Byron Jones
freezing and wonderful Philadelphia it is.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, it’s okay. What’s freezing to you?
Byron Jones
32 degrees is free.
Victor Arocho
Well, you know it’s cold here,
Byron Jones
but what’s called 50
Victor Arocho
no 60
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, rub it in a
Unknown Speaker
basket. Look, I got a sweater on.
Unknown Speaker
Oh sweater. Oh, you must go chilly.
Victor Arocho
We love it when it’s like that. You know? I love it. I can wear shorts and a hat and a sweatshirt. I’m good. That’s awful. 30 degrees. Holy smokes. We’re
Byron Jones
taking away your Perth Amboy car.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, well you know what, you guys you guys not only get snow you also get hurricanes now so at least I can get her
Unknown Speaker
to we’ve had earthquakes up itself.
Victor Arocho
Oh man, you’ve had it all. All right, well today in today’s show you obviously we’re gonna want to talk about the giants. We got a lot to talk about. We got some more friends from Perth Amboy, New Jersey that are calling us out to talk about some other teams and we’re more than happy to we just want them to call in and see if they can handle Byron and me as well as Justin he’s the Alabama crew over there. I was on the ham was on his show yesterday. I couldn’t get through we could call ladies and call it a little later on. So we’ve got plus this job. asked one question that was it. I was got. So we’re gonna talk about the giants. We’re gonna talk about the AFC East. We’re gonna talk NFL General, and to some of the topics that come up. We’re gonna go ahead and get into the Raiders. For a good friend of ours mo Bryant probably wanted to, you know, an environment one of the best athletes I’ve seen. Do it all. And we’re gonna talk bucks and cheese. I want to go over the Steelers. We’re also going to be talking about all US Tulsa. So as Sosa wins again. No.
Byron Jones
Well, they haven’t played two weeks. But the last game they had they did win.
Victor Arocho
Oh, yeah. I know that I thought they played I checked on did with this COVID thing. It keeps pushing it out. I can’t tell.
Byron Jones
They had to change like the Cincinnati games that are planning supposedly to play a Navy this weekend. And then they have Cincinnati next week.
Victor Arocho
Alright, so we’re gonna be reviewing over that. So let’s get it. Let’s get into it right now. Let’s make sure we have somebody call in there. All right. So the giants, right. Daniel Jones, he hurts his his hamstring. And I haven’t heard this name in a long time. Colt McCoy. Oh. Well, first of all, it ain’t like Colt. What do you think he’s from? Texas? Yeah, it’s good. Colt McCoy. And you never know me. Look, this kid was good. He was good in college. It’s just you know, kids transition into college out. Look at Alex Smith. Alex Smith took a few years. Remember he was like, I didn’t even know.
Unknown Speaker
He was up for the Heisman. He was the number one pick in the draft that year.
Victor Arocho
Yeah. But he came out of Utah. Remember what Utah was running that? I forgot that coach’s name. Who’s the coach today? Sorry.
Unknown Speaker
My, huh.
Victor Arocho
I think Urban Meyer was Nah, no, I was going to do Sonos dude. I’ll find it out. I’ll make sure I’ll look it up real quick. We he had that running shoot offense. And Utah was I think it was Utah, right. Or Houston? No, it was Utah. Utah, and it took him a few years and then he turned into a pretty good quarterback. I thought he did really well with San Francisco surprised him go and he’s doing okay, where he’s at now. So good for him. So as long as we can Maintain but tough, you know, putting a secondary quarterback in it has you know been a journeyman against Wilson it’s gonna be challenged.
Unknown Speaker
I think
Byron Jones
he might do a good job, you know, so they can keep the running game going. They should be fine. Yep. See ya Seattle’s defense this year has been historically bad for them. I agree. We also have that big giant, wide receiver that outruns everybody Metcalf the other guy is pretty good to lock it. I think his name is the same as the good and then you also have the X Factor which is Russell Wilson.
Victor Arocho
Yeah. But you know, what’s happening the Russell Wilson Russell Wilson with their defense being so there is this like, the every game is on his shoulders, there’s got to be a point where you don’t I mean, it’s like, you know, I think he’s a good enough competitor to go out there. But there’s a point where, you know, every game he’s got to put up all these you know, certain amount of points, but then again it against dies, he doesn’t have to put up a lot of points, you know, but, you know, we need this win, right? We just really do. Or we need this when I if we don’t get the win, which I want to win. I like to see us continue to play well, because seems like we’re advancing each week,
Byron Jones
they have gotten a lot better. Phil, the offensive line has got a lot better the defense is working his miracle. Now that the only thing you know that worried about, I want people to do well, but Patrick Graham is doing a great job with the defense. Now before he got there, he would Miami he’d done a good job there. And the only thing I’m worried about is if he leaves to get a head coaching job next year, which is possible.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, we’ll look at spagnola
Byron Jones
he’s already had a shot. He had a shot, but
Victor Arocho
I don’t want him as a head coach. That was different chord. But hey, listen to the judge firing that offense ally coach worked out. If you’re saying that offensive lines playing better. He knew what he’s doing.
Byron Jones
I think we’ll put what I read, you know that he went over there and I guess he tweaked, you know, the center what he was doing on gates and the big giant and crumbled a big dude. Club was like six eight by 325 he’s big. Ask him, you know, like, you know, what judges doing? I guess he called him like a fancy name and you know, words or whatever. And then instead of him fired him directly, they said that it was just
Unknown Speaker
a consultant.
Byron Jones
Not that the guy was a consultant or one of the guy from New England, but they had the upper management is the one that escorted him out the bill but he didn’t fire him directly. It was you know, upper management her but he did and they got rid of him.
Victor Arocho
Oh, really? So so the office line coach was inappropriate
Byron Jones
support he probably call him some kind of nasty name. You shouldn’t call the head coach and you know, they probably would come the physical but you know, if I, I think I put my money on the big office alignment.
Victor Arocho
Yes. So what I yeah, but the marriage family, they don’t they don’t mess around with that kind of stuff that we’ve never wanted that. You know, I’m pretty happy and proud of some kind of thing. You know, outside of like Jeremy Shockey just doing his stuff. And, you know, LTE was to sell to me was great enough. I don’t remember us ever having like a problem child player? Do you? know not really, if you think about it, like we’ve never had like a problem, you know, at Antonio Brown, you know, just like you just those guys at Terrell Owens you know, those are great guys. Don’t get me wrong, but you know, they were kind of challenges for the teams they were on. So, Dan, how do you hurt a hamstring bro? Like, you know, like, like, I mean, if he was gonna hurt his hamstring, it would have been on that sloppy run where he felt out that I could see okay,
Byron Jones
I never ran that fast. I would know what it’s like to pull your hamstring
Unknown Speaker
in less than 248
Byron Jones
but still I wouldn’t know he
Unknown Speaker
wasn’t running he was throwing
Byron Jones
when he felt when he ran he felt on that side the right side because he grabbed you know, so I don’t know how he got hurt you know when he fell you know on his hamstring up to the same as a hamstring strain or whatever is going on with them. So maybe cuz it’s such a like a finely tuned athlete or whatever. You know, he’s like a racehorse, you know him and
Victor Arocho
Danny Jones he’s a definitely a super athlete as an NFL player, but I don’t think he’s a fine two racers. Now Metcalf you know deshaun Watson and you know, those guys I would say more Supreme. So Colt McCoy, what do you think he’s gonna need to do to to?
