very, I was very happy to see that I didn’t want to see us continuing to look like third world country. Sorry about other countries, but we’re not that country that shouldn’t have taken place. Wait a second place. And then do an AMA leave with this just this last piece is a, you know, there was the GM for the Mets. You know, he got fired. sure you’re hearing all that stuff down over there, up north, he got fired for sending inappropriate Texas and inappropriate pictures to lady from xe from another country that was interning, right. So I guess trying to take advantage of the fact that she was from here, and maybe didn’t know any better, he was higher level. But I was pretty proud of the Mets. And I’m not a Mets fan, but proud of Mets owner fired of zero tolerance. That’s not gonna happen. That’s not the kind of business we’re running. It’s not the kind of team culture that we want to fight and right away. But now, Mike, my issue isn’t just that my thing is, I want to see what your opinion is, is off a little bit on sports is I don’t understand what with guys like that, that are taxing police officers shooting minorities, right. Like, what are they watching that they’re not saying that other people, it’s getting noticed, it’s getting caught? You got in trouble? There was other senators? I mean, if I hear another, you know, a white police officer shooting a black man, I’m like, I still going on there’s not to anybody, I don’t understand when he’s doing it to a minority, and I don’t understand is like, what do you are you not watching TV about all the problems in a corner? How do you keep doing the same stupidity
Byron Jones 1:12:03
a lot of them figure know that they’re not going to get caught, or, you know, they’re really not paying attention to their surroundings as far as what’s going on. Because you do have people with, you know, cell phone with the videos all replaced, so you should know better. You know, you know, a lot of departments do have the body cam on there. You know, a lot of times when, you know, people do certain things, they you know, they either turn the video off, or, you know, whatever, however, it’s activated, you know, just depends what department is. And, you know, they do, you know, their, your dastardly deed or whatever you’re gonna do, you know, I was involved in, you know, quite a few instances where, you know, I got stopped, and I was treated unfairly. And, you know, it was it was handled, but it was just that the point where it shouldn’t got to that point, you know, especially when you identify myself, you know, as such, and they just kept going with. So they do it to me, you know, just think what they do, you know, to your former law firm, just think what they do, the other kids, the ones that we don’t know about the, you know, that didn’t have any of my background, I it’s disgusting. And, you know, the only way you know, this is gonna be fixed is though, when people have a real discussion about race in this country. I mean, a real one, you know, like the Perth Amboy, condom, you know, conversation, not this, you know, let’s go to the class, you know, have a class set up and set up a class and how to go through the whole diversity thing. I mean, a real conversation about race in this country, not one of the fake one, real one, and then maybe the nonsense a little so that it always be there. But maybe it’ll slow down when people see, you know, how we what’s in our shoes, and your shoes? How not? Oh, well, you don’t know, you don’t know. You don’t know how I feel you don’t know what I’ve been through y’all know nothing about. But it’s until we have a real conversation in this country about race. A real one, not the one they call on ESPN was really big. I mean, a real one, but real people will never be fixed. Man.
Brian Vaughn 1:14:22
He is so true. That is so true. Look where I’m at. I’m down here in Charleston, South Carolina, to Charleston, nine. I said, I’m worried even more work at until that we have a real conversation just like Lauren said. It’s going to keep on happening. Because I know I gotta go ahead and do diversity training where I work at, I don’t want to read off no script. I’m gonna go ahead and give them real life scenarios. And I always tell my boss, I’m like, I’m not gonna go ahead and look at some PowerPoint presentation and go ahead and give my class that way. I said, I can’t do it that well. This is what you get. No, I don’t Go ahead and tell that person straight up as you’ve just like me been in the military 23 years. Yeah, I said, I have racial issues when I first came into the Marine Corps. Same exact way. I know where we grew up that we didn’t have it, you know, going on, but down here, especially being in the south, and I’m a little northern girl, I see it. And even with the police officer down here, the one that shot the guy and the guy was running away. It happens and until we have those conversations, that’s gonna go ahead and hit home. Instead of something looking at a video, people are not going to go ahead and get that point across, they’re not going to go ahead and understand. You
Byron Jones 1:15:44
need to give a shout out to somebody that the best diversity guy, unbiased crime guy I’ve ever seen was Dave D’Amico, he worked for a prosecutor’s office and mamak County. He’s with the middle. I think the Middlesex department practice now. He is the best instructor as far as any of that stuff is concerned that I’ve ever seen it I’ve ever been around. Dave the Mika Devika.
