Florida State is set to hire Patrick Surtain as the school’s new secondary coach. He’s an 11-year NFL vet, three-time Pro Bowler and won 3 state titles at American Heritage from 2016-21 in south Florida. He spent last year as a defensive assistant with the Dolphins.
Surtain Sr. was an All-Pro cornerback in the NFL (Miami Dolphins 1998-2004, Kansas City Chiefs 2005-08), he was the head coach at Broward County power American Heritage High School from 2016-2021, and he’s the father of one of the NFL’s top corners, Patrick Surtain II.
I’m able to confirm the ESPN report that FSU is hiring Patrick Surtain Sr. as its next secondary coach.
Surtain Sr. will join the program after the Miami Dolphins’ playoff run concludes, I’m told.https://t.co/IAAgIZ7IyM pic.twitter.com/SsVmkD6sv8