Byron Jones
Like they’re gonna have to run the ball with gallman Evan Ingram’s got to pick up his game. Slayton is not going to have to do what he usually does, you know, miss a couple golden Tate is going to do his thing as long as they throw him the ball. But it’s gonna be kind of like people forget this is gonna be for Justin later on that Colt McCoy when I think when Alabama played Oklahoma, they could have beat them that year. But he got blown up in the game early Colt McCoy put up.
Victor Arocho
I thought he went to Texas University.
Byron Jones
I mean, Texas, I think Texas was playing Alabama, whatever that year. He got blown up in the game. And he didn’t finish that game. But then that was the difference when they played them in the championship game.
Victor Arocho
But yeah, right. cobequid got her. He got blown up. He was fired up that he’s lightened up the college, the college circuit back then
Byron Jones
he was in the running for Heisman, he was like, Oh, he was a good quarterback. You know, college has just been around for 10 years now. So he’s hung around and collected you know, million $2 million checks a year for the last 10 years. You know, always hold the you know, the clipboard and now has a chance to put up I hold a quit I’d hold a clipboard for 700,000
Victor Arocho
just don’t put me in. But remember, we had that kind of a second conversation. You know, secondary quarterbacks is probably the best position you could play. Off gorilla this girl’s boy, Eddie got a Super Bowl ring.
Unknown Speaker
Then put on the field. He has
Victor Arocho
to put in a field Exactly. You see
Unknown Speaker
go greasy go.
Victor Arocho
What do you think is going through sake one’s mind right now. He’s got to be excited.
Byron Jones
You probably excited for the future. Your finger has a long road for him as far as being injured to come back and be able to be you know, the same player that he was, at least they allegedly supposed to be talking to Adrian Peterson Peterson, who went through the same thing. So he’s probably you know, giving him your pointers. Or, you know, talking to him like, Hey, don’t don’t rush it. You know, get back there when you’re ready to get back. Don’t look. No, I did. You know, I wanted to start the season. You know, if you got to sit out two or three games, you’ll be getting a year, but you want to be 100% before he stepped foot back out there.
Victor Arocho
That’s awesome. I like Adrian Peterson. He was one of my favorite players. I mean, he’s tough. He’s still running.
Byron Jones
The Detroit Lions that hang in there, get the check. So
Victor Arocho
it’s okay. It’s okay. But I like the agent piece in Seahawks game. Right? That’s going to be we’re playing it’s at Yankee Stadium, is it?
Unknown Speaker
I’m not sure.
Victor Arocho
Okay. I’ll check it out. I think it is a JC. We’re gonna we’re gonna need something there. We’re gonna need some help. So you know, we need to because what happens is, the league is even though it’s so bad, the owner sees it. Every game counts right now. I mean, and that’s normally how we used to be in the NFL, right, but they’ve done a good job of creating parody. But there’s we got extra super parody and MCs. It’s just shitty parody. It’s terrible. Barry. Right? They gotta stop
Byron Jones
Metcalf talking to that the receiver Don’t forget about him who pocket the other receiver on the other
Unknown Speaker
end is
Byron Jones
a Titan, I forgot what the guys make their titles pretty good, too. And Russell Wilson has the four that they got stop. They play well defensively and shut those guys down. Or just one of them, you know, they should they you know, who knows what to happen? Or keep them off the field? Yeah, that would help to ball control.
Victor Arocho
Keep them off the field. You know, try to control the ball, you know, because, you know, you got to figure those guys could put up points, right? So you’re gonna either have to keep them off the field or you’re gonna have to score 24 points or more. Although about a 24 points, but that’s my that’s my point. Right? You either got to decide he’s going to score 24 points, and you can play the game or you’re going to score you know, under 24 points and you’re gonna keep Russell Wilson and that crew off the field.
Byron Jones
I think they’re going to do a lot of running. A lot of running a lot of running. Do a lot of rollouts for Colt McCoy not I put him in harm’s way because he doesn’t look like he’s that tall at all. And you know where he’s rolling out where he can see you know, sideline pass sideline pass you know to tighten down the middle and just like easy simple stuff nothing crazy and you know every now and then take a shot over the top with sleep
Victor Arocho
yeah and this and Ingram just that’s life for him to be more consistent right? That I went to the ball I’m trying to see his if they got his high sturdy for it Don’t say anything about his height. Let’s see. They still have mana Redskins in six one so measly six foot? Yeah. He’s kind of tiny. I don’t think it would be a tiny.
Unknown Speaker
Not a big guy at all.
Victor Arocho
No, no, no. All right. Well, let’s get on to it. Let’s go to the AFC. AFC FCS is uh, let me say that buffalo team was good. Division aloof.
Byron Jones
All right. five teams in NFL. They’re good, y’all The quarterbacks good the defense is good, you know, they got the digs the kid they got from Minnesota Vikings the receiver, so they’re they’re, they’re grounded in a lot faster than I thought they were not bad at all
Victor Arocho
right? Well, you got to give Miami some credit to I mean, Fitzpatrick came in and lit it up. It’s a good good way to come back in right?
Byron Jones
That’s because um what’s his name to his little fragile he again, these are the guy
Unknown Speaker
he would go or something
Byron Jones
back hurts as I know he’s got a copy be going through that they better always have a good backup quarterback, because he’s gonna be a great player. But you only have to worry about him because of his size.
Victor Arocho
Well, we got to bring it when hopefully Jensen calls and we got it because that’s why I called him to the show. Right? I want to ask him about what do you think about Jalen hertz get yanked like that? Well, we’ll get into that right now. Now you got jets jets still just figuring out ways to lose? You know, I thought they were gonna have a chance at least to win. And they lost and I think Ritchie still hiding from us but you know, AFC East you got you got the dolphins still got a shot. Dolphins can make a wild card. Right? And it would be nice for them to get there. And then to let’s see what happens you know, Brian Flores is doing a great job with their defense. And, and but I just think that the bills, you know, they’re gonna they’re gonna win that division. And it’s just a matter of how far if Miami makes it as a as a wildcard team.
Byron Jones
Let’s don’t, let’s don’t forget about the pages the other day, that awful game that they played and still want the Jets. Oh, man, they are horrible. So there wasn’t a mom. He had at 84 yards passing or whatever, you had Cam Newton. And when he got lit up, or when they played, they played the Cardinals the other day, and we got lit up going to the sidelines trying to get out when he ran for the 13 yards in the first hour. He got lit up by Isaiah Simmons and Clemson get off but then you know he got up and you know they kicked the winning field goal and you know presented but they’re, they’re a match to they’re not.
Victor Arocho
I didn’t want them to beat Tyler Murray though. That’s like a wasted win now in a bad loss for him.
Byron Jones
But they didn’t play well at all either, though. They were no but people keep forgetting you know, you got Bella check is like the defensive guru, he’ll find a way to slow down somebody or stop if he’s done it for 2030 years, or however long he’s been a head coach. I the way to stop that. That guy on the other group.