Victor Arocho 1:16:08
I never know. We’re gonna start wrapping this up. But I just want to bring this up. And I’m gonna bring it back to sports and it’s gonna be about Jim Brown. Like I had told you, Brian, the first time Byron, either coming from my hometown, you know, bless, good, bad or ugly of how well or not The town was, but we were blessed to be early not see that. I mean, we had our challenges and so forth. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like there was zero racism there. But it wasn’t something that was I don’t think vicious, right. And I didn’t really start noticing really later in my life about how bad it is. Because think about it. I moved from New Jersey come from Perth Amboy. You know, up in East Orange over there was there was lots of divide there. But you know, what the cause for years played football. Sorry, it was fine. Perth living in Perth Amboy Everything is fine. And then I moved to Florida, where it’s all lat. So it’s almost like I was in, I’ve heard it because, you know, I could pass for many things, right? So I hear what they people say. Right, which sometimes is even worse, but I didn’t experience it until I was in St. Petersburg with when there was eight of us. And I was me. And seven of us. of our friends really, I was with three of my high school friends and for their their friends for like Superbowl weekend. And they were all African American except for me. And, and they were all pretty big guys. I mean, like, you know, if we walk into a place and there’s eight of us, you know, we can do damage. I mean, these are not, you know, fragile for jewelry. Guys. These are tough dudes. Does that make sense? Okay, let me tell you we got in a car. They were like, Okay, come on, be weak. I don’t want to get put in. Like, I felt that sense of fear. I’ve never felt that in my life. Ever. Never felt that in my life. I’m like, What is going on? And that was my first experience of really feeling that because I was you know me, I’m a little cocky. You know? What’s your badge number, which I mean, I’ve had it I would police officers. But when I was in that car, I felt bad. I was like, Wow, man. What, what’s going on? Then I teased them. I go, dude, then why are you putting me in the middle in the backseat? Put me in the front. But anyways, and then the last piece I want to say on the sports side, Jim Brown. They were they were putting there’s a movie about a night in Miami. The movie coming out. It’s talking about Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali. And James Brown right
Unknown Speaker 1:19:09
now. Sam Cooke.
Victor Arocho 1:19:11
Oh, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown. All right. So it’s
Byron Jones 1:19:14
Sam Brown, Sam Cooke,
Victor Arocho 1:19:16
Muhammad Ali, and Malcolm X. Malcolm X. Yes. Okay. Um, and but Jim Brown. I’m telling you, it’s just four or five years ago, and he’s told every athlete he has not made close to the money those guys have made. And, you know, we’re talking about diversity. We know that’s a major problem in this country. Right. But Jim Brown, he goes into those cities, man, he goes into the inner cities. He goes into the gangs, he goes in. He’s trying to really make a difference there. And the funny part was, he called out Shaq. He called out Barkley out all those guys. And he’s like, Look, you guys are saying this great guy, but they need to see you because they don’t see You, right? They don’t they will see you being involved in so frequently. He didn’t say like that. But he asked them, that was the best experience that I seen. And Jim Brown’s quiet. You know, he don’t you know, he’s not, you know, he’s quiet, but he’s so effective. He’s done so much for her inner city. gangs and minorities. I just I got nothing but the ultimate respect for Jim Brown.
Byron Jones 1:20:25
Well, he used to come to our jail. He’s the program mayor. I can he used to have that? Yeah, he used to come to our jail because we have one of our programs there.
Victor Arocho 1:20:34
I know, I know. You’re a big guy. So it’s kind of hard. But how big is the universe?
Byron Jones 1:20:40
Big. Do you think it was like it? I think it was like in his 60s, probably when he came around. He’s like at his 80s now, and I’m saying look, I was like, No, he was bigger than everybody else. He was big. You said he was like six to about 230. When he played he was all six till he was even bigger. I thought he built a dam. He played fullback halfback. But when he ran up another field way back, yeah, he was no joke. He was a beast. He figures a great cross player and
Victor Arocho 1:21:08
football player. Yeah. And remands Look at his age, right? We all shrink your age. He kind of figured it was big. I never met him. But But I got nothing but love and respect for Jim Brown. If you go read his body of work, what he’s done. I think he’s done more than any athlete has ever done. Except for maybe Muhammad Ali. Yeah.
Byron Jones 1:21:32
Oh, mama. I’ll be in
Victor Arocho 1:21:35
phases. I’m trying to wait to see what.
Brian Vaughn 1:21:37
No, I was just really just trying to see how old he is. A 466 to 232.
Byron Jones 1:21:47
That was that was my father’s favorite player that loves
Unknown Speaker 1:21:52
talking about his involvement.
Victor Arocho 1:21:57
In this talk about his volunteerism and stuff, he does,
Unknown Speaker 1:22:00
like probably American.