Victor Arocho
He did. Murray’s doing a lot better than I thought he would do. I mean, he’s actually impressed me in visibility to throw on the run his ability to dodge avoid getting tackled, he’s thrown the ball out of bounds now. I mean, you know, he’s actually and I wanted him to do well, but I think he’s doing a lot better than I was expecting.
Byron Jones
Got a great arm. He’s a great athlete. You know, you think the number one pick in baseball and football. So he’s obviously a great athlete. You know, again, well thought out to get he’s probably like five foot seven. So they really can’t see him, you know, run around behind the big giant line. And so yeah, that that probably helps a lot.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, well, it was We’ll see. We’ll go from there. You know, uh, but so the bucks and the Chiefs What did you think about that
Byron Jones
game? judges are wonderful coach said that. Brady has problems throwing the D pass and outside numbers. And so far, I think he’s been right. He’s had you know, he’s had probably, you know, he’s got Godwin, the receiver. He’s got Evans. He’s got koski is the only one that he really throws too deep down the middle bats have seen pattern so you know, he’ll complete that. But anything deep to Evans is it’s been a it’s been an issue this year.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Lisa thrown some good deep balls, right. To be able to bring him in that. What’s his name? Evans got a nice ball. A couple times they lost. But But you know, it was funny. They were getting beat pretty bad early. Right. And then I tweeted out, you know, is because their defense is pretty good. Right? So this is probably great question for you from a defensive perspective. You know how this they’re saying, you know, it was that was good in basketball. They usually say it a lot. Good defense, better offense. Right. You got your hand and you play basketball. You do everything you can you got a guy hand up hand in his face, you do anything and he still makes it was great defense. This better off That’s right. Okay. So you know, I was wondering it is Kansas City’s office just that good or was is is defense defense not as good as they think they are.
Byron Jones
It’s a combination of both they do they have no jpp you got so so they have that linebacker, I can’t think a guy’s name. That’s pretty good for them the Bucks though they got a lot of guys a rush the passer they got a suit is still scaring the daylights out of people, you know, the way he’s been for the last 10 years, the jpp is still playing at a high level. It’s just that Kansas City’s office is that good. They’re gonna score against anybody that their problem is going to be, you know, we’ll probably talk about the Lakers when they play a Pittsburgh that does have a really good defense. That’s where you know, I mean, like, even from the back end to the linebackers to the guys rushing. So that’s where they’re gonna have an issue and you’re they meet up with them on the playoffs. That’s gonna be that’s gonna be the probably the game of the year.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, speaking of jpp he cost him that game. I mean, because they had them. They were gonna have to punt. And then when they got the helmet hit to the helmet. I was that was it, man. They did.
Byron Jones
That’s kind of that’s a little ticky tacky. Now that
Victor Arocho
you’re not allowed to hit him with the quarterback in the helmet. You know that? Yeah, I don’t hit him in the helmet at the worst time was like 3010 3015. It was ridiculous. And I wanted a good game. Don’t get me wrong, and I’m rooting for Brady. But also, you got to give Brady credit. And team credit because you know, that went from a blowout to three point gain. And if it wasn’t for those penalties, they were in the game. They could have won that game.
Byron Jones
I think the three point loss. Yeah, but I think the Chiefs let you know, took their foot off the pedal a little bit. Now. I think
Victor Arocho
they did, because i can’t i don’t i don’t think it’s in Andy Reid, or Patrick mahomes.
Byron Jones
Yes, he did that when he was at the Philadelphia Eagles playing a time where they were not out of somebody and he will just I will let me know getting he’ll start getting to next. You know, the other team up there catching up all of a sudden that Oh, there we go.
Victor Arocho
It didn’t work out too good for him there. So he’s got a shout out. I don’t think you should ever let him pebble is one thing I used to love about. Jimmie Johnson. vc 3030 of the Miami Heat. I mean, Miami on the Miami Hurricanes is have you ever ever seen that? It’s phenomenal. And they were I guess Jimmie Johnson was playing Notre Dame and it was like the Notre Dame’s coach was retiring or something like that. And he chose beat up like 70 he was bored and I and he was and they said to him, they go, you know, don’t you to kind of feel a little bit bad because why do I feel bad? It goes in my team play. We came to play. We don’t you know, we just came in play. I can’t if they play poorly. That’s not my problem. Right. And he put up the points because I had other plays in it, but he put up the points. Steve Spurrier was the same way. I’ll put up 6070 points. And then some of the spurious logic was What’s that? Was it a Spurrier fan until he went to South Carolina. But what I started appreciate about Spurrier and I understand about the college coaches that did that, I don’t know what your thoughts are, right was when they played a team, they wanted to beat him. So it when the opportunity struck, they wanted to beat him so bad to create fear. Every time that team play.
Byron Jones
Ancient History also got beat one time they played a university used, I think, like 1969 100 to six before the game a lot, I think, I don’t know guys, but yeah, 106 a lot of their guys got like food poisoning or something. Some of them like a lot of them got sick. So the head coach from Tulsa, went to the head coach, a lot of my guys are saying, you know, blah, blah, blah, you know, can you you know, not Do you know, I do I said 106 he did a mat you have a lot of coaches, you know, the reason is that at all stop us. Yeah, I’ll put my third screen cars in if you can’t stop them. I’ll put my cursor off. I said if you can’t stop them, then you have issues so
Victor Arocho
I’m not gonna Yeah, I don’t that’s different. I wouldn’t know but i do Spurrier was because, you know, back then it was a little bit different. Now you got great, you know, the schools are great. They’re playing, you know, your play, especially in the sec, right? He needed he wanted his he wanted teams to fear him. Right. But he feared more hurricanes during that time. I he didn’t want to play. He didn’t want to play Miami because it was a contract. And what it did was try to strike a deal to play the hurricanes. But it was like 70% of the games. Were going to be played in Gainesville over Miami, Miami. There’s no way I’m gonna play that way. So But anyhow, that was that was What I saw there, and that the other thing is I just thought it was a great game, you know, speed, but uh i thought it was a great game. I was happy on either side, right? I like I like both of them. And I’m just rooting for Brady, because I kind of like I always tell you, we always talk about how people decide where they want to pick sports as a business or sport, right. And when you see an athlete that walks away from a dynasty, he was part of it, and pretty much built, right, and then goes to another team. And his people are going there to play with him. And he and he’s got a shot to still make the playoffs. Especially we don’t know what drew brees, whether he’s gonna continue or he may just retire I understand. I kind of enjoy it. I just want to seem to play better. And then you know, this, I don’t know if arion if it’s ariens on offense or Brady’s off, you know, or Brady but everything I’m hearing is the numbers of like motion that Brady’s used to do. It is like 16% compared of him doing it 67% of the time. You know,
Byron Jones
like what Bruce Arians look at every every place he’s been. He goes deep with him. He had Andrew Luck throwing the young man, but he had a man throw a deep Ben Roethlisberger. Go deep. Brady’s not that kind of quarterback where he can throw like those guys, those guys 16 seven, even your pain, you know, he had young pain he didn’t have you know, the old broke down neck issues that he had young Peyton and look what he did with those three. It’s just a pain. You know, Brady’s a different kind of quarterback? He’s not like those three yet. greatest of all time as far as quarterbacks? Yes. But it’s just that he? No, he’s just not the same as those three guys
Victor Arocho
there but they’re also not running the ball at all. This is the most Brady’s ever thrown.
Unknown Speaker
And that’s a big issue.
Victor Arocho
And a problem I suffer in Britain. It’s not Brady. That’s a problem. And I’m not giving Brady passes because I’m think I’ve seen him throw some bad stuff. But I’ve also seen the the receivers, just doing really, really bad stuff. I mean, if the guy’s blitzing right in front of you, like is that there’s a linebacker, I’m lined up as a receiver. Right. And I hike, I start running that linebacker flies in, you’re taught, Turn, Turn around, turn around. Now you’re in an open spot. That guy just gave me an open spot. And your quarterback is he’s coming right after your quarterback. And you saw Brady threw it in the back. You know, it’s those kind of things that kind of it’s frustrating from what I see. And again, mahomes is just he’s still incredible. The one thing that I do notice about him, and I think that also helps him, he sent me or he drops back deep. He like real deep. I mean, it’s one thing there’s a normal 17 it was at seven feet, seven yards, seven yards, right? seven yards, and then I think he goes back like another seven.
Byron Jones
I guess he trusts his arm that he’s going to get it, you know where he needs to get it? That’s what it probably is that why he goes back so far. But then, you know, he just needs a special talent. That’s just for you to say about it.
Victor Arocho
Well, I think that that if you agree with that, then I’m seeing the right thing. I think it’s a couple pieces. One, I think he’s got the arm to be able to do that. But I think it also gives him time to make a decision. Because the farther back he’s away from describing a scrimmage, right, the more he has space to run towards the line of scrimmage. Right, that first statement. Okay, and if that’s true, and he’s kind of, you know, slippery, and he’s got a strong arm, it’s he’s given himself extra time for his receivers, like, like Kelsey Kelsey, right? Like Kelsey. targets, forget about tyreke, Hill tyreke. Hill, those guys to start adjusting, because they know he’s got time to get to the scrimmage. Like he can make a play hat. Right? It’s just that every time I see him, and I’m like wanting to get him go get him. He trusts so far back. Does all
Byron Jones
those guys they probably know some places they usually tell him like when a quarterback starts running around, you know, run back toward a quarterback. Show them your numbers, you know, so you can see, but they probably have some different like, you know what, I can throw the ball 78 yards in the air. So you know what, when I start running around like that just take off and go deep. And I could see that happening. Especially with tyreke Hill. I could see him just idling around now let me run 70 yards the other way and a lot of times he hits him. Yeah,
Victor Arocho
I think Yeah, but then I think they got it down. I think what happens is that when he’s in trouble right the pending Tyree kill either go D Diddy cuz Kelsey not going deep so he’s got, you know, he’s got like three levels of options when he’s in trouble right because it kills it’s gonna fly, right? To make it it’s very kill other than Deion Sanders because I think Deion Sanders would have been a good match who can cover this guy
Byron Jones
well if he was playing back in the 70s
Unknown Speaker
no I’m talking about net
Unknown Speaker
down now. Well sada Sanders
Victor Arocho
I’ll probably it sounds it’s not now but Deion Sanders ran for two
Byron Jones
I think all those big like Mel blonde I think could have done something better because it he probably wouldn’t have got off the Line
Unknown Speaker
rope.
Byron Jones
Lester hazy to be stuck to him like glue.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, but less that stick them back then.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, Michael Haynes.
Victor Arocho
The other corner for that was my favorite defensive backfield, man. He goes, what what is the white guy’s name was the only white guy. He was awesome. He was the free safety thing.
Byron Jones
JACK Tatum, George Atkinson.
Victor Arocho
I forgot. I find I’ll look him up. But it was Hanes it was Lester Hayes. Mike Hayes. too, I’m telling you is the four I got to post it before. So they go mo that’s for the Raiders out there for Yo, someone’s coming in. Let’s see what we got. my mouse on that’s um, come on. Let me in.
Justin Riley
Oh, my God. You go.
Victor Arocho
There we go. Hello. Welcome to the Jones and a roadshow show. Who do we have the pleasure of speaking with
Justin Riley
your favorite color? Justin Riley.
Victor Arocho
Justin Riley. Oh, I don’t know. Byron Should I put him on hold the weight from it?
Justin Riley
man. Man,
Victor Arocho
those Alabama boys were just going they didn’t even give me a chance. By was that you said you were for Justin here.
Unknown Speaker
Baltimore Ravens?
Victor Arocho
Why is it? Oh, yeah, that’s right. He’s a raider fan. That’s right. It’s right. How you doing? Justin? Got a good show the other day. I’m doing all right, man. Yeah, had a great show the other day. A lot of fun. We got some good content content in there. But mainly a bunch of craziness. But hey, we got a great mix of both. It was funny. I was laughing It was good. You had a good guest and so forth. What we were talking about now he’s like he’s put his bags giant head on. So once you think what you think of the we were just talking about, I don’t know what you if you got a question. Or you only ask the question, you tell me how you want to go?
Justin Riley
Well, you just mentioned the Ravens man. You know, first of all, I gotta give my hat’s off to them right now. with countless people out, they still manage to be in position to beat the Steelers, which is no easy task. and not others. I said that they still they were in position to still beat the Steelers. But if not for an ill advised throw by RG three there that which led to a score. Now when we had a chance, but you know, because with all the things considered, we still perform well. But in the NFL, there are no more of a moral victory, especially right now for the for the Ravens who are struggling right now. And, you know, it’s just it’s gonna be an uphill battle.
Victor Arocho
Let’s take that. I think for me, and I’m just of the opinion that you know, the league is justing to Lamar Jackson. So if he doesn’t start really, you know, playing that pocket quarterback and then utilizing his pieces, is this athleticism. I just think, you know, there’s other, you have other challenges that you have other pieces of challenges you have to do there. Because, you know, back to dishon Watson, I said it before, I mean that that guy was always impressed and look, he started to turn that back around. I think Lamar Jackson is great. Also, we may have the curse of the matted cover. Good, right Isn’t he on this year’s cover?
Justin Riley
Yeah, that’s right. He was I’ll get to that one thing you know, against the Ravens you know, having class Campbell out and Brandon Williams out that does not help things up front does not help paint the fence but the biggest glaring thing right now, like you said is Lamar Jackson. Lee is adjusting to what his abilities and unless He opens his game up and begins to develop as a passer. That office is going to be shut down or be neutralized, you know, not take anything away from Lamar Jackson as an athlete. He’s phenomenal.
Victor Arocho
I mean, he was last year at that position Yeah,
Justin Riley
he was MVP last year for a reason but you’ve been NFL you’ve got to be well rounded me you can get away with doing some things for a couple years, man and by year three, like you said defenses adjust and this you’re one dimensional you’ll get exposed and people like to argue that well he doesn’t have receivers he’s got receivers you know he just not getting the ball up to them
Unknown Speaker
by everyone he said
Byron Jones
no, I agree with what Justin just said you know they have no they got was a brown they got great, you know, two good tight ends or one. Andrews know that he has the people around as just like you said, you know, they’ve caught up 10 they caught up to him and then he has that funky sentence before that funky throwing motion that he has that you know a lot of his passes probably go by feet off the ground a lot of getting knocked down or the lemonade stands and all kind of crazy but it needs to work on your foot know his footwork and know maybe work on that that throwing motion that he has.