Brian Vaughn 1:22:02
Yeah, no, I don’t see it on here on this one.
Unknown Speaker 1:22:07
For that guy looks phenomenal.
Brian Vaughn 1:22:09
Yep. At four VA at least
Unknown Speaker 1:22:10
the last time I saw him, he looked
Brian Vaughn 1:22:13
at five next month. Wow. Okay.
Victor Arocho 1:22:17
He looks great. 485. God bless me live long and his legacy later on. But I think he’s someone that needs to have a he belongs in that group. I don’t know much about Sam Cooke. But he does belong in that group. You know, I’m a big Malcolm X fan, because what they loved about Malcolm X, and we’re getting off a bunch of this stuff was he was so focused on education, like almost every one of his kids or doctors. Right. He wanted to do to, you know, be the majority of a minority educated. Right. I think that was a great message to send out. Alrighty, so we’re about to wrap this up. was good show we’re looking forward to so so Wait, is that we hit our picks. You picked Tampa, right? By you pick the chiefs. Cheese, and I’m picking a Tampa and I’m making the Chiefs as well. Vonda,
Brian Vaughn 1:23:15
same thing.
Victor Arocho 1:23:16
Do the same thing. Okay. Yes. All right. We picked all those he talked about that. NBA next week. Hopefully we should be having my my one of my former players who’s playing professional overseas, looking forward to having him talk about a little bit about the basketball. And I want to just say hey, on Mondays we got the Tyler Turner’s show at 10pm on the same channel. On Tuesdays, we have Riley and constant at 7pm. Check out their shows. And we always like to end with this phrase from Gary Sinise. freedom and security are precious gifts that we as Americans should never take for granted. We must do all we can do to extend our hand in times of need to those who are willing to sacrifice each day to prevent to provide that freedom and security. We while we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more Gary Sinise and again, that’s for our military, that’s for first responders. You know, this is this is an organization that really contributes to helping the well being of our first responders in or in our soldiers. And I think that phrase goes along the way with what’s happening in society, right? We should always be willing to everybody should be willing to pride, freedom and security for every single of Americans. No matter what color or what race is, everyone should be able to stand up for that. So Gary Sinise foundation.org please remember to you can follow us on Twitter at the sports cast dotnet And visit us on our website at the sports cast that net. Join us next Thursday at 8pm or Texas like some of your good friends Byron are texting us with a few things. They brought up some good points. Next Thursday, we’ll have some more special guests. We’ll have some more insights. We’ll know who’s going to the Super Bowl. And I am I’m excited you know we’re talking about I think people need to really take these these moments and and treasure them right because that may have been breezes last game. And you saw him play against great quarterback. You’re going to see Brady play against another great quarterback possibly play against another young incoming a quarterback. So pretty excited about that. And then Byron, you know, I forgot to mention is you know, we’ve been talking a lot about you know, the opportunities for my knee coach minority coaches. But now I got a little bit of a challenge because some of the the head coaches, the minority head coaches that have been hired or on teams I don’t like
Unknown Speaker 1:26:02
what the Jets
Victor Arocho 1:26:05
so I’m like, Okay, I got a problem. I want to see the coach do well, Alicia,
Byron Jones 1:26:13
well, Alicia Urban Meyer down there, which you bought it in Jacksonville.
Victor Arocho 1:26:17
But he’s not a minority coach, but I don’t care about him, but he’s
Unknown Speaker 1:26:24
gotta be mine.
Victor Arocho 1:26:26
I like Urban Meyer because what he’s done and what I heard about him, but he coached at Florida University of Florida and I don’t like University of Florida. Hurricane fan, no fan, so don’t like him there. He went to Ohio State and he got gifted over there. I’m not a big Ohio State fan. Jacksonville Jaguars. I always keep forgetting we have another team in Florida.
Unknown Speaker 1:26:48
A lot of hate going.
Brian Vaughn 1:26:49
Well, we’ll talk about these in next week, however that
I said, well, we’ll go ahead and talk about these next week then about that.
Byron Jones 1:27:02
But this next week,
Victor Arocho 1:27:04
we’re gonna get that going. Okay, well, you guys have a good night. Thanks for cutting off. And it was a pleasure WITH the Joneses. And Mr. Can you show me the hat one more time though. The other one?
Unknown Speaker 1:27:16
Which one?
Byron Jones 1:27:18
Go long.
Unknown Speaker 1:27:21
Stay. kisser No,
Victor Arocho 1:27:24
that’s fine. All right. Have a great weekend and we will talk soon.