Victor Arocho
Well, you know, what’s weird is you know that the NFL is a copycat league. Right? So so nobody ran the Wildcat until the dolphins now the Wildcat they ran it more and it’s now part of the arsenal of an offensive teams ski fanfare same Yeah. Okay. So yes, the what I’m looking at is, is that Lamar Jackson is a better athlete than Patrick mahomes. Not a better quarterback but a better athlete. Right? I’ll give you that. Okay. That, why wouldn’t they just try to look to copy some of you know, the play calling or, or something to that degree, you know, the copy everything, then why wouldn’t you say, Hey, you got a guy that can run. That kid is shifty, that can throw because Lamar Jackson can throw. But why don’t they try to put in some type of mix that is working for, for Patrick mahomes. And before you say some, the last thing I want to say so Justin, here is we were just talking about like the home strikes back I had asked by receiving your thoughts to make sure I wasn’t saying things. He seems like when he gets the ball, he drives back even another seven more yards. I think that’s to his event.
Justin Riley
Absolutely more Jackson? No, I don’t, I don’t think he can I don’t think he trusts himself to do it. If you one thing, I don’t know if you guys have noticed this. But if Mark Ingram is not a heart a large part of that offense, if he’s not healthy, that often suffers. And so those Lamar Jackson lamora does not have the confidence to leave that team by himself. And if we start to get down, he’s not one of those guys who can pick the team up on his shoulders, like an Elway or Marino and live in the come behind victory. I don’t know if you notice that or it’s just me. But those are two things that are glaring to me that Mark Ingram is not healthy, which he has not been that often tend to struggle with Lamar by himself. And then two, like I said, He’s not a leader. And, and in terms of being bringing a team back against diversity. What do you think?
Byron Jones
Well, no, we’ve talked about this before, it’s a copycat League, you know, everybody’s no caught up to him. If he doesn’t have that threat, which is, you know, like Justin said, is Mark Ingram, you know, that he’s gonna either get or not get the ball, because now it’s at a point where, you know, they want to RPO You know, they’re running, you know, their, their version of never run and go to hand off the Ingram and then it hit pulls, it pulls divas events, you know, when fingers are gonna crash down, they’re gonna crash down to get Ingram. Now, most of you know, and I know I was talking with you when I played that, you know, don’t create your crash down. But if you know you have a quarterback to go run, you’re gonna sit there you’re gonna watch it, watch the ball go in, you’re gonna watch it, watch it, you might take two steps over there, to the right or left depending on where it is. But you’re going to stay right there. And I’m looking right at the quarterback. And that’s my guy.
Victor Arocho
You know, I it’s again and then and then I realized that you know, the the curse of the bad cover curse, like stopped for a few years. Right. And, and then it happened to hit Lamar Jackson this year. I just thought that, you know, because it was for a long time, everybody. No one wanted to be on the cover of that. I mean, they were proud that they were but they were like scared. Second day, Ron guys were getting hurt. And maybe that’s what’s happened to him. So what do you think about the bucks and the Chiefs game?
Justin Riley
Man mahomes and mahomes just a heads and tails above everybody else just absolutely amazing. And then, of course, their wide receiver, I just forgot his name just Yeah, tyreke Hill. I mean, dude is just a video game. Now, Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay does show some resolve and make things close? I don’t think they I don’t think Tampa Bay has what it takes to be elite. I think people are sorry about the noise in the background there. I think people are trying to base their expectations on a younger Brady when the actuality is not young anymore, and he’s not playing to the same level that we’re accustomed.
Victor Arocho
Right. Um, yeah, but I think yeah, I mean, first of all, Patrick mahomes mean, but look, but you still got to give between the two of them they put up over 800 yards passing? We can’t take it.
Justin Riley
No, not at all. No,
Victor Arocho
he held them. Right. Dude, couple of stupid interceptions. Right. He was he was also getting hit. Oh, well, that was that’s what I was noticing. That’s when I really noticed the drop back. Right? Because you see how far mahomes goes back and Brady goes back a step or two. Now the different sizes, different heights and so forth. It’s just that you know, they both threw for four yards. I’m just, you know, Brady’s gonna be there for another year. It’s gonna take him a little bit of time. gronk had over 100 yards. Right? But Tyree kill What do you have 200 something yards in the first half. Not at all. In total, or the first half? Total six total yet? 100. Almost 200 in the first they sort of down the second half. They say yeah, something happened but that you know, I can’t imagine you not thinking the ball was not gonna go to Tyree kill for the first time. The problem is I just don’t think he’d come. I don’t know how to come. He’s not big and he’s lightning quick. And catches. I know guys. We played with it, you know, had lightning speed and they couldn’t catch a cold You know? And they got far. You know, they were fighting. It was coming players, you know, play with me. They got farther than I did. And it was purely because of speed. But did it work? No, I did. I took the guy’s position as a punt returner. Alright, let’s go. I want to talk about the Raider. Well, you ain’t got something
Byron Jones
here. Since Justin’s the Alabama expert. The year Colt McCoy played you guys. National Championship game. Right. Then they click on that was a year that I think Colt McCoy was like in a running for the highest. No. I mean, he was like, he was one of the top players in America. And I think he got blown up.
Justin Riley
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we took him out of the game early.
Unknown Speaker
We’re talking about
Justin Riley
Yeah. Yeah, he went out in the first. Yeah, he went out. And the first half. Marcel derrius, just popped in. And he couldn’t pick up his arm after that had to come out for the rest of the game. But yeah, I remember that very well.
Unknown Speaker
Do you think we’ve made a difference to play the whole game?
Justin Riley
Well, absolutely. I mean, I call McCoy in college is probably one of the best call college quarterbacks in the country if not the best. And ma he was a difference maker. So yeah, I think the game would have been a lot closer. But I think Alabama would eventually have won, but I think it would have been a really tough contest for us. But yeah, haven’t count Colt McCoy makes a huge difference.
Victor Arocho
I don’t even know using the league still. He’s still hanging in there.
Justin Riley
Yeah, he still he still Yeah, He’s good. He’s got that check.
Victor Arocho
Amen. You’re talking about that as a backup. The second string quarterback says best position and play because you’re gonna get paid dollars as a quarterback. And you’re gonna be able to walk later line long in life.
Justin Riley
Yeah, absolutely. Right. And you’ll be walking to the bank. I mean,
Victor Arocho
so I mean, that’s just, that’s interesting, but I want to talk Oh, those they get I got my list here. So right now I just want to go to Raiders. This for a good friend of ours. They called me the other night Justin Byron. I know both played with him. His name is mo Brian, phenomenal athlete and in every sport, I mean, but Mo’s what like five nine and 360 dunk a basketball.
Justin Riley
Good grace. Ha,
Victor Arocho
that’s that’s not fair. I mean, you know, I’m six foot No, it’s not a basketball. But he’s a big Raider fan so he yelled at me he says you by revisit stop talking about giants. Put some Raiders on I’m gonna come on that show and then oh Byron he was having like a birthday boy pants are talk he wants to top the top 79 best athletes out of Perth Damn. Like, I go look, I’m all the way on the bottom so I know buyers there you go remember don’t forget Taylor brothers.
Byron Jones
Brothers and Penny feathers and Penny feathers.
Unknown Speaker
swindells
Unknown Speaker
Jason newskin went to Notre Dame so we Yeah, big
Victor Arocho
day. Yeah, there’s Mark hawrelak played at Clemson a year, Lansing he got a scholarship concert.
Byron Jones
wacaco went to Pittsburgh.
Victor Arocho
So we’ve had our Oh, Justin, let me tell you about the young. Right. So so let me tell you about this guy. ballpark. This guy was huge in high school. Right? He was so big that back in our high school we were you know, like a prominent prominent football team and our weight room was nothing compared to what it should have been right. We had right those racks right. Whatever that rack rack right. And these guys by that day, so this guy was so big and strong that they ended up getting to sewer caps, right, Byron they were big sewer caps, drilled holes enough to put them on a bench bar, so we can start working out.
Byron Jones
The crazy thing is he played one year, he only played one year football. He was a bodybuilder won. And I mean one year he played his senior year pit song and that was it. He went there to defend the tackle and another plan off of the guard or something but he played with them around. But uh, he was I had to block him I was he was a beast man I hated going to practice with the guy had him. They were awful. Want to beat your brains?
Victor Arocho
Yeah, yeah. me you know when you see mark you don’t he doesn’t look it.
Byron Jones
Really. In high school. He was all he was all stayed here before I was I was he was 79 I was 85 to 80 and Mark was a player marker relic wahaca that we have some guys met but
Victor Arocho
you know, because I see Mark he just looks like I still couldn’t imagine him because I didn’t see him. And he so he was that well, huh. He played that. Well.
Unknown Speaker
He played confident but the clients
Victor Arocho
know that I know that but was he big?
Byron Jones
It was like 640 about 250 when he’s like 242 50
Victor Arocho
and I didn’t realize he was that tall so anything I just said it was just how funny was the drill holes in a into sewer caps that were like each of them was like what 180 pounds
Unknown Speaker
bigger and stronger.
Justin Riley
Yeah, get it in somehow man. Exactly.
Victor Arocho
So so it’s back to my buddy by a low right he’s probably hiding from us right now cuz they just got beat this weekend by the Falcons.
Justin Riley
Yeah, and it was a foul and it might just be three to six he dallying
Unknown Speaker
Oh,
Justin Riley
wait the Falcons the Falcons took their manhood what Come on the Falcons
Unknown Speaker
three points without
Justin Riley
without Julio Jones.
Unknown Speaker
Sure did.
Justin Riley
Calvin really did Calvin Ridley didn’t even have that big of a game so Good grief.
Unknown Speaker
You got a stole so
Victor Arocho
well, I you know, I feel bad for the Jets cuz jets are gonna take the brunt of that loss. Because they played the Jets next week or this Sunday.
Unknown Speaker
Morris is doing well.
Justin Riley
And I think that that would be the best. The best fit for the Falcons. That’d be stupid to look at anyone else. I mean, unless they will look at the enemy. But still I mean, Raheem Morris, that’s the dude for the Falcons. Oh,
Victor Arocho
no. They so you know, I like Jon Gruden. I thought they were having a good year but they get beat down. You know mo he got beat. Just think about this. They lost it achieve 35 to 31 and then lose 43 to six against the Falcons. The Falcons how does that How is it? It’s just you don’t get up for that. Yeah, we’re up for the chiefs. I mean, what happens by I mean this does that really happen? That guy’s just taking you know you’re playing against other millionaire players. It’s not like you’re playing against some pop board guys. How do you that you get it’s every given Sunday, you know that?
Byron Jones
Well then any given Sunday Guess they must have forgot about that bar because they definitely didn’t come to play in 43 states that that was awful. You know? It’s all you if you have a little like it’s a little here. It’s a heart. It’s a little here, a little pie. I’m not gonna go up there and get beat 46 to three, I’d rather get thrown out of the game, then go ahead, get out do something I would do to get thrown out the game, so I wouldn’t have to be out there for that.
Victor Arocho
I didn’t get beat. Yeah, man. I was so mad, bro.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, by are you killing the
Byron Jones
face of this stuff? I’d done something stupid.
Victor Arocho
Eyes. Let’s move on. To the Steelers. Right? again. You know, I’m Big Mike Tomlin fan. You know, there was two sides. And you’re talking about Justin, you on the Baltimore side. You know, someone was a talent did not like that win at all. Right? He, he, he he went after every unit in that team. By right, he went after specialty. He went after offense. He went out to the defense. He was super upset. Right?
Unknown Speaker
what they did?
Victor Arocho
I’m sorry.
Unknown Speaker
like better?
Victor Arocho
And then so then adjusted, I’ll let you go off to this. And then the other side. Now was set, which I thought was a great point. Because think about it. They played terrible, every unit they had it still pulled out. It’s still got to tell you that’s a good.
Unknown Speaker
Yes, it is. Just
Justin Riley
sometimes, you know, you’d have to win ugly and you’re gonna have games like that. And you know, it’s your rival. So even though Baltimore was riddled with injuries and people out there the COVID and whatnot. Yeah, they weren’t just going to show up and lay down so they had fight. No, I mean, I mean, that’s just that’s what you do get your rival but you know, you know, Tom is right. I mean, yeah, they’re undefeated. Look, they’re looking great, but he’s looking at, he’s looking at from the standpoint of, we can do so much more in order to accomplish the goal that we have. And that’s getting to a Super Bowl. We’re going to have to not just escape against opponents we’re gonna have to dominate opponents. And if they play it, they have little slip ups like that. You know, the wrong team is going to slip up and and beat them at the wrong time like the playoffs? playoffs. Right? Exactly. Right. And if you watch the Steelers, yeah, a lot of the players that normally don’t make a lot of mistakes, making mistakes. Even Minka Fitzpatrick looked like he was getting worked a couple of times. And that’s just uncommon to see make I get worked. But it could just been one of those days that man this is the point in time, which where the Steelers need to turn it up a notch. And like I said, not just escape opponents and have ugly wins, but had the side that wins.
Victor Arocho
Right? Yeah. But uh, you know, I think that what you’re on a roll, you know, you played bad you pull up the win, it still shows the resolve of the team one. And then yet Marsan you got to give credit because you know, I think those those guys that stepped in showed they want to play you know, the Emmys they have a, you know, got Baltimore’s a pretty good team. So they have to have, I think good teams have good debt, because you get better playing against better talent. That first statement by right so even though maybe you guys are in second string or not getting as many p as many reps it but if they’re really good, you know, they make the other team the first string better.
Justin Riley
Right? Hey, bar a victory Victor. Baltimore had a lot of players that weren’t even there before this past week. They picked him up recently, so they could feel the team. And they still played very well.
Victor Arocho
Yeah, so then, but that’s tell him that look, pick, you know, pick your head out of you know what, because your team is better than your showing. Because if you could do that with the players you had and play against a Steeler team, even though they played bad, but that’s not your fault. Right? You show up you play.
Byron Jones
Tommy if you heard right, people play down to the competition. That’s probably what happened you know, they probably lined up so all these guys that, you know, we’re, you know, delivering ice cream and doing this and whatever else, you know, the week before and that are an NFL game. And if we could roll over these guys, they probably know exactly probably what they’re thinking. Yo,
Victor Arocho
it could be but but but III think it would be everything. The only problem I don’t agree fully with that is is that that it wasn’t just what you did. It was they were bad in every unit? Yep. Yep, you know me it is it’s one thing that I do get that you play down to opponent, but it’s usually a unit or you know, but not like he mentioned, every unit, every facet of every facet that you have in football did not play well.
Byron Jones
But you have a lot of those out there playing on all those technologies. A lot of starters are playing on the kickoff team, the kickoff kick received the punt team, a lot of those guys are you know, they’re doing a lot of different jobs. So all it takes is two or three of them. Like, you know what, we could roll over these guys. I
Victor Arocho
don’t worry about it. And exactly, well, you know, they should know. Yeah, that’s just, you know, it’s sad, though, then that’s gonna be a problem if that’s true, which, you know, I’m hoping it isn’t even though I’m not a Steeler fan, but I like Tom. The challenge is, though, that that’s not going to be the mentality of a team that can go undefeated win soup. Because you know, you’re undefeated to me, you know, how you pride I’m going to get myself thrown out before I get a beat down. Right? Okay. I would say guys we can make history here you know, we have lost the game. So play like it like Justin said, you know, don’t don’t play just barely win. You should dominate these opponents. Be undefeated, be it by a dominated, you know, be a dominant undefeated undefeated team. Right. So I think that you know, anytime a team’s undefeated for me in football, particularly I always get nervous because the one time that you lose is probably the time you’re not going to watch which is the
Byron Jones
New England Patriots about that but guess the giants,
Victor Arocho
right baby? There you go. Yeah. Often celebrate all the time but didn’t play as many games now. You know, it was totally different. All right. Well, the Steelers are gives an update Tulsa. What’s happening what kind of prospects we get so we could pick on a fantasy football teams
Byron Jones
have nothing. They haven’t played the last two weeks to play Navy this weekend that they play Cincinnati next week. And saving College has been nominated as one of the finalists for with the buckets or the linebacker from Tulsa is number 23
Unknown Speaker
number 23.
Unknown Speaker
All six foot four 260 pounds.
Victor Arocho
Real quick. You mentioned someone you mentioned a name before Justin marquees. He hit macabre Koi
Unknown Speaker
aureus.
Victor Arocho
Gary’s Marcel dareus. Yeah. Was he on your show? Sometimes.
Justin Riley
We have not had Marcel dareus yet where I just remember you will. That’s why I was asking.
Unknown Speaker
It was a great player to
Unknown Speaker
be let me know so we can call up and ask him about that hit
Justin Riley
on cocoa. Oh, yeah, most definitely.
Victor Arocho
Alabama fans a chance even ask a damn question.
Justin Riley
I’ll get the boys in line, man. We’re just so excited, man. We’re passionate bunch. We’re passionate fan base.
Victor Arocho
Now man, I went in and light up your show before with Steve Brown was on there when asked about because I was I was calling NASA about Jalen hertz. Right by him I’m gonna call into getting asked about it. I think we can talk a little bit about now cuz I want to talk about it here and then we’ll move on. But what was going through this guy’s mind putting them into place and taking them out? Why would you do that to a young player? What’s wrong with you?
Byron Jones
I’m Doug Peterson probably has a lifetime job in Philadelphia. Unless he you know goes on 16 you know, for two or three years.
Victor Arocho
Unless that in case interviews there.
Justin Riley
You want oh dear Gosh, yeah.
Byron Jones
He won a Super Bowl and Philadelphia. That’s a big thing. Right here. Now they still talk about that. You know, that when and I have to hear it all the time. But uh, no. Wentz has been paid a billion dollars, I think between like now next year, so they’re not going to rush jailing them because they got to pay this guy. They’re not gonna pay a guy $25 million a year whatever he’s making a year just sit on a bench when you put this other kid who you know who deserves a play now because Wes is awful. He was sacked six times in the game. He’s terrible, but they’re not going to take him out. Unless it gets hurt. Or it gets that bad where the maybe the owner the team said you know what, put the other guy but they’re not going to put
Victor Arocho
that okay with that. I didn’t think I think we had that conversation. My issue was how do you put this kid for two plays? Like just to like, you know, oh, was he was it because Carson was her for a little bit or what? But two plays?
Byron Jones
Maybe they figured they throw him out there for like, as a decoy? Yeah, well, I we got Jalen hertz out here. You know, we don’t know.
Justin Riley
But if you if you do that, though, teams are going to know while he’s just out there the decoys and they’re not gonna really pay any attention to it. They don’t see it as a threat. So get Jalen in the mix. But for God’s sakes, bring him in there if it’s not. If not, if not, just to give the team a spark, you know, give him some real place to where he’s actually doing something or has the opportunity to do something. The Eagles need a spark right now they need something they need. They need some kind of lightning bolt to hit them in some way. And my gosh, he just did that gotten a second round has got amazing ability as a runner, a passer just phenomenal athletes use it to your advantage.
Victor Arocho
My point is, I agree with with both of you. The only thing is my issue was either if you’re going to put him in, you know, give him give, give him a you know, for sure. Give him the four series, right, the four downs, but give him give him a chance. Don’t give two plays. It’s like, I don’t know I’d be it would affect me, like, put me in two places through one pass.
Byron Jones
But the bottom line is often they’re all hurt. Lane Johnson i think is out for a rescue. Chelsea,
Unknown Speaker
they could be protected based on Peter when you’re angry, moving from left
Byron Jones
to right, tackle the left guard, they move him all over the place. You know, their line is just not the same. That was what they wanted.
Victor Arocho
Right. Oh, so since we got a did you want to ask Justin a question about to be
Unknown Speaker
heard already, again?
Justin Riley
Some injury. And that from what I understand he could have gone but for us didn’t feel like there was a need to really push it. So we just sat in this past week and put Fitzpatrick in because you know, it was the Jets. I mean, you unaka londa and still have been effective. But that’s what it was. It was it was a thumb injury and he could have played it if he needed to but you know why was going out there when it’s the Jets. You got fragile.
Victor Arocho
Happy, okay. Byron’s called fragile. He said he’s like a, he’s like a ceramic. He’s a ceramic vase.
Justin Riley
Well, it is true, he does have a tendency or I guess talent to to accrue the occasional injury or 10. But I think he, I think he’s all right. I mean, he took some lumps this year and bounced right back off, and it was ready to go. So you know. I know he’s got an unfair stigma around him. But my gosh, you pay him and tons of money at that, at that point in the draft. So why not? You know, do something with your investment.
Victor Arocho
Exactly. All right. Like I’ve tried to pull something up. Oh, man. All right. Well, Byron, I can’t find that download. I was trying to do it. Why did you get an award or something I wanted to show you you read the national scares. Was that this year? recently? The Gala.
Byron Jones
Oh, that’s why retired four years ago.
Victor Arocho
Oh, that was four years ago. Yeah. So Byron, from the sheriff. Right from sheriff. I just want to congratulate you when I was trying to show that picture. I haven’t downloaded my other computer. I want to show it now. I can’t find
Byron Jones
a lieutenant governor of the state was there.
Victor Arocho
So that was it was good moment. Right. Yeah. So by then I went in, I showed Byron, who was the gentleman he took a picture with you. I think so and you have posts. That’s what I’m trying to look for.
Unknown Speaker
That’s my dude, man. That’s Tracy.
Victor Arocho
Okay, so Justin, I wanted to have that picture. So you can get a perspective of how big virus is that guy was dwarfed. I was like, Okay, let me show everybody how big viruses
Unknown Speaker
sorry.
Victor Arocho
That was interruption. That was an expected. All right. So, any parting words there, Justin? Well,
Justin Riley
I’ve enjoyed the show. Again, I always love mixing up with you guys. And I’m hoping and hoping that my ravens get together before the playoffs that we can get in the playoffs. And because right now, and we’re dropping too many games, and I think we’re actually underperforming right now. And, you know, to have all that hype coming into the season two had nothing to show for at the end. We got we got to do something quick.
Victor Arocho
Well, we’ll see what happens also, this is a weird year. With COVID and everything else going on you know I just think look I just think you see the shift as the as the as the week’s go. You’ve seen great teams starting to play not as good you don’t I mean like the cream is rising to the top and then some of them are going up and down right it’s just it’s just kind of weird. Yeah, this year like you think someone’s on a roll and then they go different Indianapolis surprises Yeah. And then something happens. They’re just one one team to the next. Right. You get quarterbacks when
Unknown Speaker
you’re playing with a wide receiver quarterback has been a mess.
Victor Arocho
It’s been. It’s been pretty bad. Byron you got anything
Byron Jones
thrown out there. Sam Mills, longtime great for Carolina Panthers in the New England while New Orleans Saints. One of the 25 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Please do this man adjust and get him in the Hall of Fame. Please.
Justin Riley
Yeah, amen. to that. Amen. of that.
Victor Arocho
He went to Montclair State New Jersey. He went to Division Three school. All five foot nine
Byron Jones
230 pounds of field mouth. Yeah.
Victor Arocho
Division Three. And he was so that great record he passed away recently? About five years ago. Five years ago. Yeah, that guy was a he was a dominant player
Byron Jones
in the USFL. Yeah. Gary Zimmerman, Reggie white, young and Jim Kelly. Were the guys that are in the Hall of Fame that played with USFL. He’s one you should
Victor Arocho
know. I agree. And, you know, I want to end it with this one thing that we talked about last week, or the week before, because was Thanksgiving, when we talked about the new diversity program for hiring? I guess minority or interviewing minority coaches, we were having that conversation. You know, where I think that gets lost is the fact that they don’t talk up enough. The Byron Lefkowitz, the the Eric be enemies about how great they’re doing as coaches in their positions. Right. It’s like, it’s either the head coach or the they got to mention those guys. It’s almost like it’s almost like how they say like the Heisman Trophy sometimes gets lost in the mix of the teams that are not as national, nationally televised as other teams, right? Like, these people can’t see them. Right. So almost like talking about these great, you know, minority. I think everybody should get a shot. So I’m just across the board. I’m just saying that if they’re not at least mentioning them and saying what a great job and you know, constantly having some sports talk about the great coaches that are not the head coaches. Right. I think that that that brings a lot more to life, you start remembering their names, right? And then that’s the one. Number two. I’m just wondering if there’s a point where a coach, a coach wants to stay with a team for a little bit longer to kind of enjoy that destiny. You don’t I mean? Just I guess not know they want to go get that head coach.
Byron Jones
Oh, look, it wasn’t me. Daniels. Look what he did up in the New England. Yeah, he could have he had the job, what are the costs and all of a sudden, I don’t really want to go there and change his mind. Somebody accepts a job and then changes his mind at the last minute. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. Interesting.
Victor Arocho
Again, I think the like he, Jeff The reason why I brought that up again, because Justin just mentioned the enemy left which is doing a great job. I mean, there’s a lot of great coaches that great job. Yeah, and and then the head coach is Brian Flores and you know that he go all the new league is the new coaches. Tomlin was the youngest coach ever to win the Super Bowl
Justin Riley
31
Victor Arocho
the youngest coach ever so why did you start hiring young coaches What do you want
Justin Riley
people a little slow.
Byron Jones
The good old boy league they’re gonna hire you know who they’re familiar with. And you know, that’s the issue you know, that I have, you know, whether that is the same retreads is that they keep hiring over and over and over again and as one like I told you before, the coaching trick, read Bella check and Shana had 40% of the guys that are coaching right now have one way or another have been those three.
Victor Arocho
Interesting so well, I think some changes get just
Justin Riley
so Alabama had that problem for a longest time when it came to the Bear Bryant coaching tree. Whenever it came time for us to actually have a new coach. They wouldn’t hire anybody unless they coached or played under under Bear Bryant. So they finally broke the mold later. And of course we have saving now but yeah, it took a long time for that to change.
Victor Arocho
Okay, I’m gonna be wrapping this up right now. So, again, thanks You just inferred for joining today and Byron my wonderful co host Don’t forget our listeners that there’s the Ty Turner show every Monday at 10pm and then you got the Riley and constant show Tuesday at 7pm as a big sec get prepared because you got a lot of Alabama boys coming at you I think I’m gonna call in with a group of friends because it’s the only way I can be like you can’t go in there it’s like going into a tunnel and you know what you’re gonna get so I just want to say Yeah, you got Justin the constant and Riley show every Tuesday Hold on a second I got here and I think it did just want to tell them real quick the show so I can pull up my cheat sheet
Justin Riley
All right, yeah. Like Victor said is the rollin constant show with the brown and basically what we do Marvin constant is a former all sec linebacker from the University of Alabama. We we bring everything in from outsider and a player’s perspective. So this is kind of interesting to see why things happen and what they do from a player standpoint helps us to better understand the game. We will preview upcoming games recap previous games talk about issues surrounding the
Victor Arocho
Alabama
Justin Riley
it is an Alabama
Victor Arocho
Alabama show it and I’m no I’m just saying you know it’s for there’s a lot we have.
Justin Riley
We have former Alabama legends who
Victor Arocho
let me ask you a question. It’s constant constants and gentlemen, it’s like really good shape. He’s the one who gave a workout somebody. Yes, that’s him. Yeah. Oh, man.
Justin Riley
That’s him.
Victor Arocho
He’s I need a workout. He’s in phenomenal shape. Well, every Tuesday that shows good. It’s fantastic. You definitely be prepared if you want to get into the Alabama into that cage with them. But it’s enjoyable You know, there’s just the guys that really some Alabama boys just have some fun they know the game. And obviously you got a phenomenal athletes. I was I was listening to the show I called in and they had a gentleman What was his name Andrew
Justin Riley
Andrews L
Victor Arocho
and usao. That was just phenomenal and just you go one after the other. So you know whether you like Alabama, you know, like Alabama doesn’t matter, because at least you’re gonna hear for some like top level athletes. And then I want to also finish our show with we always like to finish and we mentioned the Gary Sinise foundation. That’s Gary Sinise. foundation.org freedom, security are precious gifts that we as Americans should never take for granted. We must do all we can’t extend our hand in times of the to those who are willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security. While we can never do enough to show the gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more Gary Sinise. So I know. That’s dear to your heart. Byron and that’s for first responders. That’s for our military. And we always like to make throw a mention out of every one of our shows.
